The tamales and chimichangas! Incredible. A solid pick that I can always count on for Good Mexican.

This review only pertains to the bar service and the margaritas. Our bartender was attentive and on the money. Great margarita pitchers, but with the cheapest tequila option at $ 40/pitcher, they damn well better have been. The bar itself is a total dive, the men’s bathroom smells like the sewer, and the random glitter suspended from the ceiling is enough to give you a headache, but you’ll probably have one anyway the following day.

Came here because someone invited me and wounded up having a great time. The food is really great(not to mention inexpensive), and the staff as a whole provides a positive and upbeat environment. The bartender — who is loads of fun himself, can make a great café patron(of his own style), which I encourage all to try :) I am definitely coming back here — the music is AWESOME, and the Bingo games are a great and funny small break/change to the scene as well!

This place is a clear choice for locals or people who want to start their night pumped up! The atmosphere, the décor screams: WEMEANFUN! Since they don’t take reservations you’re guaranteed to wait. If you are happy to hold your ground it’s a great start to the night. We ordered a pitcher of frozen strawberry margarita for $ 40 — Delicious! We waited around 40 mins for a table, and happy to be seated we were happy to start with complimentary chips and salsa. I was surprised how flavorful the chili queso was and the waitress kept the chips coming! We asked the waitress if they could do their ‘special’ they don’t have anymore: the Ernie Burrito. the best Burrito in the city! And the kitchen made it for us! so great! It’s steak beautifully cooked with tomatillo salsa and cheese inside. rice and beans outside. SOGOOD!

Can’t tell what went wrong with all the negative reviews, since all the food I tried here was great. Tried a variety of dishes, including dips, nachos, tacos and quesadillas, as well as a good pitcher of margarita, and it was all pretty good. The prices were on point, the décor inside was funky and the ambience was right. Plus: Hannibal was on TV.

I came to the shocking realization yesterday that I have not written a review for this place yet so the first thing I did this morning was dig into the deepest and darkest place in the back of my head to try my best to pull out the fuzzy details of my experience here. Tequila has a way of doing that… I came here for the first time this past winter to celebrate my friend’s birthday on a Saturday night. They have a $ 60 special for an entrée and all you can drink dinner. This place was *~*poppin*~* so unfortunately, we had to hang out by the bar for a little bit while we waited for our table to open up. The waitress ended up giving us another HOUR of open bar to make up for it. I’m not sure if this was a nice gesture or she was trying to punish us via a massive hangover the next day due to the extra hour of $h1ttY tequila shots but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. I guess it’s my own fault that I like to get the most bang for my buck at these bottomless drinking venues. This place was unbelievably rowdy and featured people standing on tables and everyone was beyond inebriated. The birthday boy got a tray of tequila shots that had candles sticking out of the shot glasses to celebrate his birthday. He ended up drinking the tequila right off of the tray that the shots were brought out on. Needless to say, he didn’t make it out to celebrate the remainder of his birthday. It’s been over 6 months at this point since we went here. I finally got the courage to return last night. It was a bit mellower given that it was a Monday, but still *~*poppin*~*. We played BINGO and my friend won so that was pretty neat as well. She got some t-shirts, a sombrero, and some plastic chili pepper necklace(all the rage this season). The food is like not good whatsoever but that’s not what you’re here for so I’m not going to even include it in my ranking. This place is perfect for an unbelievably rowdy birthday pregame dinner, and it’s location in the heart of the West Village makes it that much better.

Stopped in here between bar destinations late one night, because Mexican food always hits the spot. Festive and fun décor! Super pretty waitresses covered in tattoos and piercings! The food is far from authentic, but that doesn’t matter when you have the munchies. Their guacamole and chips were a-ok, but the salsa was lacking in substance. Split the Quesadilla Grande appetizer with a girlfriend, and we were plenty satisfied. Returned a few weeks later for Sunday brunch. Their grande breakfast burrito is such a steal at $ 8 — it comes with tortilla pie, sour cream, and rice. The medium sauce is very mild, so if you like spicy get it with chipotle instead. Sides of guacamole and jalapenos are always necessary, so I recommend ordering those too. And don’t forget to treat yourself to a margarita, their mix is delicious and strong!

The Quick: Fun and loud classic collegey drunken restaurant where the best nights end/begin and the foods pretty good. Solid 3.5 The Details: I have been to tortilla Flats more times than I can count, and I can confirm with 100% confidence that I have never gone sober. This is one of those Manhattan classic drunken spots to either begin the night with happy hour or end the night with drunken food and lots of impromptu singing of Bön Jovi. On any given night there’s a Bachelorette party, a table of sorority girls, and a few older businessmen looking to get drunk. The food is always good, not fantastic but it doesn’t have to be. The drinks are strong, the vibe is happy and exciting, and the tequila is flowing. Fun spot to be! The Damage: if you are sober enough to care about the tab this is not the spot for you. $ 17 entrees which are gigantic, I would split a few apps for a big group and focus on drinking.
