Insanely slow service in an empty restaurant at lunchtime. Had to get the food we ordered to go.

I heard rave reviews about Uncle Nicky’s and was very excited to try it out. Unfortunately Uncle Nicky’s did not live up to the hype. Complete and utter disappointment! My coworkers and I ordered lunch and it was a huge let down. The food was very mediocre and cold by the time it arrived. Let’s not even mention the sad portion I got(picture to follow). As well as very greasy, the bottom of my container was covered in oil. It was not worth 15 dollars I spent. I will not be going back.

Ugh, rude service. Was willing to put up with that. Massive cockroach crawling on wall. Eventually smashed by server. Nauseated diners. Asked for check since entrees had not shown up and nobody in our party could imagine eating them, was presented with FULL bill, including gratuity. I thought that just getting us out of the restaurant was fair, but was willing to pay for what we had been served. Tried to explain to rude server that I was trying to be discreet so as to not ruin other patrons evening. Finally had to say that we could either do this quietly, or we could do this real loud, complete with vomit gestures and sound effects. Rude server wanders away with no comment. I leave eventually. Will call NYC health department tomorrow.

The best Greek food in nyc! The lamb chops and octopus are out of this world. Some people mush be extremely picky, I have been here countless times and everything from the food to the staff is amazing. Freshest seafood in New York City for a reasonable price. Make sure you leave room for the baklava ice cream!

Ordered a lamb platter lunch special. It was 3MINUSCULE pieces of lamb with a HUGE portion of rice. It was very disheartening because it tasted really good.

9th is wall to wall international restaurants, lots of choices for every palate. We were leaning towards Greek, and tried Uncle Nick’s. It’s a bustling restaurant that serves classic Greek dishes. For appetizers we had the flaming cheese Saganaki. It was delicious! We also had the 4-dip appetizer, served with soft warm pita. It was also excellent. My husband ordered the gyro plate for entrée, and I ordered moussaka. Both were excellent. In hindsight, I’d have skipped the 4-dip app, because we were feeling quite stuffed by the time the entrees arrived. But not too stuffed for an awesome shared baklava and couple of espressos. Service was outstanding and fast. If you’re looking for a fancy restaurant with new takes on Greek cuisine, this is not your place. It is however prefect if you’re looking for real classics, done well and with great service.

I went during lunch hours(1 pm) with coworkers and were seated right away. We put in our orders fairly quickly, but we ended up waiting for 30 min for our food. I would’ve understood if the place was busy, but we were 1 of 4 tables in the restaurant at that time. It was quite hard to track down the waiter and he seemed to just disappear for moments at a time. The food however was quite good. I got the gyro platter which came with a salad, rice, pita, beef and tzatziki sauce. The pita had a nice seasoning on it and was very fluffy which made it delicious! Beef was slightly dry, but cut thinly so it was easy to eat and the tzatziki sauce helped out. The salad was fresh with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Overall, food was delicious, but the service… not so much. I would’ve easily given them a higher rating if we experienced better service. They were very good about filling up the water though!

We got here pretty late so no need for reservations so we didn’t have a full meal just appetizers. we had white sangria it was lite and not dry so just how I like it… waiters were friendly and very helpful in our suggestions. the eggplant dip was awesome, the flaming cheese was great and so was the sheesh and shrimp. The Greek potatoes was ok not what I expected I’ve had it in different places so didn’t expect their versions. I didn’t give a full 5 stars because I did t try their entrees but if I were to go by the appetizers I widow definitely recommend this place!

Service was very good. Took a few mins to be welcomes since it was a WIERD hour but ultimately service was on point and everyone was friendly. Got a Mythos beer. Super fresh and Delish Order Chix with pita and salad– very good $ 12. Not overly big. Finished the whole thing but then again it was lunch. Chix tasted good Another chix dish was ordered also good Desserts were VERYGOOD. The phyllo stuffed with custard was the best and HUGE. Yum. $ 6 If I’m in the area I’d prob go back for some apps and dessert

Mediterranean is my favorite type of cuisine, and Uncle Nick’s is one of my «go to» restaurants in the city. I’ve come here countless times with friends. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is friendly, and the food is consistently yummy. I especially love their dips and their Greek salad. The portions are very generous and I always leave feeling satisfied.

Had OpenTable reservations and initially the completely gruff unkempt host couldn’t find us. But then he did. He was very unfriendly. He handed 2 menus to another person and he basically threw them on the table in a crowed part of the restaurant. I noticed that there was additional seating in the back. So I requested a quieter table. He said no without an explanation and walked away. At that point we just told them that we were no longer interested in staying and departed. He then cancelled our reservation. So I had no way of reviewing the restaurant. Happy that Unilocal is around. Unfriendly. The host should spend more time learning how to be a host rather than worrying about when the next food break will be. This is the second time in 4 years I have tried this place. Definitely the last time. Do your self a favor and stay away. Not worth anyone’s time or money! Hi Sofia. 530pm on Saturday, May 8. Had open table reservations. The host cancelled them after I asked for quieter seating. He said No! And walked away. When I told him that we were not staying, he couldn’t care less.

For a place near the theatre district, the service was pretty slow. Our waiter didn’t greet our table for 10 min and even though we told him we were going to see a play, our food took a long time and came out after other tables who came after us. That being said, the food was amazing! I have been to Greece and the dishes here were just as authentic and fresh. I highly recommend the grilled octopus appetizer. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for basic, authentic Greek cuisine, just don’t go if you’re in a rush.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years with my family and its still my favorite Greek restaurant in the tri state area! By far THEBESTTZATZIKI I’ve ever had, i promise thats bold statement considering i get tzatziki every chance i get. This being my first Unilocal review, I had to use it on one of my all time favorite restaurants. The food couldnt be more authentic Cretan(from where the owner is originally from)… Its a great spot to go with a group and get all the tapas on the menu to share… beside the tzatziki the Saganaki, grilled baby octopus, mezedakia and 4 dip combo with the pita are my favorite dishes and never fail to please the taste buds… they offer a variety of whole fish, that couldnt be any fresher… most people wont order it whole because of the bones, but i think thats the best way to get it here. Its prepared so simply because too much of anything else takes away from that already delicious fresh great taste… the whole ambiance is exciting yet laid back, very neighborly and casual… fantastic wine selections… great for before theater dinners… i can go on for pages, bottom line is if you want the best Greek food in Hell’s Kitchen, and in my opinion anywhere between here until you get to Greece, you go to Uncle Nick’s(9th ave or 8th ave location). They have been around for decades because the food is consistent, real, authentic, traditional and most importantly, they make you feel like part of the family with every experience… Opa!

Very authentic and pretty good Greek restaurant. Vegan options are limited but it’s possible to make many things vegan, so I had a very abundant dinner. I started with a Maroulosalata(Lettuce salad), which was quite big and tasty. They even brought the cheese, which I asked to be dropped from the recipe, for the others on my table. My main course was the Kebob, or Veggie Skewer, with Greek fries and Zucchini fries. Everything was good and filling, but I especially recommend the fries: hand-cut and covered in herbs. I got the Greek beer Mythos — it’s great! The waiters were all really friendly, but the busser looked sulky. Overall, one of the better Greek restaurants in Manhattan that I’ve been to.

Greek salad is amazing and that was best part of our food experience here. The entrees were nothing special, C+ at best. There are zillions of restaurants in NYC, but you can really have much better quality for less money at places in the outer boroughs or the suburbs vs. Manhattan. It is about quality, not quantity. Of course there are many places with excellent dining in Manhattan but overall Manhattan restaurants tend to be overrated, especially in grimy Hells Kitchen. Then again if you’re visiting NYC you’re really coming to experience Manhattan. But if you live near the area outside of the city you can find superior dining in Queens, Brooklyn or Long Island. The entrees here really were more akin to diner food and I never choose a diner for an evening out. Lastly, in my opinion any restaurant like this should have their wait staff dress a little more upscale as well. 2 ½ stars

I was in NYC for the weekend to meet up some friends and somewhat for my birthday celebration. My boyfriend and I needed to meet up with one more friend prior our departure back to DC and he picked Uncle Nick’s Greek Cuisine. At first I did not want to come because I was in the mood for something else. We ended up coming here and I am glad we did. We ordered the Potato and Garlic Dip as an appetizer… so delicious. It reminded me of garlic mash potatoes. It came with pita bread and yes, we ate it all. I ordered the BIFTEKI. That was sooooooooooooooo yummy I ate the whole thing. It comes with this lemon-y grilled potato side. Perfect combination. I have been craving Greek food ever since. Definitely one of our new«go to» restaurants when we are in town again. NEWFAVE!!!

Uncle Nick’s is a good place to grab a quick bite before going to the theatre. It’s far enough away to avoid the«theatre» crowd but close enough to make it to any play within a 10 minute walk. As for Uncle Nick’s food and the ambiance, they are trying too hard to be authentic but miss by a mile. The food is mediocre, and if you know anything about Meditteranean food you won’t be impressed. My father’s reaction to our fresh grilled fish was«I think they defrosted this fish and grilled it for us.»

Solid place in Hell’s Kitchen. The food won’t blow you away, but it’s definitely a step above the food you get at a Greek diner. Started with a Mythos(which I drank like water when I was in Athens a couple of times) and a Greek salad. Salad was fine but the stuffed grape leaves were standouts. Yum! For dinner, the gyro platter. Decently priced, the meat was good, rice was just okay, potatoes were oddly greasy. Brisk, efficient service. No complaints here. Definitely a reasonable choice for dining in HK.
