So the 19 year old in me wants to get a navel piercing, because frankly I’m passed the age for any piercing on my face. After dining and being slightly tipsy, combined with being hyped up by my partner in crime for the night, we ventured next door to check out the body jewelry. Smart move! I coaxed her into getting something done, because I didn’t want to be alone. What a novel idea! I totally overlooked the neon sign re: piercing but was happy to find out that they do all sorts. The peircer will take you to the back room where the magic happens. I was almost hesitant to go through with it because the prices were inexpensive. The piercing was just okay, the length of the barbell was too small. The gentlemen working here were very nice and polite, answering all of the questions my friend had for her piercings(even shared pics of similar piercings she wanted). She belabored the point of how indecisive she was. But she eventually got something done too. I did ask them about my other piercing, they charge a $ 5 fee to remove and change the body jewelry(ah I’ll do it myself). I would recommend the shop for for body jewelry ONLY!!! Tip: They have a nice, and fairly priced selection of body jewelry. It’s definitely worth a look inside. They had some very cute and fashionable earrings there too.

I love this place. I’ve only been twice, but distilled down to a single word, each visit has truly been a pleasure. For nearly 25 years I’ve been coming to St. Mark’s Place, generally in search of silver hoop-y adornments for my now 14 ear piercings. Having had a positive experience a few months ago when I first ventured into Unique Collection — it was the only vendor or business on this stretch of St. Mark’s that didn’t make me feel like I was pressured into buying something, and they were the only ones who actually had what I was looking for — I sought it out again after a friend of mine and I decided we wanted to get another ear piercing. I’m glad we did. First of all, to concur with what reviewer Mikey K. wrote(4÷30÷2013), one of the gentlemen working there did, indeed, remember me too, without my having mentioning anything to him about the last time I was there. So, here are my thoughts: 1– If you are looking to get pierced, this place is *very* clean. Alcohol, gloves, and a sink with anti-bacterial handwashing soap are all utilized, and there are no obvious signs of unsanitary conditions, so that is a definite plus right there. 2– The prices for all piercings are clearly posted on the wall inside the private piercing area, so there can be no misunderstanding how much something costs. 3– Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and that just added to the overall appeal of the place. One of my two friends, carrying a DSLR, could not resist taking photos of all the lovely gemstones and statues of Ganesha, Buddha, and so forth. The proprietor was more than accommodating and happy to show off his wares, so that was also very nice. 4– Finally, a note to the savvy consumer: This place is not cheap, but the wares are quality and the service is excellent. These are guys with integrity and from what I have seen and personally experienced, they truly do right by their customers. And so, A+++++!!! I will definitely be visiting them again in the future.

The shopkeeper appeared to remember us. Either that or he was just being friendly. I came again with the same friend that went with me the past two times. He showed us to stones we were looking for. They also have incense and sage which I didn’t see on my last visit. There’s apparently some new hot items coming through on Sunday which he told us about. Could be five stars if the had more space and you didn’t feel like you were going to knock something over.
