I am currently in the brew house and dear, sweet lord the scotch ale is taking me on a journey. My ability to describe the deliciousness of this beer is stunted by the confines of my vocabulary, and perhaps, language in general. With every sip I am drawn closer to sexual climax and the ruining of my jeans. So much so that I may need to switch to a different beer, for the night is young and I am without a backup pair of trousers.

Stopped here for lunch today. The place was virtually empty which was awesome. I ordered the grilled cheese with French fries. Ummmmm yummers. That may have been the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. The menu is simple. Nothing fancy. Just sandwiches and salads. Bar area in the front and tables in the back. Nice décor 1 restroom. And it was clean. I’ll be back.

This is my new favorite west village spot!!! I brought my family here Sunday night and a girlfriend last night… Its also a cozy intimate date spot. Theres a bar area to hang out; they have a HUGE selection of craft beers & I loved their Cabernet option(so they also have wine). Staff is super friendly, knowledgable, accommodating. I ordered THEBEST grilled cheese Ive ever eaten in my life, with 5 gourmet cheeses. My family enjoyed the hangar steak & fish n chips. The beer cheese is nice n spicy(they don’t give you much and the bread is EH). But all in all, we’re very happy to have discovered this GEM :)

Not quite sure why I hadn’t gone to this place prior. Maybe out of laziness, maybe I wasn’t sure of the crowd. Honestly though, it’s one of the best beer bars in the city, and in a location that sorely could use it. Happy Hour 2pm-6pm: $ 2 off all drafts/wine. Great beer selection; not too many on draft, though significant variety in the ones they do have. While enjoying a brew($ 6), I also got the beer cheese($ 7) — a jar of potent cheese spread served with several circular wedges of bread. Perfectly paired and an excellent lunch. Completely deserted in the afternoon so the service was excellent. The people here know their stuff and are easy to talk to. Absolutely will come back here for more.

Wow. TWO Prairie Artisan Ale bottles, Knee Deep and Logsdon on draft and great french fries and beer cheese. Amazing staff, excellent beer choices and great food. This place is perfect. Having been to most craft beer places in the city, this place is amazing and would be one of my top choices. It’s worth a trip from anywhere in the city.

Great beer selection and the burgers smelled yummy. It’s a narrow place. We arrived for happy hour which was nice(good deals). However, count your cashback. Our server, #1 asked if we needed change #2 rounded up the bill and #3 shorted us a $ 1. Shady… I’m giving it 3 stars for the beer selection.

Can’t say enough great things about Upright Brew House and how accommodating they were for a surprise party in the downstairs area. The space was super cozy and great for a group of 25 – 30. The staff was super attentive and somehow remembered everyone’s names for their tabs.(Seriously, what a relief to be able to have separate tabs for a group that large). Great Selection of wine and beer(no liquor) and lots of tables and seating, not to mention 3 pinball machines. Also you have to get the truffle fries; they are sooo good. Thanks Jb for a great night!!!

After being ignored at the Spotted Pig, we spontaneously chose to drop in at Upright for a mid-afternoon snack and brew and were totally and completely happy we did. Understand that I’m such a Unilocal-ite that I rarely enter a food or grog establishment without having at least browsed the Unilocal description. I would definitely return here when in the area. The style here is «wine bar» but they’ve replaced the wine with beer. We were immediately greeted with a smile from the very attractive Stephanie, the bartender, who gave us menus, water and advice on some of the craft beer selections. I started with the Westbrook Stout and followed with a creamy topped 70k Imperial Stout. We snacked on an assortment of middle eastern spreads and Stephanie pro-actively made sure we had bread to work with. The décor is plain and very clean. As Stephanie’s shift ended she was replaced by a guy who also was very attentive.

I picked this place for happy hour based on a few things. I’m a huge beer fan, they had a cool basement with pinball machines, and they had what looked like great bar food. We had the sliders, popcorn, and the cheese spread. All three were as good as advertised. The beers on tap were great and the bartender was very knowledgable to recommend some to my friends. I really enjoyed this spot and plan on stopping in again.

Lots of choices of beer — I had the Other Half Brewing«Forever Ever» Session IPA. I’m very picky when it comes to beer, but I thought it tasted great. We got fries with ketchup and truffle mayo as an appetizer — AMAZING. I’ve never tried truffle mayo before and it really was borderline life changing. I need to get some for my apartment ASAP!!! All of the other food was great too — we had the fish, pulled pork and steak burger. All were great. Our waitress was friendly and even though we were there for halloween happy hour, we still had great service. The overall ambience of the place was great too, although we didn’t have the chance to check out the downstairs. Next time!

Back area has football on, smart seating can fit groups of 6 to 8. Maybe more if they aren’t slammed. Beers are awesome. I like the the Pilsner by Stillwater on tap. Great plates and decent selection of food for all diet types. Found this gem after Bleecker Halloween parade.

Nice little neighborhood bar with an extensive beer list, both on draft and bottled/canned. We tried a few of the pilsners and wit beers and all were very good. We threw in some truffle popcorn to snack on and ti was tasty and fresh. Service was attentive and the bartenders were able to recommend several interesting beers.

Aww man, this is one of those joints that you leave wanting to come back! Upright’s got some great brews available that are hard to find anywhere else. I love trying new beers, and the bartender is super helpful in helping with decisions. Just tell ‘em what you like and they’ll give you something better. Food’s on point too. Definitely try the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, the wings, and their sliders!

If I were a New York native, this would be a bar I would be at regularly. They have a great beer list, that rotates regularly and is displayed on a huge TV in the corner. Love that it’s visible to everyone and, considering how crowded it got towards the end of our visit there, that everyone can get access to the list without crowding around the bar to try to find a menu, bumping into me in the process. Sad that the beer I had first kicked and wasn’t available again, but you win some you lose some. We also took part in the meat and cheese plates(not meat and cheese plate, but meat plate and cheese plate). Together, it was actually a perfect dinner for two(or a snack for more people than that). They didn’t offer a food menu, so we weren’t aware that they had more food than was on the chalkboard behind the bar. It would have been better if those menus were offered or visible, but we were happy eating what we did. The prices are not good or bad, but reasonable for the quality and quantity that you get. The bartenders were super friendly and did a good job at navigating the huge crowds, while at the same time making sure that each guest was taken care of.

Really chill, friendly craft beer bar. Right up my alley! Came here on a Friday night and it was semi-crowded but we were still able to find seats and a table near the storefront window. It was easy to get the bartender’s attention and she was friendly and knowledgeable. The craft beer selection on tap wasn’t huge but it was of high quality. There were quite a few that I never had before and wanted to try. At least half of them seemed to be somewhat local so that’s a good thing. Also, there was a bigger selection of craft beer in bottle form. We stayed for a few hours and it was nice to be able to have nice conversation and drink quality beer. If I’m ever in the area again, I would be glad to come back here.

This is a very nice bar. The décor and wall treatments were very cool, but every time my friend and I chose a beer from the list THEYWEREOUT! I mean this happened 3 times! 3! We did enjoy the beers that we did end up settling for, but should a girl have to settle? Maybe it was a weird night. If I was in the ‘hood, I would give them another go. Maybe then I could update this review.
