My breakfast go to. Love me my ham & butter, or avocado toast, or even a good ol’ grilled cheese with tomato soup on a child day. Workers are super friendly. Just wished the food could come out a tad bit quicker some times. I wait anywhere from 5 – 15 min for my food at times. It varies widely.

Having read a Serious Eats article about some of NYC’s best chocolate pastries and desserts, I read that wichcraft supposedly sells one of the best brownies in the city. Making a slight detour en route home I stopped by the 5th Avenue branch. I quickly saw the brownie in the display case and noticed it was a pretty sizeable portion and at a fair price($ 3.50) considering the celebrity chef franchise associated to where it’s sold. It was not too sweet; definitely hitting the notes of a darker bittersweet chocolate with a higher cocoa percentage versus a lot of milk chocolate based brownies. I love chocolate of any kind, so it didn’t matter much to me, but it was nice that sweetness was not the dominant flavor profile. Texture was a bit different than a traditional chewy or fudgy brownie as this brownie was clearly more cake like in texture. I didn’t experience all the complex flavors alluded to in the article on Serious Eats, but overall I think it was a really good brownie. However, to proclaim it one of NYC’s best… I don’t think so, but the article was one person’s opinion. At the minimum it peaked my curiosity to try it.

Note This isn’t the most well rounded review as j only stopped in for an cookie sandwich(chocolate chip cookies with icing in between) and coffee. But good less, was was it So good! And, according to their charts, less than 130 calories(however I am sure the sugar is through the roof). The coffee was also great. Definitely would pop in again!

Gah these sandwiches are so dissappointing. I’ve come here a couple of times because I keep thinking maybe I’m just getting a bad one because they have so much potential. There is never enough filling, I feel like I’m eating bread most of time and whatever sparce food is inside the sandwhich is subpar. I do like the concept of unqiue ingredients but man, it’s just bad.

Kay I was super nervous coming here. What if the spooky ‘whiches turn me into frog!?! I know NOTHING about being an amphibian! Luckily my body chemistry was altered in no way, and the staff was laser-focused on making food. Surprisingly not very busy around the lunch hour, so the wait was shorter than my list of personal accomplishments.(I’m gonna buy that boat, and then we’ll see who’s a loser Erich!) I got the roasted turkey ciabatta sandwich, which was very flavorful. Unfortunately I have to say it was a little bit underwhelming, kind of like Ashlee Simpson’s second studio album. For $ 11 I would have expected a little more PIZAZZ… and turkey and stuff. Also the ciabatta wasn’t super fresh. For the same price there are better options out there.

The only sandwich I’ll have at wichcraft is their roasted turkey. Pricey(I’m talking $ 11 including tax), but sooo worth it. I tried this location for the first time and unfortunately, the turkey was super dry. You could tell just by looking at it and the turkey was falling all over the place as I ate it. This place is also a little confusing to find because the address mentions 5th ave, but it’s on 46th street.

Perfect coffee, real nice staff, bathroom super clean — would be a perfect 5 but the sugar and milk is not filled up — it’s all about the attention to detail right! Other than that would totally recommend it and is a great option if you don’t want to drink Starbucks for the rest of your life!

I love this place. Their turkey sandwich is the bomb, their hummus sandwich is super tasty with their sprinkle of lemon confit… i mean, everything is incredible because they take what seems like a standard sandwich or salad and up the quality with some gourmet details. So really, this review is about the creamwich cookies. They do the peanut butter the best, the oatmeal the worst. Best oatmeal cookies are at Gregory’s. Best chocolate chip are at City Bakery. Best peanut butters are ‘Witchcraft.

This is my favorite ‘wichcraft location and you can tell that customer service is just as important as food quality from the top down. I’ve never had a bad meal here and like the extra perks that make the meal better than average(think: a bit of parmesan in your tomato soup, gristedes/breadsticks that are delish and come with all soup, special attention to the bread that each sandwich is placed on, special ingredients like pole-caught tuna instead of just tuna). This is a foodies casual lunch place dream. Yes, it’s a bit pricey and no, they do not pay attention to the calories on anything(though it’s posted) but the flavors and services are wonderful. Even the beverages are special — white orchard tea and hibiscus iced tea are delicious. They even have local red jacket fuji apple juice… great! Highly recommended: Tomato soup, pole-caught tuna on multigrain(only place I’ll eat tuna because it’s «clean» and not mixed with mayo but with capers, lemon, fennel, etc), and any cheese sandwich. For breakfast, the frittata sandwich if you are really hungry or the fried eggs on croissant if you want something flavorful but not super heavy — the greek yogurt with honey and granola is also really great. For dessert: the creamwich cookies, the double chocolate is my favorite as it seems to have cocoa beans in it… but very rich so grab a drink with it. The only item that I never like here is the coffee. Great place. Favorite lunch spot(the bathroom is clean and the interior is spacious with an upstairs and downstairs, though somehow you can get claustrophobic if you sit there too long). Five star staff, almost five on the food as the occasional day that the staff isn’t attentive can go VERY wrong(like whole wrong orders handed to you, but they are quick to fix it). oh yea — and make sure you get extra breadsticks… to die for!

I said I wouldn’t go to wichcraft again but it was convenient because I was at Chelsea Piers today. I ordered french fries at 12 noon. It took 15 minutes to get undercooked french fries. Yuck. The plus, this location is a nice space. Giving it 2 stars compared to the Bryant Park location but I guess that’s not really fair since the Bryan Park location is more like a kiosk. I guess I’m just not a fan of the«chain».

The interior is HUGE. Huge compared to most of the other spots around the area. So spacious, clean, and there’s some seating in the back and on the upper floor and some spots for you to stand and eat in the front. I ordered the Heritage Smoked Ham pressed sandwich. It has poached pears, dijon mustard, and aged cheddar all on cranberry pecan bread($ 8.50). My first thought when unwrapping the sandwich, «Wow what an overpriced, small, mediocre sandwich that I paid almost 10 bucks for.» However, I guess never judge a book by its cover applies in this situation. I was very impressed when I actually bit into the sandwich. The bread was hot and crunchy just the way I like it, and the sliced pear & cranberry combination really gave the normal ham and cheese sandwich some spunk. Overall, it was a good sandwich. A small, expensive sandwich. Not saying the food isn’t good, but I don’t know if I would want to make the trek all the way back here to try the other items on the menu just to overpay for super small portions.

Came here yesterday for a quick lunch. I got a turkey sandwich and my boyfriend got a Cuban. Mine was slightly better, but was still kinda dry. The Cuban one was more flavorful, but was also a little too salty. The environment was nice, and there were always seats.

I went here for lunch today and ordered the Chickpea salad. About halfway through eating my salad, I found a WORM squirming around in my lettuce. It was not large but it was MOVING and alive and very gross. I brought it to the attention of the manager, who then freaked out and screamed(dramatic much?) and proceeded to refund me for my meal. Thanks for the refund — can i contact you when i get sick tonight from unwashed salad greens? DONOTEATHERE!

I have a love-hate relationship with ‘Wichcraft. While they’re food is always predictably good, and sometimes even amazing — screw ups with the order turn me off of the company. I’ve learned to always call a head to order(ordering online or through seemless takes forever, as does ordering at the counter). There are occasional inconsistencies between their menu online and what they actually have at their location. I’ve also had to return to the store multiple times because an order was wrong or something is missing. Eating at ‘wichcraft is not a fast experience. That said, they have my favorite tomato soup and grilled cheese combo in the city, in addition to a very friendly staff that always takes time to fix a mistake or just say a friendly hello. Excelled customer service. Any co –worker or friends that I have introduced to ‘wichcraft have a great meal, and I enjoy trying different things on their menu. Also, the cookies are to die for. I would recommend ‘wichcraft to someone that is not in a rush, and can take some time to enjoy your meal. This location is not for the rushed.

Yes, most sandwiches are just average here. What was 4 star — ver good: the toasted/grilled pesto, mozz, basil and their meatloaf sandwich!

I went in today, Jan. 2 and asked for two things that were not available and also a large coffee, which was on the menu. «We only have medium and small.» «Why are you out of so many things?» «The holidays.» «And you didn’t order enough … « “No, we ran out of a lot of things.» Not cool. I ordered the tomato soup, which tasted like Prego from a jar. Seriously. I just wanted some spaghetti to put on it, but even then, it wouldn’t have been tasty. And the greasy stick things they gave for me to dip in it were stale and boring. I just couldn’t bring myself to pay $ 10 for a sandwich, which, it looks like on here would have been a gamble, anyway. I’m not interested in giving them another chance.

Stingy and slow are the words to describe this online order experience. We made a seamless order for wichcraft which was simple enough. No special instructions, just a few sandwiches, salads, and 2 sides of beets. When the order arrived, they left out a sandwich and added an extra side of beets. It wasn’t a big deal since all restaurants make mistakes and an item being left out is ordinary. When I called for the missing item, they said they will send someone over with the sandwich but we had to return the side of beets. Okay… you messed up the order and now you want a small side of beets back? Heck, what are they going to do with the beets anyways? Serve it to someone else?! An hour passed and we finished our lunch but the sandwich still didn’t come. I called wichcraft again and they couldn’t get hold of the delivery person. Another 10 minutes passed before the delivery person showed up. I didn’t even mentioned the beets but figuring how delayed this sandwich was, the beets is the least we deserve. The delivery person left as soon as he handed me the bag with the sandwich and what did I find on the receipt stapled on the bag? «REMEMBERTOTAKEBACKTHEBEETS» …WOW…

Bryant Park is one of those great locations that serve as an oasis from the craziness that makes up much of midtown Manhattan. Located towards the entrance of the park is ‘wichcraft. This small stand works magic within its small space, serving up sandwiches, salads, snacks and treats. The sandwiches here range from tuna, to chicken to pork. On this particular day I tried the slow roasted pork sandwich. Served on a big sandwich bread, it comes with a pepper relish with fontina cheese. The sandwich is assembled and then pressed, winding up with grille lines on it. This sandwich is absolutely delicious. The meat is cured nicely and wonderfully tender. It’s shredded and blends beautifully with the cheese and relish. The relish gives you a kick and a burn, making this a wonderful experience. The staff at ‘wichcraft is really nice. They’re always willing to answer questions, though at times it gets hectic so you’ll want to be patient if they’re mobbed. There’s no seating as it’s just a stand, but Bryant Park provides tons of chairs and tables nearby. On another note, I recently tried their peanut butter cookie and it’s wonderful. The cookie has a nice crispiness to it and the peanut butter filling in the center is creamy, salty and sweet at the same time. ‘wichcraft is a great addition to Bryant Park. If you’re in the area, check it out!

I had been wanting to go to one of Tom Colicchio’s gourmet sandwich shops, ‘wichcraft, for some time now. The Bryant Park location is always packed during lunchtime and seating is hard to find so I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this much quieter and less crowded location. I don’t watch a lot of reality TV so I didn’t realize that Tom Colicchio was the head judge on Top Chef but I have read rave reviews of his food and restaurants and tried his restaurant Riverpark over the summer. I like his use of fresh ingredients and his unexpected flavor combinations. ‘Wichcraft’s menu is pretty varied and some items are only a available on a seasonal basis. I opted to try one of their seasonal offerings– blackened flank steak sandwich w/romesco, grilled red onions & aged cheddar on grilled country bread. I saw some loyalty cards by the register– buy 12 sandwiches, get 1 free and buy 10 coffees, get 1 free. I quickly added both to my huge collection of loyalty cards. I’m a sucker for these! The cashier handed me a table tracker and I went to take a seat in one of their comfy booths. There is additional seating upstairs as well. My sandwich was served to me a few min later. The sandwich was competitvely priced(for midtown) for $ 7.99 and was a decent size. The blackened flank steak was nice and tender but I wouldn’t have called it blackened. The grilled country bread was warm and toasted and the red onions and aged cheddar went well with the steak. The romesco, a nut and red pepper-based sauce from Spain, was the highlight of the sandwich. Sort of like a Spanish version of pesto, it is typically made by blending a mixture of roasted or raw almonds, pine nuts, and/or hazelnuts, roasted garlic, olive oil, and different varieties of roasted red peppers. I really enjoyed the slightly gritty but mild romesco with the tender steak, melted cheese and crusty bread. I can’t wait to go back and try his other offerings!

This is another Midtown lunch time favorite. I’ve had both the free range roasted chicken with braised kale, pickled vegetables and spicy aioli on ciabatta and the slow-roasted Berkshire pork with Dijon mustard and bread and butter pickles on ciabatta. I’d say the pork sandwich is my favorite as all the flavors are well-balanced. The chicken one comes with a little too much mustard which is overpowering but it’s still a great sandwich. And the bread is super fresh! I usually go to that one but I’ve been to other locations and it’s pretty solid across the board. Also they have a new grilled steak sandwich which is awesome.
