First time trying this studio through class pass. The receptionist had me filled out a form with all types of personal information and I was late getting into the class. Shouldn’t they get all the info through class pass? What a bother for the client!
The whole place including the yoga studio looks very dirty and smelt badly that I had a hard time focusing on the practice. It is not a pleasant experience. I wouldn’t go back there.

This is not a yoga studio. Not sure what this is It’s so overcrowded that when you try to do a downdog you are literally in someone’s butt. Can’t practice yoga. And instructors are encouraged to pack as many bodies into the room as possible

I’ve been a yogi off and on for a while now and when I was deciding between joining a gym that offered classes or joining a studio, it was an easy choice after trying out Yoga Works on the UES. The studio is small but cozy and gives such a warm inviting atmosphere. The teachers are so welcoming to all levels and really great at guiding the growth of your practice. There’s also a variety of classes and levels so you can really explore different depths within your practice independently. You can find everything on their Yoga Works app for your phone that makes scheduling classes or tracking your attendance so easy — you can add a class right to your calendar.
For new comers: there’s always great deals going on! Make sure to not just check out Groupon but to also call YogaWorks directly to find out about the latest offers on membership programs and trial classes. You can rent your first mat free and then any other time is only $ 2. At the end of every month they usually have a deal on their shop like 20% off of clothing.
For the 9 – 6 workers, check out their 7:30PM Vinyassa classes M-​Th (T, Th: Dani level ½ and M, W: Veronica level 2) — great way to destress and build up a sweat.
If you’re looking for both an affordable and promising yoga studio to develop your practice, you cannot go wrong with YogaWorks Eastside. So much love is waiting for you!

Overall I have really been enjoying my experience at the studio.
The only con is that they gave me a hard time in the beginning about using my Groupon because I had utilized the FREE first week as advertised on their site the week before. I just felt like its irresponsible for YW to chastise customers about the stipulations THEY have with Groupon. Issues between Groupon and YW should be kept between them. I could care less about their «fine print» issues. Either modify the fine print or shut up about it. :)
BUT the teachers are amazing and knowledgeable, they make you feel welcomed, comfortable and are very encouraging.

EDIT–
Unilocalers should note that while their website and Groupon does not say it. Yoga works only allows for one trial/​promotional package per year according to the manager of UWS/​UES. So, consider this before using the one free week trial since you might not be able to use the Groupon (being sold for several months right now) if you do the one week trial before buying the one month membership. ($ 40 for one month — similar to another Groupon for Bikram in the same neighborhood). I professionally don’t think that interpretation is legally correct or in compliance with applicable FTC regulations, but to get them to honor it is a hassle. So just an advance warning.
My immediate problem was resolved after speaking with the manager but we will see how the classes go after going this month. A quick search shows over 7 yoga studios in the ten minute radius and I hope that YW realizes that customer service would be appreciated.
(Additionally, the front desk girl didn’t know what she was talking about… the Groupon legally binds them to accepting the voucher as long as you haven’t attended as a student. Their interpretation of the fine print is vague and misleading. This is exactly why Groupon was sued and settled for $ 8,500,000 a couple years back. They settled so the merchants on Groupon didn’t admit fault but not clearly disclosing limitations was one of the claims at hand. If their employees are going to resort to legal interpretations of their contracts (ie «it’s in the fine print»), they should make sure the employees know what they are talking about. The girls I spoke with did not, for all of their apparent confidence in their knowledge.)
I told YW that if that is what they meant with the fine print, they need to update it on the Groupon itself to comply with FTC regulations. The manager informed me she did tell Groupon but Groupon was not changing the actual voucher language, hence, the confusion.

I am waiting on the resolution of my situation but I’d skip the headache and just go to a different studio in UES. Since the reviews generally said that the classes are good but the facilities are usually packed and dirty, I tried a one week trial. I wasn’t convinced to commit or sign up but I saw that there was a discounted one month sale on Groupon. I got that to see if I changed my mind after going there more than a couple of days.
Unfortunately, the Groupon says you have to be a new student. I figured since I never paid and I only did their one week trial, I’m not a member/​student whatever you call it. YogaWorks UES was quite rude when they told me as I went to try out their classes that by trying their one week trial, I am no longer a new student! When I called to ask for the manager to see if we could resolve this. After all, no gym tells you that because you used the weekly pass that you’re not a new member. The girl told me the manager was out and I left my name and number. When I told her what this was in regards to, she first said that a new student is someone who has not paid for classes. So I said that was me. Then she said I can’t have attended any classes in the past year! That even attending a class as a visitor (guest pass/​free week pass) counts as a student even if you’re a guest.
What really rubbed me the wrong way was how they weren’t even trying to figure out what went wrong. It was just — you came here before & the Groupon has fine print. Meanwhile, I get an email from YogaWorks every week asking me to join and offering new promotions on signing up?
Note also that I bought my Groupon months ago due to «limited time remaining». It’s still available.
I’m currently waiting for the manager’s return call as well as for Groupon to resolve this. If they meant that you can’t have used any other visitor program/​pass, they should have noted it on the fine print instead of saying a student which makes one assume that you have to be enrolled there as a paying student (like most gyms and studios that I have attended… I try out the program and then if I like it, I pay and become a member/​students). Logical right?
Review subject to update if the management can resolve the situation amicably other than the front desk’s, «look at the fine print».

I went there for one month with the Groupon and I love every class. They have good teachers. The class room is not big so don’t forget to register or show up early for the classes in high demand!

With wonderful staff comes wonderful yoga… and vice-​versa. I am always treated with courtesy and kindness when I come to YogaWorks. I’m really happy they are in my neighborhood and in my life.

The practice of yoga (specifically Vinyassa) is one of the greatest gifts one can give their bodies and overall health. That being said, the receiving of this gift is largely based on the teacher’s ability to communicate it. It’s a bit of a challenge to find really good yoga instructors.
I used to come to this studio a few years ago when I lived in Spanish Harlem. Today was my first time back since then. I took a Level 2 Vinyassa Flo instructed by Lisa Zaloga.
Lisa’s class was awesome! Her teaching style is compassionate and encouraging but the asanas will definitely wake your body up. Today the emphasis was on handstands and she did a great job in building up to doing them throughout the class. Although I didn’t quite get to a full one on my own today, I’m confident that with repetition of effort and her guidance, I’d get there quickly. She had a great tone, presence, and energy as she led us through what I regarded to be a pretty challenging set of poses.
That’s one of the incredible gifts of yoga, it teaches you to face your challenges head on. Lisa announced today that next week will be her last week until Memorial Day as she will be teaching in the Hamptons for the remainder of the Spring/​Summer.
Will definitely be coming back to YogaWorks Eastside. Check Lisa’s class out if you can catch her before she leaves. Handstands yo, handstands. ..

In terms of prenatal yoga, Yogaworks Eastside is the most convenient. It offers prenatal classes everyday of the week except for Sunday AND they’re at reasonable times in the evenings for those of us who choose work while pregnant. I also like how I can reserve classes during the weekday to know I’ll have a spot. The Saturday class can get a little crowded, but Jackie is really good about teaching such a large class and making sure everyone gets the help they need. Because it’s prenatal yoga, even when space is a little tight, we’re not doing super crazy things where we can smack our neighbors.
The staff is super friendly at this location and they’re always having sales on all their yoga items in the store. The only other downside aside from the limited space (hey, it’s New York… what do you expect?) is that there is only one bathroom which can be in high demand with a group of pregnant ladies before and after class. :)

I like yoga works, I’m just not a fan of this studio. The classrooms are small and they cram as many people as possible into a class so you’re practically touching your neighbor. It just makes it hard to relax when you’re worried about hitting the person next to you. If you want a better studio I suggest SoHo or UWS, both are much bigger with more classes and more studio room. Jess Blake is one of my favorite instructors but really they are all pretty good and knowledgable.

Love the prenatal classes– I’ve been attending for about 20 weeks. Jocelyn is my favorite instructor so far. The attendants at the front are always friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Space is a bit tight, and ambiance isn’t the best, but it’s nyc and that means good space is hard to come by.

There’s as reason why this place has 3 stars, it’s because it’s anti-​zen. Small, overcrowded and dirty studios, mediocre scattered teachers, and a customer-​unfriendly experience all lead to this. Bad core yoga experience + hidden fees does not equal customer zen.

I just went there for my first class and it was a great experience! Everyone there is so kind and willing to help you. It’s a little expensive but totally worth the money with the amount of personal attention you receive

I bought a Groupon for YogaWorks UES and was involved in an accident shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, YogaWorks by way of Groupon policy would not honor my request for an extension on my voucher nor were they accommodating or friendly about it. I spoke with both YogaWorks and Groupon and, to be honest, am disappointed that they could not do anything to help me given the unusual situation. They’ve lost me as a potential client, as well as all of my friends because you better believe I’ve shared my feedback.

I came here for their 7am class, which of course was filled with hardcore yoga people! Haha. There were probably only about ten students in this class, and they were VERY good! I was struggling a bit but they tell you to do what you can, so it was all good. I like how they provide blocks, mats are $ 2 (free for your first time), and there’s blankets to sit on.

I came here on a Saturday morning for a Fundamentals of Yoga class. It was my first time coming here and they actually let me take the class free of charge just to get a sense for what the classes were like. There were maybe 8 people in the class… it was very intimate, and the instructor was patient and gave everyone individual attention.

I was reluctant to try this studio because I am not a big fan of chains but I was really desperate one night and wanted to go to a yoga class in the UES.
I also knew that they have a one week FREE trial offer for new students so I took advantage of it one night last week.
The studio is really spacious and that’s pretty hard to come by in New York. They also have a boutique selling all sorts of yoga apparel, accessories and books. Now granted the prices are marked a bit, but they have a good selection of yoga mats and books for sale.
The receptionist was very nice and signed me up for the YogaWorks ½ class. And if it is your first time at the studio, the yoga mat rental is for free. They also offer free water and teas, so those are nice perks.
There are two rooms for yoga practice and I liked the room we practised in. Our instructor Dani (sp??) was very nice and friendly. She was also an excellent teacher. The class itself is more about stretching and learning the CORRECT way to get into poses. I really enjoyed the instruction. I have been practising yoga for over 7 years and there are still things I am doing wrong and each time I go to a different studio, I find I am learning more and implementing what I have learned to my own practise.
I wanted to not like this place, but in the end, they won me over and I still have a few days to practise for FREE! Next stop, the location in SOHO.

cons:
— can get really crowded
— same classes offered at the same time everyday; I can’t ever make it to a vinyasa because it is never offered at 7:30 pm.
overall, it is a good studio.

I actually liked this studio despite the negative reviews.
Pros:
1) Close to the train station
2) Friendly front desk peeps
3) A lot of classes on their schedule
4) They have their windows opened so you’re not dying in sweat and other people’s odor
5) A bathroom, 2 changing rooms with curtains
6) Scanning card so you can register quickly
7) Instructors will adjust you
8) Free tea and water!!!
Cons:
1) No online registration, no capping of classes so people still walk in after class has started
2) It can get crowded at times, so get there 10 – 15 minutes early
3) No lockers
Classes were pretty standard. They’re big on shoulder opening and working with your body.
