I grew up in Delaware and only tried Ali Baba recently. Can’t believe what I have been missing all these years! The food, drinks, portion sizes, and prices are fantastic. The taste and quality is truly excellent. Hookah is very popular here but I actually just go for the food. Try to go on a night where there is bellydancing as well. Fun entertainment while sitting and eating. The fattoush salad, falafel, hummus, baba ghanuj, eggplant, and white garlic sauce are my personal favorites. The décor is authentic and all in all is a great dining experience.

The best lamb and rice dish I ever had. It wasn’t on the menu but the servers recommended and it hit the spot 100%

Lamb Kebabs were dry and service was slow. Now I am not exactly an expert on Kebabs, but I would have imagined they should be tender and juicy.

Best hookah Place period. Very easy nice casual chilled out place. The food is very good too. And for the price, it is awesome. The guys are very friendly too. Have been here so many times, didn’t realize tht I have not reviewed it. Best place to hangout with friends and enjoy conversation. The music plays in the background. Outdoor seating is for hookah and indoors for food. I would recommend indoors of coming with kids. Overall the crowd is very young as it is student area. Highly recommend this place.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Ali Baba’s yet. I love this place. Anytime I am in Newark I try to come here. The Moroccan chicken is amazing especially with the carrot salad. Staff is always friendly and polite and the atmosphere is nice. Although there is a hooka section they do a good job of keeping that out of the main dining area.

We came in here on a whim for our anniversary dinner after a bad experience at another Main Street restaurant(which shall remain unnamed.) This place was phenomenal. Staff is extremely friendly and attentive, from the moment you walk in grouchy and hungry, to the moment you waddle out, stuffed full of delicious Middle Eastern food. We ordered the stuffed grape leaves, house hummus platter, lamb skewers, and a lamb stew that the waiter recommended but wasn’t on the menu. 5⁄5 for everything. We will be returning with friends!

Excellent service and food… the area dedicated for hookah is small although well ventilated. Service staff was very helpful in suggesting great dishes and assisted us in not ordering duplicate dishes. Price combined with food makes it 4 thumbs up for me. P. S. Parking can be a challenge. Their parking lot is small but lots of options in the area. Do not be tempted to part in the burger King lot next door, they will tow. It cost me 100 bucks…

I love how fresh the food is here. Very tasty, and fairly priced for the amount of food you get, and a very cute environment on the inside.

The food was amazing. When you want to try something different this is the place to go. The food is very flavorful. The samosa’s are a must try. My husband had a lamb stew that was so tender. And I had the chicken on a stick. Both were very good. The sauces that come on the side are all home made. The price was just right. The service was great.

Ali Baba is my favorite restaurant. I have never had a meal that I wasn’t completely satisfied with(and we’ve been there many times for lunch and dinner). The chicken and lamb are always so tender, and vegetables are perfect(I could make a whole meal of the carrot and cucumber salad). Even my 10 year old likes the food(and he’s usually a mac-n-cheese kid) The décor is fun… lots of beads, brass and cushions and the waiters are authentically friendly and attentive. hmmm… now I’m in the mood to go to Ali Baba. –Kim B

This has to be one of my favorite places in Delaware. It’s a nice middle eastern restaurant serving hookah and loads of middle eastern delicacies. One of my must haves here is the Alibaba hummus. Ground beef on a bed of olive oil surrounded by creamy hummus with warm pitas, heaven. Moroccan chicken and grape leaves are a must try too. All day $ 3 beers are the cherry on the cake. Their hookahs are out of the world and so reasonable. They don’t charge you to change the coal like a lot of other places in downtown philly do. The restaurant is always busy but the servers and owners are always very welcoming. Overall, great service, great food and great hookahs.

This place has a lentil soup to die for. The balance of the flavours are perfect. Their kibis are crispy without being charred… yummy. I had the lamb skewers… ENCORE Not raw not medium not well done… simply perfect If you are looking for a healthy meal not loaded with salt with balanced and great use of spices, this is the place to go. Prices very, very reasonable. Service was nice, courteous and friendly. A luxury in this country now a days. :-) My only pet peeve was my mint tea… why did they served it sweetened… I cannot figure that out yet.

Excellent middle eastern food with a fantastic Turkish flair to it. The lamb schwarma is amazing and the baba ganoush is some of the best I’ve had. Food and drinks are very cheap. I will be back!

My favorite place!!! Love it! If you aren’t familiar with Middle Eastern foods don’t think you are heading here for Indian. I always have people ask me if its Indian food and I explain its not. I love the falafel, the eggplant salad(more like a stew than a salad)(hard to explain but it’s delicious) and the Lebanese salad with pita and feta cheese. So much good stuff here and I recommend getting several things for sharing with your group. Be prepared to sit low on either stools or couch like seating with low tables. Very relaxed feel and friendly service.

The best falafel wrap I’ve had since I left Toronto a few years ago. Seriously. I want to make a special trip to Newark from Philly just to have another. Next time I’ll try their shawarma. If it’s anything like the falafel, it’s going to make my mouth explode. I only sat inside to wait for my take-out order, but the ambiance was nice and the staff very friendly. They offer hookas and tobacco blends; while I’m not into it, my sister would probably love this place. I didn’t notice any smoke in the air and it didn’t seem stuffy or stifling. I quit smoking cigarettes a couple years ago so I’m a little sensitive to secondhand smoke, but I didn’t notice any in the restaurant, which means they probably have adequate ventilation to support having the hooka option. I think I’ll bring a few friends here to actually sit down for a meal; just from my brief time waiting and sipping on a Lebanese Coffee, I think we’ll have a great meal.

Hookah bar and restaurant. Arrived at 11:35(the sign posted in front door says it opens at 11) but front door was locked. I came in through the rear entrance. A young man informed me that the food would be a while because the cooks had just arrived for the day. The Moroccan eggplant salad was delightful! The chicken wraps were yummy, too.
