The pizza was good but the $ 16 garlic & oil pasta with veal was a 4star let down. I want to believe this establishment isn’t hard up for cash but when you blatantly disregard the foul smell of spoiled veal and you go ahead & dish it up disregarding the aroma of spoiled meat to make a buck someone needs to retrained in COOKING101! My order came to $ 60 some odd dollars hopefully whomever made my dish can take it & buy some fresh veal so the next poor soul doesn’t suffer what I went through after sampling the garbage you plated up for me to eat. Sorry but I DIDN’T &WOULDN’T of allowed my dogs to eat it! I would of been better off balling up a $ 20 bill and tossing it into the garbage.

This is the best pizza in town. I was shocked by the pizza the first time I had it. Really really love the place. They also have different types of Italian food as well, also in good quality. The price is also fair, if not on the low end.

Great lunch deal and awesome pizza. Amalfi chicken salad is very tasty. it can get busy during lunch, but worth the wait.

Clearly all these reviews are old or fake! This place is disgusting! From the moment you pull up half the sign is missing off the business. The young guy behind the counter couldn’t be bothered to say hello or can I help you. They didn’t bother to have my carryout order ready suprise since they never asked my name when I called! The eggplant Parmesan was disgusting! A greasy cheesy oily mess with eggplant so tough it couldn’t even cut properly! Yuck ! Then a side of watery marinara with over cooked pasta… 2 sides of hard stale bread… a salad that was the only edible thing I purchased… Oh and those garlic knots were a joke! Mine were burnt, hard, and cold! All of my dinner ended up in the trash! Total waste of money! …Now I will also state I was there on a Friday night at 8pm and the place was busy… But who cares if you can’t prepare consistently good food and consistently good customer service you shouldn’t be in business!

Everything looked amazing!!! I was just passing through and wanted a quick, healthy bite. I was able to find a salad option on the menu, after requiring every ounce of my will power to stay away from the pizza and pasta. I had the Amalfi grilled chicken salad. Unreal. Huge. Fresh. I will definitely be stopping back on a cheat day.

Hands down one of the best pizza places in Newark, Delaware. They always have a variety of pizza, desert, sandwiches and side options on the counter. If you dine in your hostess also brings you a plethora of bread and a side salad. They also have a student discount of 10% off of your entire order. Definitely try this place if you’re craving Italian.

This is the BEST Italian restaurant in North Delaware. Their entres are amazing especially the penne vodka and their sauce tastes just like grandma’s. It’s an amazing casual Italian dining experiance and I have even ordered off menu items and they still taste impeccable. Their pizza is ok and would be much better if the regular slices were thinner and crispyer/less doughy but their specialty slices are the best.

We no longer live in Newark and we will always miss Amalfis. Their Eggplant Parmesan is beyond compare– I’ve never found another one as good. Don’t let the small storefront keep you from enjoying this– it’s one of a kind!

I stopped by last Tues. at around 6:30pm with my brother to grab some pizza. Given that I’d spent all day traveling, I was in the mood for a takeout dinner. Turning to my trusty Unilocal app, I saw that I’d bookmarked Amalfi, and that it was nearby. I suggested it to my brother, and he was game for trying it out, so I called and ordered a large(16″) grandmom pizza for pickup($ 15.95). It took about 20 min. to prepare, after which we picked it up and carted it back to my parents’ place for prompt consumption. The grandmom pizza was similar to a neapolitan style pizza, with ingredients consisting of sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil. The main difference was that the crust was thicker than that of most of the traditional neapolitan style pies I’ve tried, and was thus more similar to the crust of American style pies. When it comes to pizza, I’m a stickler for a crispy crust, and the crust of this pie wasn’t as crispy as the thinner crust I’m accustomed to for Neapolitan pies. The quality and flavor of the other ingredients was flavorful and fresh. However, the pie was a bit greasier than other neapolitan style pies I’ve had, and than I prefer. Despite these shortcomings, the overall effect of the pie was good, if heavier than neapolitan style pies I’ve had, and my brother and I enjoyed it. Overall, my brother and I were pleased with the pie that we received from Amalfi, and would return. While the price was slightly high, they offer a 10% discount for UD student ID holders, which my brother was able to take advantage of. Amalfi’s definitely worth checking out if you happen to be in the area, so consider giving them a try.

4.5 stars! Garlic bread cheesesteak was unbeatable. Bacon cheeseburger was also remarkable! Bread(I would guess it was freshly made on-site daily) & butter, plus a few pieces of tomato pie come out in a basket to munch on as you wait for your order. Wait time was reasonable, staff was friendly and competent, all at a fair price.

This pizza is the best in the area I recommend getting a fresh pie if you are going to order more than a few slices. My favorite is their white pizza but their BBQ chicken and then chicken Alfredo come in second and third. It gets really busy at lunch so if you are ordering by the pizza I recommend calling ahead and getting take out. It can be crowded and get a little loud if you dine in.

Quick last minute decision to grab some grub has turned into my new«go to» for pizza! Great selection here. I just tried chicken Cesar salad pizza and can’t get over how yummy it is. Wish they had late night hours and delivery! The dining area was a mess. I’m not holding that against them as its lunch time and they could be short staffed. The folks next to us both ordered the chef salad and I believe a family of four could’ve eaten off one of them! 18.00 and change bought us four slices of gourmet pizza and two drinks. Full as a tick! #bestpizza

Upon entering the restaurant I thought I had made a poor decision. You first walk down a hallway that made me wonder where I was going. After you get in, the restaurant is fine. The pizza was very good and I would definitely order it again if I’m in the area again.

this place is a great. what a little hidden secret! prices: very fair if not cheap on some items service: ACE. so helpful, so nice, always smiling ambiance: smells like garlic! feels exactly like what an awesome little italian place should feel like. Ive been 2x now, both for take out. when you enter there is a entrance way created by a barrier b/w/entrance and dining room. this is great b/c you don’t feel weird walking past people eating and they aren’t bothered by you, either. smart use of space. also, you can grab a menu quickly & figure out what to get, instead of being sort of in the way by the register or counter w/all the slices and other yummy things. A little thing but something i noticed. Okay, on to the part you care about: food— first time: we got garlic knots(4 for $ 1, ok?) and a medley of their prepared veggies – broccoli rabe, eggplant, roasted peppers(i think that was $ 7 or $ 8 and a generous portion). all delicious. and they gave us a free cannoli to be nice, which was SO good. visit 2: PIZZA. I tried 3 slices to bring home — plain cheese(perhaps the most true test), veggie(loaded w/veggies!), and one called grandma’s favorite or something like that — fresh mozz, basil, you know the drill. All of them were delicious. very fresh, very good. worth the calories. the 3 slices(big) plus the garlic knots(i mean, you have to) was $ 8. bonus: staff is so friendly and helpful. I wish i discovered this place sooner! now i know :)

Amalfi is of those hidden gems in a strip mall in the thriving region of Newark De. I’ve only eaten here twice but the food is authentic and the prices are very reasonable. The staff(there are many) are very upbeat, chatty and informative when it comes to selecting a few items off their large menu! –yes, the garlic knots need their own paragraph– These magical balls of perfectly cooked bread are coated with butter and freshly diced garlic. I was baffled when asking the cost. In my mind I was thinking of ordering 2 – 4. Bam…4 for $ 1. Of course I ordered 8. Who doesn’t need 8 bread balls for a single meal? The knots are served with homemade marinara which has a nice blend of tomatoes, basil, and onions! Semi sweet and fully flavored! After a solid minute of thought processing I’ve concluded that there is absolutely no better way to spend a quarter! I also ordered the eggplant, roasted red peppers and the broccoli rabe medley. All very satisfying. I must mention the generous portion as well! My meal was shared by 2 people and we still had leftovers, which tasted just as delicious the next day. On my 2nd visit I ordered the Gnocchi, I switched it up and ordered it with butter and fried onions. It came with 2 rolls that were so very fresh soft and hearty, requiring zero butter and a side salad with their house vinaigrette(one of the best dressings I’ve had.) The gnocchi time hopped me back into my grandmothers kitchen… simple but mouth watering good. I ordered marinara on the side and that was great as well. Again, portion size was very generous, as I was able to make three meals out of one entrée. During my first we were given a free cannoli. This treat was straight out of Sicily. The cream had the perfect amount of ricotta and the friend pastry dough… mmmm! I haven’t even tried their pizza yet so needless to say, I shall return! Two entirely great experiences!

This is easily my favorite pizza in Newark if not Delaware. The only exception I would say is for wood fired pizza, I see that as a separate category. This is New York style(not comparing to NY pizza). They use fresh ingredients like garlic, tomatoes, veggies & it’s consistently good every time.

I love this place. One of the best pizza places in DE. One tip… if you get there right before closing. .they may offer you two slices for the price of one. Also, I would try some of their other dishes besides pizza… I tried their broccoli rabe once… it was delish! Nice treat!

Leaving Delaware, I thought I would grab a quick bite before hitting the road and along comes a «$ 4 for two slices» sign. If that wasn’t lucky enough, it was some fantastic pizza! This is the kind of pizza you can’t get down south. Call it NY style if you want, but this Delaware pizza shop was awesome !

Amalfi is seriously good! Nestled in the Suburban Square shopping center on Elkton Rd, I’m lucky to have such authentic food close by. Every dish I have tried was delicious, from the pizza, to lasagna, to ziti, and more. Everything is very fresh and delicious. And this is coming from a pizza snob from New York. Everyone is very friendly, although sometimes it can be very busy and crowded. If you are planning on getting take out around dinnertime, especially on weekends, call ahead if you can.
