Sadly, it has gone from bad to worse. Went there today, when we arrived at around 4pm all the tables in the main room were dirty. Kamran was busy playing with his new toy, the karaōke machine. He made us sit on the far end where there were a few clean tables and then called the cook Shahnawaz Khan came out for a brief chat and take our order. We knew what we wanted and ordered our favorites Chicken Karahi, Lamb Karahi and Chapli kabab all Peshaweri Style. During our hour wait for our food another customer also has come into the restaurant. Chapli and Chicken were great!!! The lamb had an issue. It was the meat, something was not good, little meat and more bones etc and it was tough. The other family had ordered the same thing sent theirs back too to be cooked more. While we were dining on the rest of our order Kamran was busy complaining to the other family that he wanted to introduce goat as an alternative on his menu and remove lamb. He did not like lamb and offered the other family chicken karahi instead. They refused saying they came for the lamb karahi. Between complaining about lamb meat and playing with his karaōke machine it took another hour for the lamb to come out. It came back but again on the tough side. We just took ours to go. I called out the cook to ask why the quality of the lamb meat has gone down. He could not tell me much. While leaving I was expecting some sort of apology from Kamran but instead got excuses and the statement, «Its the location, we are in a bad location, if the restaurant succeeds it will succeed otherwise I do not care,» my jaw dropped, WOW!!! That is not an attitude to run a restaurant and I am pretty sure that is why his first Basant in San Ramon failed(confirmed by checking his aweful reviews for Basant, San Ramon). Anyways, hope the cook can open his own restaurant because no more Basant or Mr. Kamran for us. I do not blame the cook at all, he cannot perform magic on the material he is provided with after all he can try to make a meal from leather but if its not something proper, all he can do is try his best and he has…
