Mehran Restaurant and Catering

Beware of this Paki guys!
We went in the month of holy Ramandan and this is guys are big cheater. I had Groupon coupon of $ 40 and when I was ordering he asked me about the coupon. When he knew, I’d coupon he told the waiter that I have coupon. So they discriminate people!
Food was horrible. and we asked for Navratna Korma and he got us mixed veg. with Brocoli. Really?
At the end he charged extra $ 7 for Groupon…
Anyways, not recommended! Stay away from this Paki Restaurant!

Came here for a wedding and although the hall was decent, the food was really lacking. I wasn’t sure what meat they made the kabobs out of but it definitely wasn’t beef. Also they kept running out of appetizers and the hall wasn’t even at half capacity.

I’ve never eaten at the restaurant itself, but this is a regular spot in our community for get togethers and formal events/​receptions. It is generally always decorated very nicely, and I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad time here. The food is usually good, depending on what is being prepared for the event. I don’t know if they allow outside catering if you rent one of the halls, but to be honest I don’t come to the events for the food (I know, right?) I don’t really have a good or bad opinion of the place is what I guess I’m trying to say. It’s just kind of… there.

Horrible service and very unprofessional owner. I do not recommend this place for events. Chris (he claims to be the owner) is a very bad person has no respect for his clients. All he cares is money. Once he takes your money, he won’t even call or follow up. Most of the reviews here are friends and families. He changes the menu and or says that he didn’t recall having certain items on the menu. I can’t believe this place is still open with the kind of food «dirty» they serve.

There is nothing «Meh» about Mehran. My friend and I visited for dinner for the first time having dined at many other Indian establishments in the Bay Area (we are not of Indian descent).

Although the service was slow at first, the responsiveness picked up for the remainder of the experience.

This place is not good. I purchased a groupon (lunch for 2 for $ 12). The staff charged me an extra $ 8 for the buffet. Am not sure y did they even do that coz frankly first thing since i had this groupon i went there to try secondly food is not worth it. The place also stinks. I hated the food except the biryani was just good enough to eat. And ofcourse its just for non vegetarians and not for vegetarians.
The staff os okie but behaved bad when i said that i have a groupon to be redeemed and said he does not have time for all that. He was irritated but had to process the order and then charged extra bucks for this awful place and food. Never going back again.

Our family dined at Mehran for many years both in Union City and then Newark. We stopped a while back when service and food quality declined and we began to feel like the center dining room had become a poor step-​child abandoned to a focus on banquets. My husband and I decided to give the weekday lunch buffet a try again and were pleasantly surprised. The buffet area was renovated as well as the menu. Delicious tandoori chicken, goat curry and chapli kebabs. Even a return of tableclothes and attentive, pleasant service! I want to come back soon to see if this is an upward trend. I do hope so. We’ve always loved Mehran.
Note to readers and critics: This is an Indo-​Pak restaurant. Please don’t go there expecting South Indian fare.

This is my favorite restaurant. I love it. The owner Fiaz is great and food tasted good.

Honestly the worst place hands down. Service was bad, came here for a wedding and they ran out of appetizers, forks, and the food was utterly disgusting.

I had a group on for Mehran so I went there. This is the worst Indian food I have ever had. I literally had to throw half of the food. Regret going there.

My fiancé and I dinner here last night with a Groupon and we loved the food. I’ve never had a bad Indian meal in Fremont but this place is so far my favorite. The prices are less than its competitors and the food is just as good. I have no complaints about their service and only compliments on the food. As far as the negative reviews, I am SO perplexed as to why so many people disliked their experience. Since most of the negative reviews are prior to 2014, I think this place changed management for the better. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed dinner last night and will return even without a Groupon!

Worst restaurant i have ever seen in my life… dont go to this restaurant guys… the owner is a bastard guy… they even dont know English too… i cant beleive how they are managing this worst restaurant…

Not bad food…
Most of the items are average, nothing excellent. The ambience is good

The food was bad. The gravies were not so great. The panneer was hard. The only silver lining was that the nans were cooked properly.

I get food catered, always satisfied and quantity is more than enough.
Always get the best customer service from Mr. Ashok. Had done party several times at Mehran, Mr. Ashok helps me with menu and he makes sure that my party is hit. Would recommend Mehran to my friends!

We stumbled upon this place in a strip mall… it’s obviously made for larger parties since it seems to have 2 ballrooms. The buffet lunch was ok. Nothing stood out as wonderful, but it was pretty good. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very accommodating and even brought me a special vegetarian dish after he realized there were only 2 veg dishes on the buffet. That was very much appreciated.
Walking through one of the ballrooms to the bathroom was kind of a sketchy experience though. Many construction workers were sawing things… had to step over electrical wires and men gawking at me to and from the bathroom :/

Pains me to give a business 1 star, but I’ll make an exception for this place. Actually if I could give –5 stars, I would.
I had an event here and regretting it BIG TIME. The food sucks, management sucks, and service sucks.
Their catering team was about 3 hours late serving food and when they did there was not an ample amount of food, so it ran out. Embarrassing.
The manager was busy stuffing his face to care about managing his staff and making sure food got served, and the servers that worked here tried to asked us for payment as if we hired them. WTF.
These are just 2 of the 100 things that were wrong with this place.
Just a horrible experience from start to finish.

Worst catering Indian restaurant EVER!
We had a small party on ¹²⁄₂₆₂ 014. When we walked in to our venue, it was very cold. Thermostat was showing at 56 degree!!! We immediately complain to management and they said it would take few minutes to warm up but it never went above 56. We kept complaining but they did not buzz. We had small kids from 2 to 6 years old all were shivering but they did not care and few of them got sick next day. All of us had to wear coats/​jackets to stay warm; can you imagine wearing big jackets on an evening indoor party in USA?
Misery continue when they served food. every single curries was swimming on oil! I have pictures of this but I am not sure Unilocal allows me to post pictures in a review. We know Indian food could be little oily but this was way too much! We hardly eat anything because all we saw on our plate was grease. When we asked ASHOK, their so called manager, about oily food and cold room, he simply said,‘What can I do’…
They completely ruined our party so I hope no one falls for their trap. We made a mistake by paying everything on advance so DO NOT DO EVER THAT. Please do not ever book this place for any of your ceremonies.
I would give them ‘0’ star if possible.

I ordered achari chicken.
They mixed achar (mixed pickle) on some chicken curry.
Extremely disappointing. I have tasted achari chicken at many restaurants but none so disappointing
I was the only person for dining time on Friday night but service was extremely slow
