Little disappointed my chicken dish had big chunks of cartilage for the 2nd consecutive visit. Too many new places popping up in Newark now to have to deal with this.

Amazing fresh and healthy food. Great staff, very clean and an amazing ambiance. I love how the chefs prepare my usual meal without me asking. They know my meals. Great personal touch. The owner is super amazing and always makes sure he is hands on and very detailed oriented with his customers.

I really like this place, but honestly this place is extremely expensive. Especially to eat at everyday. My coworker and I have ordered from this place several times and have taken a brief walk to the location, and even eaten on site. The establishment is clean, and everyone is always friendly. Service is also pretty quick. We usually stick to the salmon wrap, but I’ve had other items on the menu. I’ve had the chili which I liked and recently ordered the salmon salad, which was also quite good. Basically the same thing in the wrap, but in a bowl instead lol… The sweet sesame dressing is absolutely delicious. Again, I have to reiterate the place is too expensive for an everyday lunch meal and the portions are small… the salad and honest tea I had came to $ 13.65. Can’t do that everyday.

This is a great spot to grab a quick, healthy lunch. I’ve tried their breakfast and lunch and I must say its impressive — for Newark that is(I’m a NY/Brooklyn gal). I had their egg white, turkey bacon and low-fat cheese wrap for breakfast and the southwest Bison w/brown rice quinoa for lunch. Next time around, I would avoid the rice b/c they give entirely too much and get a wrap instead. The breakfast was very good but I’ll opt to bring mine from home. From a financial prospective, I spent $ 16 including tax on both breakfast and lunch, which is pricey considering breakfast never costs me more than $ 3. Overall, a cute spot!

Ordered for pick-up during lunchtime for myself and 7 co-workers. I chose BB for the tasy-sounding, clean menu items. To make a long story short, I didn’t make the last click to «complete» my order online so BB never got the order. They not only rushed it once I got there, but they honored the 20% off coupon I had wanted to use online. I had the Salmon + Brown Rice/Quinoa bowl with avocado. Myself and all 7 of my co-workers LOVED our meals and we will definitely be ordering from here again. (They have also have a large outdoor seating area, which I will take advantage of next time!)

If you’re looking for a tasty healthy meal this is the place to go. The southwest bison wrap is a must, I usually get this at least once a week. Downside is that they are fairly pricey, you will be spending a minimum of 10 dollars for your lunch, probably more. Overall great place.

I hate to say it but the idea of this place is better than the actual place. I’m a vegetarian and they did not have a very diverse selection for this kind of diet. The«veggie» burger did not list ingredients but after I purchased and tasted it, I realized it was mostly soy and corn. Not very inventive at all. I also had a cucumber salad. It’s was loaded with sugar(yes sugar in the salad). It filled my tummy because I was hungry but I probably will never come again.

Tried the Bison Burger and like the healthy menu options. Problem is, once again, it’s not really that cheap. And getting things like black beans and a mashed sweet potato for side pieces is awesome, but I know how much those things costs in the store. Nothing wrong, but nothing great here. I would love to give it more stars because you have to applaud a company trying to make healthy food in city states. But everything was just average to pretty good.

I really enjoy this place. Small place with about 20 seats upstairs, with a view of newark in their floor to ceiling windows. The food here is cooked fresh right in front of you and they always seem to cook things right. They have wraps, burgers, chili, soup, salads, and even shakes. They offer bison, chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon etc… One thing i do like is they give you an option to put your wrap or burger over a bed of brown rice or mixed vegetables if you would like. I personally love the southwest bison wrap over brown rice. It comes with fresh avocado slices, chipotle aioli, and pico de gallo. Its quite wonderful and they cook the fresh ground bison to order. My coworkers have gotten salmon, turkey, and tuna before and no one has had a negative thing to say. This is a good place you can go and get something relatively more healthy then some of the other places in the area and for a good price.

For starters, the staff were super friendly and the interior was perfect. Great amount of ambient lighting overall and walking distance to Penn Station. I ordered the Santorini Bison Burger and WOW! The burger was delicious, you can taste the quality in each bite. The bun was as fresh as it could be, which was great for this sandwich. Held together well, had great flavor to go along with the spices of the sauce. I had a side of smashed sweet potatoes which made the meal that much better! We will definitely be coming back! I can’t wait to try the Pesto Vegetable Salad and some of the other burgers and sides. This would be a great place to order different sandwiches and swap halves with the people you’re going with. This is my new must stop in Newark!

Got an oriental wrap and smashed sweet potato. The wrap was fresh and tasted awesome. The sweet potato was good too. Can’t wait to try out the other items on the menu. They accept credit cards but have a $ 10 minimum.

Um why is this place not a chain? They definitely have the branding down and I think they would do really well with more locations. Anyways, the first time I came here was almost 3 years ago after I’d first moved. I remember it being pretty good, and I didn’t return for so long not because of anything other than convenience. They close at 4 pm and parking near them is a nightmare so I think I just never really gave coming back a second chance. Anyways, it’s awesome to see this place be open as there aren’t a ton of options near here(though a lot more have opened). They have a pretty simple menu– wraps, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and breakfast. Lots of healthy options like brown rice, light dressings and cheeses, egg whites, turkey bacon, bison meat, and so on. They are smart and use a lot of repeated ingredients in multiple items which makes the prices pretty reasonable as well. I loved my egg white breakfast omelet and from what I remember, the salmon and whipped sweet potato I tried on my first visit were good too. The food is a solid 3 and a half to 4 stars but I rounded up because I love that they have added an extra option for food in the area. Love that they open at 8 am for breakfast also. They do deliver but only in a 5 block radius for those who live or work nearby(I think their delivery vehicle is a bike which is the reason for the limited distance). I also tried the chocolate peanut butter protein shake and it was huge– maybe 24 ounces or so. I drank half of it and was full all morning and afternoon. Keep up the great work Better Bites. Hoping you expand your hours soon too.

Pretty nice place on Broad. I love the location near the park for you to take a salad/sandwich to eat. The folks behind the counter are nice, and the owner/manager is pretty friendly and accomodating. I’ve had their veggie burger in a wrap style. It was tasty– I asked for the asian sauce to be added to the wrap and I think they forgot– but the humus was pretty tasty as well. I went back a few days later and thoroughly enjoyed the tuna salad though. A large is very filling, the tuna is fresh and there is a great crunch to the salad from somewhere– something. There is just great things happening in the bowl and you couldn’t tell where and what bite– lovely. I did add more dressing though. It’s the only way I can down a salad and be full. It’s almost $ 10 so its not a cheap option, but its clean, fresh, and tasty. I need to try their salmon plates next… it look delish! Suggestions: I demand sweet potato fries– I don’t see it anywhere in the area so it would be a hit here. Disappointed they dont have a vegatrian soup… I’d say to replace their chicken broth for regular veggie broth and have one of their two soups be vegetarian friendly!

The three stars is only for the food I would give it another but the service isn’t there at all. I was the only customer in Better bites and no one acknowledge me. I felt like I was bothering the cashier. She just said are you ready? And didn’t make eye contact with me… she was writing something. I went with the salmon over brown rice. The salmon was cooked to perfection! the rice was well cooked and I loose the green salad. The hummus a little to garlicky for my taste but ok. I suggest you advise your cashiers to be a little more friendly and welcoming.

I can’t speak for much of the menu here because I’ve only ever been back for the first thing I ate here: The Asian Tuna salad. Can’t get enough of that napa cabbage, soy chili tuna, shredded carrots, a little bit of scallion and some toasted ramen drizzled with a sweet soy vinaigrette dressing. Yum! The small salads are quite filling and will set you back $ 8.50. As an occasional lunch(okay, more like bi-weekly) it’s a good deal and gets me out for a walk across downtown. That’s a double dose of healthy and it’s cheaper than a gym membership! If I sound like I’m rationalizing spending that much on a salad, I totally am. Place gets pretty packed at noon so the upstairs sitting area can get a little cramped. I usually take mine to go. Wait time is quick for salads, a lot longer for those waiting on anything off the grill. Menu is full of healthy options and maybe one day I’ll branch out past my Asian Tuna salad fixation.

A healthy, casual spot in #Newark? Yes. Please. Located just a few blocks from Penn Station, Better Bites, although you may not say is the best sandwich/salad you’ve ever eaten, I guarantee you won’t feel guilty eating it. I went with the turkey club wrap and I was told the turkey is roasted in house and the turkey bacon was being cooked as soon as I placed my order. No pre-made orders here, everything was fresh. It was good. I mean, at the end of the day, it was a healthy turkey wrap, deli style. I was happy though and the price was right. They have protein smoothies to go along with their salads, bowls and sandwich creations with a nice little eating section upstairs. Clean, bright with only a few temptations to get into trouble with is always ideal in my book.

This place is literally a minute walk away from me and I couldn’t be happier. Especially since I’m trying to get on that healthier eating grind(blah blah new years resolution I’ll probably break this by the end of the month). But anyway, regardless of my banter, this place is good for all people and I will continue to visit. Atmosphere: Order and find a seat. I often do to go since I live next door and don’t like interacting with people… just kidding(kind of). Food: I’ve been here three times. The first time i got salmon over brown rice with salad. The salmon was cooked wonderfully and the soy/miso flavor was really prominent — it was delicious with the brown rice and salad. The second time I got a burger and a side order of mashed sweet potato. The burger, I’d have to admit, was very boring and bland — not too much flavor and nothing really special. The mashed sweet potatoes, however, were nice and warm and sweet and yummy — and they gave a lot of it. The third time I ordered a small oriental chicken salad. At 350ish calories, this is filling, delicious, and pretty damn flavorful. They give a ton of chicken and the ramen shreds add a small but delightful crisp to an already crunchy salad — this has been my favorite dish yet from here. Anywhere from $ 7-$ 10 is what you’ll pay for a single main food item. Not too shabby, just can’t eat it everyday. Service: Average — some people are nice and others look like they don’t want to be there. Meh.

Better Bites For Reeeeaaal! Hallelujah for Better Bites and healthy eating in Downtown Newark! Better Bites sets the bar high for healthy eating in Newark, let alone healthy eating in the USA! The food is fresh, healthy, delicious and fills ya’ up! What I Love: –A small salad will fill you up and then some! And you can feel good about eating any of their salads. For example, a small Salmon Salad is only 354 calories and contains 40 + g of protein! Better Bites manages to add the perfect amount of dressing to give that baby flavor without making the salad soggy! –The store is clean, pleasing to the eye, cute, well organized and bright inside –The food is fresh and you can definitely tell! –The Smashed Sweet Potatoes are«the bomb»! For only $ 2.49 you get just the right amount in terms of portion size. They are absolutely scrumptious with a side of amazing! –Friendly Staff(but not overly-friendly) who knows what they’re doing! –Turkey Bacon, Brown Rice, Whole Wheat, Bison and low fat Cheese available. –The proteins are cooked well! Not dry, not over/under cooked and seasoned appropriately. –Nutritional Information Provided -$ 10 Minimum for all credit/debit transactions –Unfortunately, truly healthy food is typically more expensive no matter where you go! Based on the taste, flavor and quality of the food, I personally believe that everything on the menu is priced appropriately.

My only peeve with this place is that there’s a $ 15 minimum for delivery. I mean, there are plenty of places around Newark that delivery that don’t require a minimum(ahem, Robert’s Pizzeria, Mi Gente). Other than that the food here is great! Had the salmon wrap and it was delicious! Very filling. The hummus side comes with 5 pita wedges. It’s a bit on the garlic-y side but still very good. The wrap was a little on the pricey side, but you can’t beat the freshness. I will definitely try them again, with another co-worker of course. $ 15 is hard to reach on your own.
