Pastel de Belem in the US in the City of Newark… A small but salavating piece of Lisbon Portugal right in the outskirts of the Iron Bound. Love It hands down!!! Use it for hosting or catering parties!!! Made fresh everyday on premises. Enjoy! Obrigado Sr. Silva um abraso.

Each time I come I find the quality comes down– either in food or in service, or both This time, the lady at the counter decides she is in a bad mood and rolls her eyes at having to put in my sandwich order. And again when I ask for one more sandwich to the small order. Seriously? Is this not what you are here for? To sell food to willing customers? I cannot stand terrible customer service. What’s good? — Their self-serve Brazilian coffee(but they must not trust their customers bc u have to ask for a cup first from behind the counter) What’s not? — their galão. Too weak — gave up trying. — Their portuguese rolls — nowhere near as good as other portuguese bakeries, such as Teixeira’s. Can be good — or not? — Their«famous» pasteis de Belém; No quality control. First time — unbelievably delicious Second time — the chocolate inside was runny and liquid; different lady at the counter said it was fine and that’s just how it comes out sometimes if it is not in the oven long enough… um– that means it is not fine. Third time– bit into a piece of plastic inside the pastel. That was the last time. If I want chocolate in my pastel, i will go to café caffe and get the Nutella pastel– close enough. –Their eggs, sometimes they look like they have been cooked in re-cooked grease from meat with a black«soot» like look. This is definitely not a go to spot — but still preferred over the even worse customer service and quality of the Wilson Deli down the street.
