The only place to get authentic Italian bread in the Newark area. The taste of the bread reminds me of del bono’s in south jersey. This place makes fresh bread throughout the day. They usually sell out of bread quickly but the owner will let you know when the new batch of bread is ready. I’ve also had the apple turnover dessert from here and it was delicious.

With so many bakeries nearby, they’ve got tough competition. That being said, this is the only«italian» bakery I’ve encountered in the area. Their bagels are big, fresh and tasty. The man at the register was very friendly and accommodating. The only downer is that it’s a take out only type of place. There’s maybe one table with chairs, a self serve coffee station and no cream cheese! Nonetheless, this has become my go-to for fresh bagels. Try it out.

I’m new to the area and this is the only place to get great fresh bagels. Not a big fan of Italian desserts(find them too sweet), it’s all about the bagels.

This place is a bit of through back to the older italian heritage of the neighborhood. The bakery has been there for over 100 years, the store front is a small you might drive by if you are not paying attention. But they have great italian style bread, which is hard to come by in the ironbound section of the city. Plus it is one of the few places that have fresh bagels on the weekends. And if you stop by you can get tarradls, they are like italian pretzels in the shape little rings and seasoned with either red pepper flakes, fennel, or garlic. Get a pound of the red pepper tarradis they are great spicy alternative to pretzels.
