This place is a hidden gem on Mt. Prospect on the border of Newark and Belleville. I love coming here around lunch time and there is usually a small crowd, but, no worries– the wait is never long.
The guys working the hot dogs here are fast and friendly. I’ve never gotten a bad attitude from them. They’ll usually engage in casual conversation, especially if you want to talk about sports.
The hot dogs here are real good and in addition to using all beef Frank’s, they have a few great options for toppings. My personal favorites are the homemade hot chili, cheese, and mustard. They’ve also offer homemade sweet chili, hot onions, and sweet onions. They of course have more than this, but I’d be lying if I told you I remembered all of them.
Lou’s is definitely the place to stop in, if you’re in the area.
