Polkadot Cupcake Shop

My 8 y/​o son had been talking about cake pops. He even had me buy a cake pop recipe book. I am no baker. For his 9^th birthday, I wanted to surprise him and our guests with cake pops! I had heard good things about Arlene and so I ordered 3 dozen. Her fiancé, Jeff even dropped them off for me!
They were beautiful and tasted as good as they looked. The red velvet went first… next time more of those for sure.

WOW! I cant really explain it any better than that. I had a gluten free cake made for my birthday a few weeks ago from here, and it was delicious. I didn’t tell anyone it was gluten free, and while most gluten free food I have isn’t great, this tasted like a «real» cake. My friends and family were shocked when I told them. it was perfect!

Arlene made a custom cake for my daughters 1^st birthday and it was perfect. She recreated a cake from an image i sent her online, and it looked like an exact replica. Fondant cakes arent always tasty, but this cake was just as delicious as it was adorable. Her prices are reasonable for custom fondant work, and she even delivered it to my home, leaving one less thing for me to rush and do the morning of the party. I absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a cake/​desserts for an event.

BEYOND amazing!!! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Polkadot Cupcake Shop!!! Last year for my son’s first birthday, I went to ShopRite and ordered a Mickey Mouse cake about two weeks in advance. I go to pick it up the day of his party — and it was just a plain sheet cake with white frosting and hand written blue icing that read «Happy 1^st Birthday» — and they had the nerve to tell me that’s what I ordered and there was nothing that they could do since they only make enough frosting for the orders the day of. I was so upset and disappointed. THIS YEAR, I vowed not to make the same mistake and I got a recommendation from a friend for Polkadot Cupcake Shop. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! My son loves Chuggington and Arlene designed a FABULOUS cake for us based on some images that we had sent to her, and even created miniature 3D trains of the two characters as the cake toppers! MY SON ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! And not to mention, the array of flavors that they offer was just as impressive, and the cake was absolutely DELICIOUS! All the guests loved it! Honestly I did not expect such a delicious tasting cake, I thought it was all about the design but I was very impressed by BOTH and will DEFINITELY be a returning customer! THANK YOU ARLENE for making my son’s birthday extra special! And the level of customer service she provides is SUPERB!!!

I had an awesome experience working with Polkadot Cupcake Shop for my sister-​in-​laws bridal shower. Arlene created custom cookies and a beautiful cake that fit in so well with our décor. The guests raved about how amazing the cake & cookies tasted (not to mention looked). She was beyond accommodating and you can tell how passionate she is about her work. I would highly recommend Polkadot Cupcake Shop if you are looking for cakes, cookies, etc for any occasion. Thank you again!!!

Just had my daughter’s first birthday party, and I ordered multiple treats from Polkadot Cupcake Shop. They were delivered to the restaurant before party time, and was surprised when the waiters brought them out for us. Ordered cake pops, choc covered oreos, choco covered marshmallows, rice crispies, brownies, sammies, ice cream cone canolis. I took so many photos of the treats that by the time I placed my camera down, it was all gone. My guests were like bees on honey. I was so lucky to grab a choco covered oreo before anyone could snatch it. I had so many compliments from family and friends. They had a great time. The treats added to the beautiful arrangements I had prepared. I just want to thank Polkadot Cupcake Shop for making our daughter’s birthday a very memorable one!

I am so glad that I found Arlene to take care my client’s events. She is very responsive and provide ideas and solutions of my concerns. My clients’ visits happened to fall on a day of snow storm. Arlene drove under the crazy weather and delivered the cupcakes on time. She also redelivered the cupcakes in the next day to my another client since their office closed during the snow. I can’t say enough good things about her service and quality of work. I would recommend her to anyone planning high-​end clients’ events.

I wish there was a way to give negative stars. My visit with these guys were terrible. I met them at the Meadowlands Food Truck Mash Up and by the truck, I was beyond excited to give them a try. They still had all flavors available minus one so I thought that was great because everyone else was sold out of everything! I ordered 2 cupcakes and a ice coffee, she have me the total which was about $ 8.75 give or take, I handed her my card and she immediately told me $ 10 is the minimum. Understanding, I explained I didn’t have cash but it’s a $ 1.25 off? Can’t we just swing it? I was told no because the credit card machine will decline anything under $ 10 (I worked with credit card machines before, that’s a lie). But instead of arguing about it, I added another cupcake to my tab that I didn’t want, and now was uped to $ 11 and change. She nicely put the 3 on the counter and said thanks. I then said, this is a little difficult to carry, may I have a small box? She then told me in order to have a box you must buy 4. I screamed, «Are you kidding me?! I just bought and extra cupcake I didn’t want and now I’m supposed to buy more just so I can carry it home properly?! I could understand if it’s the beginning of the event and your not sure how many supplies you’ll been but the events over at 11 and it’s 10:55! Your really not losing much giving a CUSTOMER a box! «. Then she slowly handed me a box as if this were the last box made known to man. And as if that was the worst, I get home and try it and I hated it! It was dry and oddly tasted. They reminded me of cupcakes my sister and I made growing up. They never came out right but Atleast we were doing something. I hated my visit from start to finish. It’s crazy because the truck is so damn cute and I really wanted to like them! Even if the service was better I’d give it another shot but it’s not worth it.

Had these cupcakes at the Meadowlands food truck mash up last night, and was so annoyed by them had to look up the actual shop on Unilocal.These were honestly some bad cupcakes. Cakes were really oily meaning lower quality ingredients are being used. Flavor was bad too. What flavor there was tasted artificial. Strawberry tasted like soap. No idea how a business was built off of these recipes.

Excellent cupcakes! Texture and taste was very good. The cupcake texture is a cross between a cake and a poundcake. It was moist… always a plus…

Arlene knows her cupcakes! As an event planner in NY, I use Polkadot for any event that needs her treats! She did a fabulous job with the St. John’s School of Law, graduation last year… that was A LOT of cupcakes!!! I have not made it to Jersey to see the food truck. but I have only heard great things on Facebook!
My favorite… Irish Car Bomb, made with Bailey’s!

This cupcakes are amazing! Plus they have a make your own option.
The toppings are rich and fluffy and the cake portion itself is moist and delicious. Cannot also say enough nice things about the owner. Always a pleasant attitude and always on social media displaying her work. Way to go.

I love Polkadot Cupcake Shop!!! They have catered multiple parties for me, my family and many of my friends and they are ALWAYS a big hit with our guests. We have ordered a variety of cupcakes as well as pull-​apart cakes and they are always beautiful and delicious! My current favorite flavors are the Strawberries & Champagne, White Chocolate Razz and Peanut Butter Dream. I say current because they are always adding new flavors and I keep discovering new favorites :)

We at NYCupcake Guide are HUGE fans of Polkadot Cupcake Shop! We had the privilege to first try the cupcakes at a Cupcake Takes the Cake meetup, and we were impressed with many of their flavors, namely the Strawberries & Champagne, Cookies n Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Cookie Dough.
