I found a hair in my plate!!! so I told the waiter and he and the manager didn’t do anything! Even without saying sorry! That was so disgusting and I will never come back to this place again.

FOODVIRUS: I’ve been meaning to write a review on this buffet. I came here a couple months ago with my boyfriend. He ate a lot of sushi. I didn’t eat it because I don’t like it. So, after a few hours of eating here my boyfriend starts to vomit so much. He ends up vomiting for about a week! He was vomiting black vomit! It was horrible he had to go to the hospital twice. He lost 10 pounds in one week. I insisted that he sue but he didn’t. I’m so disappointed in this buffet. I won’t be coming back here ever. He’s definitely done with sushi now.

The service performs very poor concern with customers. My daughter reserves for a Baptism reception and when we get there they said somebody called and move it to different time in fact nobody called it’s so disgusting on our part and to our guests. We end up proceeding to another place, luckily World Gourmet restaurant is accommodating and we are able have a private place. I would never recommend to friends and family this Newark buffet place, especially when you are throwing a party. Never ever. They cancel your reservation without notification. That is terrible and embarrassing moment in our part. No star zero as in 0.

Dude I got food poisoning from the oysters and was on the toilet for more than an hour! I used to come here when I was in high school and it was mediocre but I didn’t like it at all today lol The sashimi was either hella dry or hella mushy. It looks like it’s been sitting out for a while and the mussels were very hard to chew. The soups were also slimy. I wouldn’t come back I was un-satisfyingly full):

The food is okay. Better than other Asian buffets here in the East Bay. However, I’m sitting here eating and I literally see a small cockroach on the table. Will see what the staff has to say when I show them. I killed it in a napkin.

Surprisingly good buffet with good quality, good rotation. Service, of course is typical of Chinese buffet. No refills on water, and the plate removal was slower than I would’ve preferred. The Mongolian grill was good, sushi selection was okay.

This is a cheap buffet. You get what you pay for. The food is pretty meh, but there’s a lot of it. Some even tastes good. However, this is not a review of the food, but of the cleanliness and the management. I’ve been here a few times before, so I know this is not a five star restaurant. But during my lunch today, I experienced something that made me decide to never return. I got a bowl from their stack of clean dishes, but it had gunk on it. Whatever, I thought… shit happens. I held onto the bowl so I could bring it back to my table and give it to a server. I got another bowl, but this one was worse then the last one! It had dried sauce caking the inside. It was noticeably splotched with brown on a white(ish) bowl. I tried talking to the employee behind the counter about it, and he handed me a paper towel as if me cleaning the dishes is the solution. Another employee, who was on his lunch break getting food, jumped into our conversation to tell me the bowl is clean(it wasn’t). I left those two guys to find a waiter and complain. He agreed that the bowl was dirty, and he took it to the manager. I followed. The manager told me it’s not their fault because a machine washes the dishes. Uh… excuse me? You pay employees to collect the«washed» dishes and put them out for your paying customers. Do a spot check, genius. You’re supposed to be a professional establishment. Act like it. The manager offered me a discount. I told her this is disgusting, I don’t want to finish my meal, and I refuse to pay for the questionable food I’ve consumed. She refused. I asked to see the bowl again. She handed it to me, and I took a picture of it with my phone. It’s kind of blurry because the manager literally reached around my body and snatched it out of my hands. But I got it! You can see the splotchy brown around the inside of the bowl. They let us leave without paying because I started making a scene. Hopefully the city will call them out on their filth. tl;dr: The management admits their automated dishwasher sucks and still wants you to pay after discovering you ate off dirty dishes.

Solid selection of classic Chinese buffet food at the bargain price of $ 10 weekday lunches. This would get you one bottle of fresh juice in SF, or two cups of large milk tea with toppings. Despite how non-foodie-oriented everything is, you can imagine my excitement over this buffet. The highlights: — Seafood dynamite & cheesy mussels: My favorite — Cream cheese wonton: I ate two of these because my parents weren’t there to get annoyed at me for not eating more expensive food at buffets: D — Siu mai: I suspect it’s house made because they kind of all stick to each other and fall apart.(Premade ones tend to be very perfect) — Sushi: Not the best quality fish but decent, especially for the price Pass: — «Stuffed mushroom things»: Entertaining name, but confusing flavors. I couldn’t tell what it was stuffed with — Fried chicken wings: Nothing special; there is a better use of your calories here — Pizza and garlic bread: Not that I ate this, but I just find it entertaining No dessert for me because I had a chestnut praline latte from Starbucks that morning and it tasted like diabetes. The cream puffs here looked good though. Essentially, they have all the things I loved at the fancy sushi buffets as I grew up!

We seriously may never come here again after last night’s incident. We were a party of 8 and paid cash(plus tip) at the end of the meal. Most of us were outside by now, but one adult in our group was caught by the waitress to say«you didn’t pay enough». However, we paid more than enough. Our bill was $ 117. and we left $ 129. If you come here, make sure the server counts your cash in front of you. We were a party of 8(4 families) and it’s too bad they will lose our business despite that their food is actually very good, but I don’t like their poor customer service with the accusation that we didn’t pay enough.

I’ve been to Newark Buffet maybe 3 or 4 times in the past. My family would come when we wanted to gorge ourselves with snow crab legs and cheap sushi. The food has always been just okay, nothing fancy, no frills, and pretty much what you expect from an average Asian Buffet. After a long hiatus, we decided to come back sometime in late November 2015. We arrived at about 5pm on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. I was excited to make my way to the crab station in the back, and was totally disappointed to find tiny snow crab legs. These legs were a lot smaller than what you’d find at comparable buffets like Mizuumi(don’t go here — check out my review about this place) and Kokyo in Hayward. If you’re experienced in breaking crab legs, you can at least appreciate that the legs had a decent snap to them, but the size and lack of flavor were just too boring. I was hoping that a random, inferior batch of crab legs had been put out, and that I would be rewarded with plump, meaty legs when the next batch was put out. After waiting patiently, I returned to the crab area only to be filled with disappointment. The next batch of crab legs were just as dainty as the previous batch. Still hungry, I made my way over to the sushi area. This is where Newark Buffet excels over Mizuumi(seriously, don’t go there) and Koyko. The selection here is just plain better than the other two buffets mentioned. Rolls contained actual raw fish inside, instead of imitation crab you find everywhere else, and they were serving tuna and salmon nigiri. While the fish is standard buffet quality, it’s refreshing to see a buffet offer nigari(ahem, Mizuumi). My wife enjoyed the fried salt+pepper shrimp, and we pretty much did not eat much of anything else. Why waste the calories on boring Asian buffet desserts of mass produced sheet cake, bulk fruit, and Jello when there is an 85 Café just steps away? Regardless of our experience, this place was very packed nonetheless. There were several groups waiting at the entrance, and it certainly looks like Newark buffet does not have any shortage of patrons. I don’t see myself coming here again anytime soon unless something significant changes. The next time I have a craving for snow crab legs, I’ll go to Kokyo, even though I despise downtown Hayward and it’s nightmare parking.

Just when I thought this buffet never changes and all the items taste and remain the same, I came in the other day and was not really impressed. It seems like they removed a few items from their lunch arsenal. The quality is still pretty decent for a buffet. The staff are extremly rude especially this one guy in particular. I was waiting for my son to arrive and I asked if I could use the restroom. The one guy first said no, until I balked. Browsing the reviews I have noticed that there have been a few complaints about the kid!

Where should I begin! Boy oh boy! So my brother and I have been in search of an all you can eat buffet which offers a Mongolian BBQ. The place we use to visit in Livermore, CA unfortunately closed for good. My brother and I are not to picky, as long as the place is clean and the food is semi fresh we are more then happy to dine in! We turned to Unilocal and found this place called«NEWARKBUFFET». Which was rated 3 stars out of 5, the same as our old buffet we loved. So what the heck they offer Mongolian BBQ and we are in the neighborhood. We walk in and are seated quickly. The place is busy so they have something going for them. I walk around and get some steamed white rice, beef & broccoli, and a plate of fruit! My brother turns immediately to the Mongolian BBQ. We sit down have our drinks everything seems pretty good until I here my brother shout«YOUHAVEGOTTOBEKIDDINGMEDUDE» Turns out the chef had cooked flies YESFLIES! In my brothers BBQ. Immediately did not want to eat and flagged down a waitress! Now I’m in the food industry and If something like this would happen in my restaurant I would be all over it! I would accommodate that table as quickly and discreetly as possible! But no, we waited another ten minutes. Showed the staff and he offered us 10% off the meal! Here’s another kicker! It was lunch time. They offer a $ 9.99 lunch deal. Yet after he discounted his amazing 10% after cooking bugs in our food our bill was $ 29.99 with drinks??? Anywho I will never return! I would never recommend! I hope this place closes if that’s how they like to do business. Maybe it doesn’t happen all the time but it sure happened that day!

Was actually really surprised I liked their food here. I should note I only ate the sushi and sashimi. The ika was not good and the fresh oysters caused me to have major stomach aches.(That is common for me to have stomach aches with fresh oysters because I should be eating them cooked instead). I would come here again. :) other notes: I ate dinner here. I’ve never had the lunch.

I come here every time I’m in the area with my aunt. For a buffet, the food here is pretty damn tasty. They offer a nice selection. The servers and desk staff are nice and mannered. It is a very nice place to dine dinner or lunch.

This is my regular go-to buffet since their grand opening many years ago. But the quality is only about 20% compare to how it used to be. Lunch do not have crawfish anymore. They lack staff in almost all the area. They do not refill the sushi regularly and when I told 1 of the staff that«why no one is in the sushi area» and«why they don’t refill the nigiri». All I got were«because they are on lunch» and«not many people eat them». Well, if you don’t make then how can other people eat them? And if your staff is on lunch, you should find someone to replace. The place is still very filled, more than 50 people are still dining and the lack of staff making the food is unjust. I will think twice about coming here from now.

I never know why this place is always packed with the line out the door! Wait is about 20mins. The drinks come pretty fast & out to the buffet! There is a good selection of food… But the quality is alright. They also always bring out a limited amount of each food item even though they know it would gone in an instant! It also takes a while to refill the station. The service is just ohkay. The servers would forget to bring out our drink refill. Also, the utensils aren’t clean. I opted to use chopsticks. The only food item I enjoyed was the taro steamed bun. Mmmm

So first time I went here, I got food poisoning and that was because I was dumb enough to try out the fresh oysters. So the second time I came here, I made sure to avoid it at all costs. This time we came with a large group as we came from a mass. We reserved an area to hold 80 people at 3:30pm and they were not ready for us. We had to wait until the folks cleared out. The servers were stealthy but at the same time felt like they were hovering in hopes we leave so they could seat more people. So this time, we also came during the lunch to dinner transition. I was able to get chunks of sashimi… yes CHUNKS not slices as they didn’t slice them just more like raw poke style but ginormous. The teriyaki chicken was liked by the bf and we both liked the grilled octopus though it was VERY limited when we got it and it was never seen again. They did have kalbi but they weren’t cooked very well and everything was quite oily. Although there is a variety of food, it wasn’t all too satisfying. The quality was meh and part of me wished we had a Fuji Buffet as all you can eat sashimi and kalbi are to die for.

Ehh, just your typical Chinese buffet restaurant… nothing too special, however I will say the food here is decent… you don’t really get that«day old taste in your mouth when you eat their food»…at least that’s what I think… I was just here over the weekend with family for my graduation dinner. It’s 16.99 for dinner per person, but we had 10% off coupon, so we that saved us some money… Staff is pretty attentive… crazy busy on the weekends… so make reservations if you need to…

Came here for a party/celebration recently on March 21. I’ll admit I was a little hesitant about this place after reading reviews before coming here but after eating here it was ok. Comparing this place to other buffets I’ve been to, they’re pretty much all the same. However, some of the food here wasn’t as good as what I’ve had at other comparable buffets. At one point I did ask the server for our group if I could have some Tabasco and he went to the front desk and gave me a new bottle. He could have given me one off another table somewhere but he went out of his way to give me a fresh bottle, which was a plus to me. Just a little side note, lately a lot of restaurants and places that serve food around the bay area have been posting pass/conditional pass/no pass notices in the front of their store. This establishment had a yellow conditional pass posted. Not sure when it changed from the green pass I saw on one of the pictures here on Unilocal.I should have taken a picture of it now that I think about it now. Hopefully they change whatever it is to go back to pass status.

Yo bro they got honey walnut prawns here!!! I came here an boom right when I came in the door I saw this beautiful smile and this women at the podium welcome I was blown away like wow . Then I noticed this place is all about the holiday spirit. They were setting up Christmas stuff even with all the other work They had to do. The employees seem to like working here, great customer service and they are even nice to each other. The salad is good especially the mixed ones, bread puddings hella good, the apple cobblers hella good an so’s the roast beef. The carvery girl was hella cool about cutting my meat too. They had some other meat I forgot what it was called it was really good tho. It looked like hamburger but much tastier. Alot of things at the buffet are labeled what they aren’t. I guess that could be better but this places greatness makes you not wanna complain. Its hard to rate a buffet but when something touches your soul as great as this one did I knew I had to keep this in my memory to rate it cuz nothing made me hate it even by the smallest percent. I loved the baked fish pasta, the pizza was even good here, oooh ha an that mac n cheese bro, yeeeeah. The coffee is okay, they have slurpees too tho. They also have a little game area which is pretty cool. They have a buncha claw grabber games. I loved the cleanliness, bathrooms, food area, the seating areas, every part is clean an I understand how hard that can be for a buffet also. I am giving this place no credit for that either I mean this place was just totally clean in general, awesome job. Holy MOly batman they even have a payphone here, who has those these days. I guess this place has it all, this place is soo amazing. I’ll be back I hope this reaches the management so they know how great of a team they have working there.
