The Springfield Branch is the community library for this section of Newark in the Central Ward. It’s in between the areas of Springfield/Belmont and University Heights. It’s towards the corner of 14th and Hayes(across from New Horizon Charter School). Like the other NPL branches, it serves the needs of the immediate community and provides library resources for adults and children. Perhaps due to its close proximity to so many schools and University Heights, there’s an emphasis on college prep services for Newark high school students. It offers free SAT prep classes for them and has other standardized testing resources. The branch has computers for Internet browsing, basic word processing, and accessing the library’s electronic resources, as well as books and video collections. Newark Public Library is a wonderful library. Its branches are essential in supporting the NPL’s noteworthy vision and mission. For that, I give the branches 4-stars for the work that its employees and volunteers do to enrich the lives of the people in the community.
