What a great place! This was our first time and the food was delicious. I had the New England Reuben and I recommend it. All of the staff we encountered(host, manager, servers) were so friendly and knowledgeable. Our server was Elizabeth and she was top notch. We will be back.

We always get good food, great service here! We’ve tried appetizers, burgers, quesadillas, all good! There is a bar, but there’s also areas away from the bar area, so I would consider it a place to take the family.

The«new» manager Michelle is a «peach» to deal with… Her ridiculously condescending response to a simple question about the availability of a table setup what I thought was going to be a total failure. Good thing our server and the cooks came through with friendly quality service to save our experience. Hoping the old bag straightens her attitude out.

This place is OK. It’s a fancy bar with food. The food is pricey and some of it is very bland. The best thing on the menu is the fish and chips. We have gone for the all you can eat shrimp for $ 13.99 and after your first basket, you are brought out two shrimp at a time. We didn’t receive any more cocktail sauce or lemons. I liked the French onion soup. It’s OK to go for lunch and get the soup and sandwich combo.

We always ate at the one in Delaware when we lived there. It was great. Then, when we moved it was really out of the way. Now with the recent opening of the Newark location, we can enjoy one of our favorite spots again. Be careful of the floor though, its VERY slick and we have seen staff and visitors slide. Hard to sit outside due to the smokers. Other then that, really good!

Been there 4 times the food is slightly ok at best. Chowder soup was very pasty. Onion soup was way to salty. Hamburgers are good but who can’t make a good hamburger. Service is horrible and very slow even late with only a few customers. Not once in 4 visits have I been offered a drink refill, have to flag down server if you want a refill and good luck with that. Twice we were not given all the food we asked for. Took 15 minutes to get some steak sauce for my burger. Once the server completely forgot we were there, while we waited 30 minutes for our bill she came out of the back carrying a broom and dust pan, when she saw us she took off for the back to get our bill and carryout box we had already asked for.

I’m not sure as to why this place has only rated a two and a half stars rating… This is my second time here, and I can’t get past the Alaskan Salmon and vegetable skewer meal… Not to mention, great service and great environment. I give it a four, only because it’s my second time here and I’m waiting for room to see if it’s the real thing. So far my infatuation with this place is making its way up there charts…

We have eaten here on several occasions and the food has always been excellent! All 3 of us had different meals and the meals were really delicious! Definitely 5 stars!

To start I have gone to several OBoN’s and had loved them all. Being from Newark and knowing the building they moved into plus the reviews I read a I was extremely nervous. We got there. The wait was 15 minutes for 2 and a baby. Everyone was courteous. Once we sat everything was amazing. They had Guinness which is hard to get in this area on draft. We had the sauerkraut balls, fried pickles and wings.(Buffalo flavor, which were to hot for me, but perfect flavor.) I have been going to OBoN for about 12 years now and I am glad to say that they lived up to my expectations. The real perk to this place is the happy hour, although not as good as it used to be, 2 dollars off is still good. And for 3 huge appetizers and 2 Guinness for right around $ 25. This place mad my fat butt happy.

Our visit started with a 30 minute wait to be seated(table for 2). Of course we ordered a couple adult bevs and some chicken nachos, because who doesn’t love nachos? The nachos came out really cold, the cheese had a film on it because it had been sitting out(gross, man). We ordered a burger & clam chowder for him and crab cake sammie for me. Just kidding! The Ol’ Bag was out of chowder… on to the soup of the day! Soup was served kinda cold, like nuked in the microwave but the middle doesn’t get heated up, cold. Yuck. My crab cake sandwich had a bone in it and was unfortunately mostly bread crumbs I presume. All of this was to the tune of $ 65 dollars. Drat. Side note, we sat by an entrance to the kitchen. We got to see waitresses fill drinking glasses with ice, soda, tea, water… my favorite part was when one of waitresses picked her nose, then picked up some ice with her bare hand for a guests glass, WITH the same nose pickin’ hand. Thank goodness we had draft beer or beer in a bottle. Whew!

Great atmosphere & a ton of food for the money. The classic signature item-fish & chips are wonderful! The onion rings are huge & very tasty. I have had the chicken cobb salad a few times & it is always fabulous. I was skeptical about the marinated pink onions but they actually give the salad a unique flavor. My bf had the philly cheesesteak & steakfries & cleaned his plate. The fried mushrooms are plentiful but lacking in taste.

Frequent customer of franchise, first time at this location, which has seemed doomed ever since Casa Lupita left its curse… Gluten free menu arrived crumpled up. No crayons for the kids. Server did offer us some of her extra pens, but we had it covered.. . Server not knowledgeable about gluten free and tried to answer questions with a guess rather than finding the answer. Appreciate her wanting to be helpful on the spot, but when you have food allergies, you NEEDTOKNOWTHEANSWER. Seven in party, 6 orders came out, took another 10 to get my aunts food after flagging someone down to ask. The kids meals«with no bun» for gluten free, both had buns. The fries on another order that were requested to be «anything but steak fries,» were steak fries. The«fried corn» is those frozen pieces of corn cob you can buy in the grocery store, browned in a pan. The broccoli had brown spots inside. The salmon was«medium rare» which I’d probably be okay with, if it had been good. Very fishy and not fresh. The manager passed our table several times, but never stopped. His face had that grumpy look from the«frequent-pub-goer» guy they use on their signs and menus. Kind of like Max from Max & Erma’s, but instead this guy hated his job and was probably thrilled his name wasn’t on the sign. The wait staff all seemed overall disgruntled or embarrassed. For the $ we spent(was not cheap), we could have had 10x better salmon at the Buxton Inn for only a few dollars more. And everyone is happy there! Even the ghosts!

Tried to make a visit and enjoy good food and drinks. Walked into a wait of 30+ minutes for 4 peeps and half an empty restaurant. Decided to go to an empty bar and eat to be turned away because we had kids(10 and 16). Back towards the line we went when a staffer grabbed us and said please sit at this high top. I thought great until after 1 minute sitting we were told to return to the front and sign in. We decided to walk, right out the door and go down the street for some good wings and treatment at Rooster’s. Probably be awhile before returning to Old Bag Of Nails unless o see some more positive reviews. The way it’s looking it will be a long wait. Gary

Not impressed with my first time at this restaurant. Not only was the«table police» rude to us for sitting near bar at an unmarked table that is apparently reserved, their tone to us to move was rude and unnecessary. No one ever sat at that table the rest of the evening. Then once we were seated it took 30 mins to receive our appetizer and still no silverware. We had to ask multiple times to get drinks and silverware and where app was. I understand they’ve only been open for 3 weeks but they also have been open for 3 weeks and should be well adapted to what needs changed. The fish was not the same as the Gahanna location and the service was beyond slow. NOTIMPRESSED.

We were excited to hear that Old Bag of Nails was opening in the Newark area due to the limited choices that are available. We tried the restaurant out on 8−12−15. When we were seated at our table we noticed that the table was not only uneven but that the top was so loose that it spun from side to side. The booth was set too far apart causing us to sit on the edge of our seats which was uncomfortable. We ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer which came out very quickly. We thought that they were decent but nothing to write home about. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and my wife ordered the Pride of the Pub spinach salad. Our son and one daughter ordered the corn dogs and our other daughter ordered the cheeseburger, all off of the kids menu. The crab cake sandwich was horrible. I pulled the patty apart to try and locate any«crab,» but all that I found was breading. The fries that accompanied the sandwich were greasy and had no flavor. I took two bites of the sandwich and tried one of the French fries, and that was enough for me. My wife said that she enjoyed her salad. There was enough spinach on her plate when she was finished to make a second salad. The kids meals were all greasy and went unfinished, but then again that is to be expected. We were also bothered by a family of flies during our visit. I don’t know if this is normal for this restaurant or if it was just our lucky day. Our w

Food is good SERVICEISTERRIBLE. 2nd time here in 2 days. Food is very good. But they can not get their act together. Took forever to order and get food. They ran out of the side we ordered but brought the food anyway then told us to order another side. Waited quite a while for the new sides. Waitress was a spaz. Not knowledgable. Food for other tables kept being brought to our table, they had no idea what table food was supposed to be go to. Smokers hang out on back patio so if you are out there expect smoke with your meal. No one seemed to know what they were doing. Horrible experience.

The only reason this isn’t 1 star is because the manager gave us 25% off after we complained. We live really close and so we were excited about this, but we could not be more disappointed. We literally waited 40 minutes for our appetizer. The waiter told us it was because the staff was so inexperienced. But come on, really? 40 minutes for an appetizer?! That being said, they do have a nice draft choice and the décor looks lovely. This place has great potential and so we will give it another chance in a month when *hopefully* the staff will be more experienced. But for now, yikes. Hopefully they can get it together!
