I like Red Bowl. We started going here after burning out on No. 1 Chinese in the Newark Shopping Center. There food is good, but not great. There is no item on the menu that just pops out and says ‘EATME’, or compels us to go back for more. In all honesty, I haven’t tried their higher end menu items, so maybe the braised meats are the ‘wow’ items I’m looking for. The fried rice is good, but doesn’t knock your socks off. I still cannot find a decent fried rice in this town. Next stop Chef Tan. The General Tso’s chicken is good, the beef with broccoli is ordinary, and I can’t recommend the Spicy Tasty Chicken, which was more like a wet sloppy mess of food. The chicken on a stick are good and popular with our kids, the lo mein is tasty, and the hot and sour soup is better than most I’ve had. The food is generally fresh and cooked well. They aren’t the fastest for carryout, so if you order online and they say 20 minutes, don’t bother going any earlier than that. But they aren’t super slow either. If you’re eating in, it is pleasant enough, and lunch service is acceptably fast. It is nicely decorated, a little dark and intimate, and there is Chinese television always playing, which can be pretty amusing(Chinese telenovelas and game shows… true story). Parking is a pain at that plaza there, especially when school is in session, so you might have to park a block or two away. All in all, better than average.

Authentic & tasty Asian food, at its best. Not the typical bland chinese food you get in other places. Fast service. Indian Pan cake is tasty but oily. Chicken & Shrimp fried rice top notch., as well Spicy Schezuan chicken, a real treat.

Authentic Chinese food in a perfect location. You can have Sweet and sour chicken there which is quiet good. They have all day special menu which the price is quite reasonable for a lunch or dinner. They also have extremely tasty soup like Lisha Chicken/beef soup, wonton soup.

Ordered sesame chicken and honey chicken and got two ordersof sesame chicken one without seeds. Icomplained that it was not honey chicken he said thats the way its made. After explaing the difference he told me to shut up and hung the phone up on me and thats the way the owner operates this business.

Restaurant was playing Chinese pop songs and Chinese TV Programs. It’s a very nice place to eat in if you’re from China. Food is good and price is even.

Okay, Full disclosure– I am chinese New Yorker on a business trip here, so maybe I am not the right person to give a review on a chinese restaurant in Delaware. But this place is terrible. First, the Service was not good. The two of us were directed to a small table for two, we wanted to sit at the bigger table for 4, so we won’t feel so cramped and because there were 5 tables that were empty. She said no, she will need all 5 of them in case people came in. Sure, we didn’t want to get her in trouble when the place becomes pack with pretend customers. Then there is the food. We had the wonton soup, chicken Lasha noodle soup and the rice cake shanghainese style. Wonton soup tasted like water with some salt and msg. Lasha chicken noodle soup was a bad attempt at a Curry based soup. Rice cake was horrible, definitely not shanghainese style or even close to it. The rice cake was obviously boiled first and too chewy and the sauce was, hmmm, was like eating something a 3 year old would cook.

This place is very good! I highly recommend anything with their curry sauce, the honey chicken, steamed/fried dumplings, and wonton soup. The staff there is very friendly and always greet you with a smile. Even when it has been crowded the food was still amazing and we were served quickly. One very important detail is that it is very clean!

I visitedRed Bowl for the braised beef soup to compare to Yi Palace on Elkton Road. There was no comparison. The soup was good, but it was like comparing a fast food burger to a pub burger. The service was very friendly & I would definitely try something again, but for now this is 3 stars.

To me, Red Bowl is the restaurant to add to your Chipotle/Jimmy Johns/Bahn Mi rotation if you’re on main street looking for cheap, decent, fast food regularly. If someone suggests going there over any similarly priced places, I feel totally indifferent. My sentiment relative to Chipotle et al. probably arises from having been to Red Bowl a number of times while never finding an item that stands out as super delicious/I want it every time. On the other hand, I’ve never disliked anything either. If I rank Red Bowl among other chinese/japanese/fushion places in the area, I put it above No. 1 and Mizu, on par with Pinang, and below Mayflower(and Yi Palace’s spicy dry chicken lunch special).

This place is really good, I mean really! the food is very tasty and very reasonably priced for both the quality and quantity. if you buy lunch you can eat it for dinner too. In-spite of being cheap they have good quality which is really surprising! I wish they served brown rice :( Wish they had bubble tea too, I would not have to go to the shop next door for that. :D

I always order from redbowl, never had problems. Food is good, and they serve a big amount for a low price. Worthy the money you pay.

This is hands down the best Chinese food in Newark followed by new no 1 and no 1. Their specials are great portions. Clean interior. Good and reliable.

We came to this restaurant at 10pm on Sat. But the service is very BAD! It said it would open until 11pm. If they cannot offer good service very late at night, they should close earlier.

Wah just came in today(3⁄19) with a friend and I’m a little disappointed! Both our orders were wrong. This was the first time they messed up my order and the second time for my friend within a week. I noticed we’ve had the same waiter, a younger Chinese guy(not the Chinese ladies or white guys) so I wonder if he wrote them down wrong? He repeated our orders correctly though so maybe it’s a kitchen problem too. Who knows! I mean the food was still good but it wasn’t what we asked for :(

The place is clean and smells good. I got the general tso chicken special with fried rice. That was good. No complaints. The spring rolls, however, that they call egg rolls, are to expensive for their size. They are too tiny to be near the same price as a regular egg roll.

Finally tried The Red Bowl about 2 weeks ago AMD have eaten here 3 times already. So far the Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup, Fried Dumplings, and wings are solid! This is now a regular place for me.

You really get a bang for your buck at Red Bowl. This place is ideal if you are really hungry but don’t want to spend a lot of money, and don’t want to sacrifice quality. I recommend the roasted duck noodle soup. They don’t skimp on ingredients, that’s for sure! It came with tons of duck meat, thin egg noodles, scallions, cilantro, and some type of green(bok choy perhaps?), and the broth was full of flavor. I sampled my boyfriend’s kung pao shrimp and that was really good too!

Best Chinese/Asian food on Main Street! I have yet to order something I didn’t like, and the online ordering system(where you can pay with your credit card) is incredibly convenient. Friendly service, yummy food, great portion sizes, fair prices.
