This is a true gem for satisfying grab-n-go meals. I agree with Jnet L. 5 stars! I have been going there since winter to get croissants, sandwiches and salads. I return because it was convenient when I worked nearby and accessible to businesses in downtown Newark. It is small and quaint but they make up for it in things like ambiance, customer service and tasty goods. The baked goods come in from Balthazar; and I have to say the croissants are ridiculously good. The apple galatte is scrumptious with golden brown perfectly spiced tangy sweet apples cradled in the most delicious, light, crispy and flaky crust. Sandwiches are packaged in clear containers and are labeled. Condiments that compliment the sandwiches are in separate containers. I had the roast beef which was dressed with a nice amount of fresh spring greens. It came with horseradish sauce which gave it a nice bite. I have had the salads and they are also good. I have to return to try the soups; which were usually not ready when I arrive in the morning. I’ve also had their delicious green and jasmine teas with my croissants. This place really helps me appreciate a busy day. I have to get more pics. Btw, although they take credit cards; there have been times when their register is down and you have to pay in cash. Other than overpriced bottled beverages, the other items are reasonably priced below $ 10. Not bad for a hotel located downtown and close to main attractions.

Finally got a chance to pop into The Workshop to grab lunch today. The café is inside the Hotel Indigo lobby. You may have passed by it walking down Broad Street near the Prudential Center. I’ve passed by the chalkboard A-frame sign outside the hotel entrance many times and have wanted to check it out for a while. When you step through the automated doors, it’s directly to your right. There are sandwiches and salads, muffins, drinks, and snacks. There was a good selection of easy-to-grab lunch options — I saw a Greek salad, Red Quinoa salad, Goat Cheese salad(which gets two thumbs up from me), Tomato & Mozzarella Cheese sandwich on french bread, a turkey sandwich, etc. I was grabbing lunch for me and my vegetarian boyfriend, so it was nice to see so many veggie options in the cooler display case. Cold drinks available were 20oz Coke, Diet Coke, Honest Abe Iced Tea, and Minute Maid OJ. The lady behind the counter was pleasant and the hotel lobby is very cute. Overall, it’s a nice place to go and quickly pick up a simple lunch. If you are staying in the hotel, it’s open 24⁄7. However, even if you aren’t necessarily staying at the hotel, it’s a pretty cool spot to check out and grab a bite if you are hungry.
