My company ordered catering from Tony’s bistro. I had some sausage, broccoli pasta with Alfredo and some fried chicken. I got sick 10 min after I finish my food and had to run to the bathroom. I felt there were a butterfly in my stomach.

Been here a few times and the food taste has gone down. Folks here are very polite but to be honest we come for the food. Last time I was in(yesterday) I had the lasagna and was not cooked all the way and still pink in the middle. The other items we bland. It seems that they’re trying to cut corners to save some money but in the end I believe it is hurting the restaurant. I will not be visiting again after 3 times that’s enough I learned my lesson.

This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch, especially because of their $ 4 lunch special and garlic knots! They also have some of the best cannolis I’ve ever gotten. The only reason I gave four stars is because the staff can be really brusque to put it nicely. As long as your are okay with angry Italian men barking orders at you then you will be fine with this place. lol

This will be shorter than most of my reviews, because we have only hit the Bistro once., and that was only for pizza. We love the original Tony’s Café, a tiny place with no parking on Paper Mill Road north of Newark. We were excited to hear that they had opened a satellite location south of the city of Newark, so one afternoon after a busy Saturday, son and I hit them for slices of pizza. My one complaint is that the crappy dollar store paper plates can not possibly hold the huge slices of authentic New York style thin crust pizza. We tried several combinations, including white pizza. We’re they any good? Thirty minutes later we were heading home with the whole pie we decided to get for dinner. Does that answer the question? Next time we try the tomato pie. It’s amazing at the Café and we hope the Bistro’s is just as good.

First, level set your expectations. This is NOT fine dining and does not pretend to be. Expect solid if uninspired flavours and MONUMENTAL portions. Execution is, frankly, flawless. Pasta are perfectly al dente, parmesean crust is crisp and toothsome even after baking(no small feat) and breads are heavy and rich just as you should expect. On the other hand, sauces are watery and lack any real flavour. Come to think about it, that also perfectly describes the ambiance. The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. The prices are crazy cheap for the portions, and they don’t stint on any element of the dish. They do, however, use paper plates for the breads and pre-packaged salad dressing in sad little foil pouches. If ever there was a textbook two-and-a-half star place, this is it.

Good pizza and great bread! Good spot to stop and have a bite, but very difficult to find.

Our trip to Virginia, we Unilocaled and found this local establishment for a quick lunch. The exterior and being located in the strip mall caused me to think twice. But we went in. The décor was a pleasant italian restaurant environment. The staff behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming. You order at the counter and we found a booth. The food came out promptly. My wife and I shared a chicken salad while the kids had spaghetti with meatballs and spaghetti in garlic oil. The spaghetti dishes came with salads as well. All the entrée were good portion and overall good. As mentioned in other reviews, it feels like a family-run business so the service was very good. If I stop the way again, would love to try their large assortment of pizzas. They looked good. Real good!

Great Italian place! Best we have had so far! Huge portions. Boyfriend had Italian sub which was enough for two meals, and I had lobster ravioli. Very filling. They give you bread if you eat there. It seems to be family run. There was thick accented Italian woman behind the counter which sealed the deal as there was no question of authenticity! A++ Looking forward to trying the pizza in the near future!

Bring your appetite! Tony’s food is excellent with large portions. I go there for their Chicken Marsala. My wife loves the lobster ravioli. The tomato pie is one of the best around. Staff is always pleasant and eager to serve.

Best pizza we’ve had in Newark. Always a friendly staff and smiling faces when we come in. My husband is from NY and is very picky with pizza so I’m constantly on the search when we move place to place and I’m so glad i found this spot! Even if we have to drive the 20 minutes to pick it up, we won’t go anywhere else.
