I live in South Florida and was craving some Peruvian food when I was in New York. I found this place and drove about 45 minutes because the reviews sounded good. I was so disappointed. The prices were way too high and the food lacked the flavor that I am used to. The ambiance and decorations were pretty sweet though.

We were shopping at the Woodbury Commons Outlets, and decided to grab dinner away from the touristy areas. Unilocal led us to downtown Newburgh, with plenty of great options. We briefly debated between the Mexican restaurant and Peruvian restaurant, and in the end, went with Peruvian. The dinner start to finish took a bit longer than we expected. The kitchen was fairly busy because of some larger groups that placed their orders before us. I frequent Peruvian restaurants on a regular basis, and was excited to see entrées on the menu that I had not seen elsewhere. We went with the Carapulcra and Cabrito a la Norteña. Both were unique and delicious. The only thing I missed in the restaurant is the crunchy corn, which I prefer over the bread which they had brought.

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience from the patience of the staff to answer all our questions about the menu selections to surprisingly having us sample 2 of our wine choices we were deciding between The dinners were delicious. The atmosphere inviting and comfortable… I don’t have the time to elaborate… I would have given 5 stars but for no fault of MachuPichu, it was disturbing to be approached by people asking for money. I am very sad for the people and I said prayers for them. Definitely check the place out because I think for the general area to improve and the people to get help MachuPichu and area establishment need to flourish.

My 1st time eating Peruvian food and it was DELICIOUS!!! I absolutely loved it. All the different flavors and tastes in my mouth was amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would definitely go here again. I need to experience more of their menu before I can give it a full 5 stars.

Overpriced and food quality is not consistent. I normally order fried rice with chicken and a tamale. At times the food is awesome at times you can taste how long it was sitting there… likely not returning.

My experience at this restaurant can only be described as heavenly! A friend picked out this restaurant for her birthday because she’s very familiar with the cuisine. From the appetizer to dessert my meal was amazing! I’m sorry I didn’t take pictures. The Carapulcro authentic main course was full of spices and tastes that had me craving the dish days later. You have to order the dish with their green rice it will blow your mind because it’s insanely delicious! The shrimp appetizer Ceviche Mixto con Pulpo had my mouth gasiming! Tres Leche dessert looked too good to pass up — so I didn’t. I rolled out of there(literally cause I never eat that much) on a cloud and sang it’s praises all the way home! I seriously can’t wait to go back and explore another dish.

Small restaurant in downtown Newbergh. Waitresses are very nice and helpful with menu. At lunch it was quiet and easy to converse. The ceviches are wonderful and you can easily make a meal out of these appetizers. The Incan/Peruvian dishes are quite good and should be tried. Meals are large and quite filling.

Parking is a bit of an issue, but it doesn’t stop me from getting my favorite comfort foods from here. The fried plantains and pollo saltado! The noodles are fresh, the vegetables are savory and that sauce is to die for! The restaurant is quaint with some mood lighting and I have never had to wait for a table. I love this little gem!

Hands down best Peruvian food in the Hudson Valley, even giving Miami a run for the money at a fraction of the price. I discovered ceviche later on in life and have been missing out for about 26 years, first time I had it was here, and it started an addiction. All the food is prepared perfectly and the staff’s suggestions are on point, they really care about the experience of the guest whether your a rookie or a vet, can’t wait to visit again.

Sometimes you just want comfort food that SATISFIES!!! No expensive sit downs, no fancy ambience, no destination must-sees. Just juicy, well seasoned chicken dipped in their spicy sauce.

This was my first experience of a peruvian restaurant, but boy did I enjoy it… had a ceviche for a starter, and then a really hearty chicken dish called carapulcra, and then finished it off with the tres leches cake. Loved every course. I noticed the rotisseries, and will be going back. Great find!

100% RECOMMEND. My family and I needed dinner on the way home from a vacation in Maine and we randomly decided to stop here. The neighborhood seemed a little run down but we needed something to eat. The service was great. Very friendly and attentive staff that was helpful explaining some of the things on the menu like ají. We ordered tostones(fried & squished savory plantains) to share. They took a bit to come but when they did they were hot and fresh. I got ceviche mixto which came quickly and my parents got a fish and a chicken dish that was extremely flavorful and came with a side of rice(you can choose from white, yellow, green(cilantro herbed) or chicken fried rice). Very affordable prices especially for the quality and amount of food we got. We’re leaving stuffed and happy. Love this spot and we hope to come back some day when we’re nearby. They also play some«traditional» music in the background. The only downside is the lighting is low so pics don’t come out great. PS: the restaurant is large and spacious, it has a full bar, and it caters to mostly Hispanic people… that’s when you know it’s really good!

Don’t let the neighborhood influence your choice in eating at this establishment. Although its surroundings seem a bit sketchy, the restaurant and food was delicious. My family ate arroz con pollo with papa a la huancaina, tallarin verde con pollo, cuarto de pollo con papas fritas y se ve perfecta. Since my husbands family is Peruvian, I feel confident in my knowledge of this cuisine. The food speaks for itself, sophisticated and authentic.

I always passed by this place and never gave it the time of day. After my girlfriend suggested that I try it, I see what I’ve been missing. The calimari was the best, the salad as well. The staff was great too… will definitely eat there again

The best Peruvian food in the Hudson Valley. The pork cubes served over roasted sweet potatoes are exquisite. The white beans are to die for.

I loved this restaurant! My whole family thoroughly enjoyed all the food. First off I’d like to mention that we’re from the city where there are plenty of great restaurants and we were very skeptical about eating in this town but we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the bistec esecballano(?)(apologize for misspelling) DELICIOUS! It’s slim cut beef garnished with grilled tomatoes and onions in a nice garlic sauce. Served with rice. Oh and don’t let me forget to mention how TENDER the meat was! I had a full plate and no leftovers. My mom had the chicken with cilantro rice. Very good. And my sister ordered a traditional plate for which I forget the name. Also tasty. Moral of the story is the food is good. Now I know not many may agree with me but I believe that as long as my food is amazing I don’t care how the waiters act. All I know is my food better be good. It was and so was our waiter. Which is a plus not a requirement. Anywho. I loved the food and you should try it too ;)

The interior décor is surprisingly nice for Broadway in Newburgh. Low light for dinner is hard to come by in Newburgh and it’s nice. I would consider taking a date here. The menu is pretty extensive and seems to be pretty authentic. My only complaint is that the prices are more like Manhattan than the Hudson Valley, but the food is solid and the ambiance is a lot better than what you normally get in Newburgh. I had the ceviche and rotisserie chicken. Both were great.

After 2 dine-ins and 1 take-out from Machu Picchu, I have to give them a perfect 5 stars. The food and service is flawless/top notch and makes me feel like a king. I think this is one of the best restaurants in the Hudson Valley, quite possibly among the best in NY State. The menu selection is superb with a wide variety of many tasty meals and authentic flavors. The food is flavorful and tastes fresh and the meal combinations are carefully thought out. The mixed ceviche was the best I’ve had north of southern Florida. The Peruvian pesto and steak meal really made me happy as did the seafood paella. Calamari appetizer was cooked perfect and tasted perfect. The rice and beans, plantains and tostones sides/apps were perfect as well. I live over an hour away, but will continue to find reasons to return or drive down. A++. Bravo! gracias. Highly recommend!

A OG in the newburgh Peruvian food scene. Machu Picchu has been a stalwart on broadway in Newburgh. Not much to look at from the outside but very nice and comfortable in the inside. The food has always been the reason to keep coming back(the service is always very informative and friendly) I’ve been a patron since 1991 and the only issue I do have with the place is that the prices have been on the up and up. There are many other little spots(peruvian) that are quite good an have the same quality of food for much cheaper. What you’re paying for is the ambiance, the full bar and the service.
