This place is really good. I had a steak and sweet potato burrito bowl and I’ve had the fish tacos. Both have been really good. The sauces that they have are creative and tasty too!

Let’s taco ’bout this place. I’ve been twice. Both times they got my order wrong. Lettuce discuss further? No, because I didn’t bring it to their attention. I was just so hungry that I enjoyed the delicious tacos they gave me. Nice and spicy! I’ve tried the pork, beef, fish and the shicken. I liked the beef the most. Jenny said that the fish ones take longer to make so on my second trip I didn’t get those. I sipped a Coca Cola from Mexico and made an origami cannoli with my napkin. My friend Matt tried to Facetime me while I was there and it made me resent him. I get annoyed when people want to randomly Facetime.

Just moved in down the street and already have visited on Multiple Tace Tuesdays as well as other days! Everything we have tried so far is delicious. Everything is fresh, healthy and so good! We will continue to visit!

Came in for lunch earlier today, I got a quesadilla which was good. It came with rice and beans, but both weren’t warm and tasted like they’ve been sitting out. I also saw an employee go in the bathroom with their apron on and then went right back to work in the kitchen to make food. Probably won’t return.

It is quite notable to experience such a consistently friendly and inviting staff. They are always so smiley, and really care about their shop and their customers’ experience. I love going here! I would say it is the best food stop in Newburyport if you are looking for something quick and delicious. Five stars!

Good for Newburyport and good for me. It’s actually good for everybody. Healthy fare: There is a large selection on the menu which ranges from burritos, soft tacos, fish tacos, salads, quesadilla and nachos. They even have veggie nachos, whatever that means. Organic tofu, sweet potato, spinach, fish, vegan, and all on your burrito. Brown rice with no up charge: I’ve never seen this since brown rice became the thing. Get your burrito as a bowl: I tried this and it’s a great option for all you glutards out there or for those who just want to eliminate a few extra calories. Lots of food at a good price: We’re talking honkin’ huge burritos. Like the kind that I can’t seem to finish in one sitting. The only negative I have about it is that they never seem to be prepared for a rush. By that I mean understaffed.

I had the Mexican salad with steak, the guacamole and a fish taco. My partner had a pork burrito. He eats a lot of Mexican and the pork was not great in his opinion. I think its a fresh solid choice. The sauces are unique and spicy but the pico de gallo and guacamole needed cillantro and lime. Strong raw onion flavor. It is fresh and tasty regardless of the customize the flavor. The black beans really had very little taste but For the population its a nice and tasty option. A nice American take on a local Mexican eatery. Bright and welcoming atmosphere. Pleasant to eat in or take out.

Fish tacos, $ 5 burritos, custom sauces! We loved it. The food may be a little spicy for some but this is a great value and you feel welcomed when you are there.

Good burritos. Too bad they don’t have mexican sodas. We had two large chicken burritos and a kids quesadilla and we paid about $ 20. Good deal.

This place is great. I get the chicken burrito in a bowl usually and the grilled corn in the cob usually and never regret it. Daughters love the food here. It’s fresh, well done and delicious. Biggest drawback is the place is always packed! It’s a great addition to the area and so much tastier and fresher than the two alternatives.

Really happy this place came to Newburyport as an affordable alternative to agave. Love being able to walk in and get takeout for my family and feel that the ingredients are consciously chosen. Tough to know this for sure as they don’t seem to claim grass fed beef or organic veggies but this place feels right. One thing I didn’t like was being questioned for a stamp this evening when I got some food to go. My order was a steak nachos(8.50 it was the special) an adult bean burrito, side of guac, adult chicken taco and a kids steak taco. I asked for 3 stamps for the frequent dining card and the woman working in the back came up to say the kids tacos don’t count. It was awkward and unnecessary. She felt she had to, I don’t blame her in the least, she was in the weeds, by herself on a Saturday and clearly exhausted. This is not directed at ALL at her. I am speaking to the owners here. Don’t make your staff feel they have to play police like this. It is a stamp. I spent the equivalent of more than«3 burritos» without question. I welcome you into our community but don’t want to feel like I am being called out in public for choosing your establishment to feed my growing family on a Saturday night.

Burritos and tacos done right. Salsas in the salsa bar blow away the pico and picante offered in the dishes, and are the unsung heroes of Dos Amigos. I tried all 4 salsas and they will possibly change your life. Carrot habanero, blueberry habanero, avocado cream, and smokey chipotle were all outstanding. Nachos are very cheesy and crisp. Service is a bit sluggish compared to similar restaurants but the food is definitely worth the wait.

Great food in a simple shop that focuses on quality. I had the blueberry habañero sauce on my steak burrito tonight — phenomenal. Very happy to have them here in Newburyport!

THEGOOD: Newburyport needs more quick food/take-out places, and this happens to fit that niche perfectly. The rice is great. It’s actually seasoned, like the red rice I’ve eaten in Mexico. It’s not just some weird limey flavored«Chipotle style rice». But don’t worry it’s not spicy or overpowering if you think red rice sounds weird and have never had it before. There is a sizable menu with a lot of vegetarian options as well. The meat tastes really good! I’ve run into one burrito where they skimped pretty hard on the meat, but its cooked well and its pretty flavorful. Pulled pork has a nice texture. THEBAD: It’s a brand new place so it is always packed and it seems they don’t have the manpower to move things along fast enough. Their work flow is opposite that of Anna’s Taqueria where the register comes at the end of the counter instead of the beginning. The person at the register is very friendly but I’ve had to repeat my order several times for them to get it down correctly and I wasn’t doing anything complicated or ordering for more than two people. You order at the register, which seems like it would be fine, but if you want to customize any orders at all(something which they seem to promote) it can be confusing and time consuming which bottlenecks the line to the door.(The alternative would be to place your order with the burrito makers and watch them build it or an order taker, then check out at the end). Maybe I’m wrong, but there is no way to add sauce to the burrito… Their burritos are on the bland side when it comes to spiciness, so you have to doctor it up yourself after you get it from the counter which makes it hard to get the sauce into the actual burrito. THEUGLY: It’s impossible to expect true Tex Mex or Mexican food in the Northeast. This is an issue with just about every Mexican restaurant around here with the exception of one or two and maybe a few places that have specific dishes that are very authentic. I am saying this because lettuce does not belong on Mexican food EVER unless it’s a salad and especially when a meal is «hot» as no one likes warm lettuce. It shouldn’t be a default ingredient. It makes it seem like they’re trying to make wraps disguised as burritos. Why 4 stars? I think this place fills a niche and they do have some pretty tasty ingredients. They also have a lot of options. It has its problems but I take issue with most burrito restaurants as I am picky when it comes to Mexican(clearly). I would rather give a 3.5 but alas I cannot. I might not be a cowboy but I still tend to round up to help off-set the number of extreme whiners that haunt the Unilocalosphere.

Been there twice since it opened. Food was good but a little on the bland side. You definitely have to jazz up the rice and beans at the sauce bar. Wait times are ridiculous though. With only one register and two people working the line, I spent a total of 50 minutes in the restaurant waiting for a takeout burrito at 11:10 am on a Monday. In the future, I will call for takeout well before I need to pick it up. Still prefer Metzy’s in terms of authenticity and flavor but this is a welcome addition to the NBPT restaurant scene. Let’s hope they work out the kinks so the wait times are cut.

Let me start this review by explaining that I am a huge Chipotle fiend. I love it, and it’s one of those places I will always jump at the chance to go. But the closest Chipotle to my cute apartment in Newburyport is all the way in Peabody, so I was super excited to hear that a burrito place was opening up just a few blocks over! Imagine my surprise when I walked into Dos Amigos, and was greeted by incredibly friendly staff who took my order, kindly apologetic when getting used to a new computer system was taking some time. And then I waited, seriously no time at all, to be served(not exaggerating) the best burrito I have ever tasted. Delicious!!! My sister is vegetarian and was pleased to have so many different veggie options available to her, and we were both just blown away at how yummy our food was. She was visiting from out of town, but I can promise I will be back, and often, to enjoy the amazing food and wonderful staff at Dos Amigos!

So happy to have a fast burrito shop downtown. We went opening night. They were obviously swamped and training new people, but they pulled it off marvelously. The chicken and buffalo chicken burritos nailed it. The fish taco great too. Definitely going into the dinner rotation. If they sell meal plans we’ll buy them. :)
