Looks much grungier on the outside than it is. Inside is actually relatively roomy with a few good booths to sit at. Their drink selection is limited, but prices are affordable and the staff is nice. I had the Georgia Tea cocktail, and it was nice and sweet. Not sure how much alcohol was in it though. They do have pretty good music/bands playing so that’s definitely a plus. Overall not a bad place to spend some time on a friday night if you’re in the area. Stay Cheerful ;)

Good live music, excellent service and reasonable prices. Sunday evening Jazz is my preference, however there are great sounds other days of the week as well. Good selection of brews on tap and bartenders that are experienced professionals making the mixed drinks, sets this place apart from the rest. Outside patio available should you desire, booths surround the dance floor and center stage for a bit of that«House of Blues» feel. I recommend you check It out!

Great place to hang out and listen to local bands. They just hooked up the patio so you can hear the PA outside on the patio too, very cool.

I came here in October of 2013 for a friends band. They held a day of the dead masquerade contest as well as burlesque dancers or Halloween. The bands were great.(Punk/Rockabilly) Although it was busy, the bartender was pretty fast. I love that they allow local vendors to sell and self-promote!

There are so many reasons I dislike going out in Santa Clarita. For starters I personally feel like there is no location that caters to that 21+ crowd still in college sorta just graduated maybe still living at home group. I thought maybe this place was one but oh how mistaken I was. Location: This dive bar is located in Old Town Newhall on 8th street in very close proximity to the train station. I guess that’s a plus… you can just hop on a train and go very far from here. I’m not going to lie when my best friend and I came at night I was scared. The area looks almost desolate… not a single soul out… oh and its across the street from a mechanic shop which looks extra scary at night for two females by themselves. Parking: We parked right in front of the venue… I mean I can’t imagine parking being an issue… maybe in the summer when people start crawling out of their holes and going out again. VU Bar and Lounge: There was a nice security man who was outside taking a smoke break. we gave him our IDs and we walked in. There was some music… EDM I believe with a mix of Michael Jackson being played by the DJ. It was pretty empty inside. I ordered a vodka cranberry and it was mostly vodka with a splash of cranberry. The bartender must of understood what I was feeling. We decided to just sit and talk for a little bit but honestly we had come in the hopes of dancing somewhere local… eh unfortunately that is not what happened. 2 stars for the friendly staff and the bartender for the strong drink. I’ve seen mixed reviews for this place so it really is a hit or miss. Ehh. Unilocal 100 Challenger 2015 — 7⁄100

Dirty Dive bar in the seedier area of SCV. Subsequently it is often patronized by rather unsavory individuals who may more may not instigate fights, or vandalize vehicles…

Had a GREAT time there for a Birthday party. We reserved the two tables and took over the dance floor for a hour and a half. The 70s cover band was really entertaining and the stage was awesome. We brought about 30 of our closest friends … so that contributed heavily to the **** rating. Also, there are not that many good places in the SCV to see«live» music. I say«live» because the band played to a pre-recorded track. If you’re looking for a local hang, go check it out. :)

Shittiest place I have ever been to. They treat everyone like shit and a lot of shady people hangout there. Not to mention a recent stabbing! I’ll take my money else where!

The last time I went to this place the women’s restroom stalls were completely disgusting. 2 toilet stalls for women is not enough. The toilets were overflowing with urine and fecal matter flowing out the toilet and onto the dance floor and bar proper! I wish I was joking but I’m not. I was wearing open toed shoes and there was literally at least 3 inches of water flooding the entire bathroom. The stench was unbelievably grotesque. The worst part is that I told my friend about this and he told me that over flowing, clogged toilet stalls, are the norm every time he goes to The Vu, especially when it gets to busy. Why can’t they fix this problem? The health department needs to shut this place down ASAP.

This place was a blast! Reconnected with some friends I haven’t seen in a while… live band karaōke contest on Tuesday nights is the best! Lots of great singers, bartenders are super! Great reunion!

This place has come a long way, newly remodeled, fresh young faces, this is the only place in the whole valley where you can get live metal, rock, and EDM

So I came home from work a few days ago and my roommate wanted to go out and invited me to check out this spot up in the SCV so I figured I’d tag along cause I’m always up to check out new spot. — — — — — - LOCATION — — — — — - It was like 11pm when we got there, don’t remember much of what the surrounding area looked like. It was in NEWHALL technically I think. We parked across the street and from afar I was like«WTF?» It looks like it’s on the side of a mechanics shop. Inside its pretty small, but according to him, for Santa Clarita it’s either this or «Fridays» /«Applebees» which are the late night spots. The dancefloor was small… you could probably pack 25 ppl on it. Big bar area, then a patio area and secondary mini-bar outside. ========== THOUGHTS ========== He warned me before we headed up that it’s hit-or-miss there… either it’s backed… or there’ll be like 12 people there. We went on a Thursday night which was TOP-40’s and Hip Hop night. Music was pretty good. Standard«DJ’igng from a laptop» setup. The beers were $ 4.50 domestic, $ 7 imported which was a bit much for a small place. However they had a $ 1-beers at the outdoor patio mini-bar, which was good. $ 1 for some Coors light on tap, can’t past that up. Had 4 of those… eventually they ran out :-( By 12:30am it got pretty packed, nice flow of people in. Overall… you can’t beat $ 1 beers, …had some $ 4-well tequila. Music was good, dancefloor eventually got filled, a few cuties. It wasn’t a bad place, definitely a solid 3.

Great place for what they are advertising. If you want a low key after work beer, This is not the place to get it.(unless you go between 5 and 8pm) THe VU is known for advertising to the 21 to 27 range that are«some what still in college» as well as the«just got my first real job» crowd. Best nights are Wednesday with their electro night — great crowd and amazing DJs, the even bring bigger headlining DJs that you would see spinning in Las Vegas Or around the world. And Thursday for their top 40 and hip hop night. They have their resident DJ shadowman who knows his way around a spinning record. I have gone a couple times in the last 2 weeks checking out the different nights and is definitely pleased with the establishment. Specialty drinks on wednesday were doubling the size of the cocktail for the same price. I really liked that. You will be seeing me there more often than not because it is possible the only true dance floor north of los angeles.

Oh the VU… on paper you look like a 10, reality is a bit different but overall, I still come back to you. Smoking patio, nice, DJ’s playing hip hop & dub step… double nice. The glow bracelets and sloppy rave wannabe drunk/high dancers… ahem, so late 90’s, please stop. It’s a good time though mostly, the clientele is hit or miss but as for a bar that serves drinks and has a fireplace(which I just noticed) it’s not all that bad.

This is a great local club to go to if you like cheap drinks. But that’s about the only draw. The clientele looks like a meth rehab facility that thought a disco ball would help boost morale. If you can’t dance-feel free to dance here. The dancing Here is about as coordinated as watching an amputee crotchet while playing twister inside a tornado. N
