Asian Chef

I had some business to handle in Newnan. Now I have never been out this way and was completely unfamiliar as to what restaurants where close. I used the Unilocal app to find this place and was very pleased. I ordered Steak Hibachi takeout. Portions were very sizeable! I asked for extra yum yum sauce and they gave me a whole 8oz container. The steak was delicious and so was the rice. I had enough to eat my food for dinner and take some to lunch. If this place wasn’t an hour from my house I’d surely come back.

Just ordered dinner from Asian Chef and it was AWESOME! Arrived very fast. Sushi was so fresh! Moo Goo Gai Pan, chicken skewers, fried rice and steamed dumplings were hot and tasty! I am so full but I am already looking forward to the leftovers!

They no longer do hibachi in front of you. I was a little disappointed until I got my «hibachi» dinner. Man o man it was plentiful and delicious

My wife and I went recently and had all you can eat sushi. We read reviews singing praises of how fresh the sushi was. We were extremely disappointed as all of the sushi tasted like mush. We will go elsewhere for sushi. The miso soup and salad, on the other hand, was delicious.

My wife, daughter and myself dined at Asian Chef on Bullsboro Dr. Last night November 22.
My wife had the chicken lo mein, daughter had sweet and sour chicken and I had General Tso’s chicken. All of our food was hot and delicious.
We are visiting from St. Louis, Mo. To bad we won’t be having Chinese again before returning home. Next time we visit we will eat here again!

Ordered delivery and they came on time… fried rice was good but Mongolian Beef, Hunan Beef and Sweet and Sour Chicken were not very good at all…

Moving here from California and this place ranks with some of the freshest sushi I’ve ever had! Very nice surprise to find this gem in Newnan. This will be a frequent on my list. Jo was a very nice server too.

Good quality Chinese food. Decent ambiance with live hibachi. Sushi is pretty bland. Sushi bar doesn’t talk much. For sushi in this area I choose Tomo.

I’ve been ordering from Asian Chef for over 5 years. Usually, we have it delivered but the last few times the order has either been all wrong, cold, 2 hours waiting or just not good food. I know the manager (Winston) who is very nice and definitely wants his customers to be happy. I decided to stop ordering b/​c of all the issues — until tonight. I was in the area and decided to call-​in an order for pick-​up. I ordered spicy veggie & chicken lo mein and hibachi lobster w/​white rice. The hibachi lobster has a few pieces of broccoli and a ton of mushrooms and onions and was not very good. The lo mein was the WORST i’ve ever eaten. It tasted like dough and was just plain noodles and chicken w/​no veggies except some carrot strips which I specifically asked be omitted. Anyways, perhaps the cooks have changed, or something is different, but i am definitely sure that i will NEVER order from here again b/​c the food was horrible. It’s really a shame b/​c the manager may not realize that the quality of the food has significantly gone down…

The waitress was one of the worst I’ve ever had. After 30 minutes and coming to our table multiple time, she never once asked if we needed refills on our water. By the time one of us finally flagged her down and asked, all four people in our party had empty glasses. 10 minutes later and still no water. I had to get up out of my seat and go up to her while she was chatting with the hostess to ask for refills, and she rolled her eyes and gave me attitude the whole time. She was also very rude to the people who sat with us around the grill. None of the 6 of us gave her a tip. The food was mediocre at best. Definitely won’t be going back here.

I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in Newnan! The Mongolian chicken is awesome and the service is always really good too. The portions are really big so you always have left overs! Love this place!

After 45 mins sitting and waiting for our food. We were listening to the waitresses yelling to one another in front of the house and back of the house… Dropping plates and watching them run around the place like it was busy… 3 tables total in the building and 2 women at the bar… So not busy. They forgot to ring our order, which after 45 mins and now you realize that and still don’t ring it in. All they could say on the way out is «he’s new and bye» in a sarcastic tone. I will never be back. No wonder this place is always dead.

Ive been eating here for many years and am a local. I wonder about any review that recommends another asian restaurant. Hmmm…
Winston always greets me by name when i come in. The sushi bar has good atmosphere, my service is always top notch and the sushi is always fresh and well prepared. I’ve eaten sushi all over the world, for real, and this is among the best.
I have ordered delivery multiple times and it has always arrived promptly, is hot and very good.

We have been loyal customers to Asian Chef for over a year. They are great. Good food, and good atmosphere. Service is great. We were disappointed when they started preparing the hibachi in the kitchen instead of in front of you, but it still has a great taste.

We eat here regularly. The food is always excellent. The owner is always very welcoming and has a smile on his face. The asian guy that usually waits on us is so cute. His English is not very good but he tries so hard. His is precious. They aren’t super fast but they are always super nice and the food consistently great! We always eat on the sushi restaurant side, so I’m not sure how the hibachi grill is. I sometimes order food to go at lunch and they are pretty fast with that. We had my daughter’s eighteenth birthday there. Its was the perfect place. They gave my daughter this super nice pair of chopsticks in a little wooden box.

The place is an average restaurant. The first time I came in, I waited forever for my food. Everybody at my table received their food and had eaten it before I even received my dish, and all I ordered was a sashimi plate. What was so hard about preparing slices of raw fish? I was mad over the service and tipped the waiter 10%. For my inconvenience, they did give me a $ 10 coupon for a future visit.
I decided to give them a try the next week and give them the benefit of the doubt. I ended up having the same waiter, but this time, he brought my food out to me almost instantly this time around. The food was ok, but not fantastic.
Not much else to say about the restaurant.

Went in based on the reviews. Mongolian Beef tasted like they started with a decent basic sauce and added pancake syrup. Unbelievably sweet with no heat at all. I’ll go back to Fire Dragon

Horrible. My wife and I both got sick after eating at the hibachi here. The sushi isn’t any better either.

Think the address might be wrong on this… in the Walmart shopping center.
Got the Sizzling rice soup, sashimi platter, california roll and general tsao’s chicken. All of it was A-​OK… But not GREAT. If you are looking for chinese in the Newnan Crossing area this is the BEST bet… much fresher and greater selection than Panda Express. Gen Tsao nice and crunchy, good chicken inside, sauce was just a tad off, but couldn’t place it. Soup had big shrimp and pieces of chicken and veggies in it so was good, but broth just a little tasteless. Sashimi was so Thin… wafer like, and they didn’t serve with usual wasabi, but with a thin slice of jalapeño and sweet soy type sauce. Fish was fresh.
Has a hibachi japanese grill on one side, sushi bar and regular sit down for chinese or sushi on the otherside. House wine was OK and cheap. Décor is nice. Prices reasonable. I would go back if I was in the area.
Gave us a sliced orange with our check and that was a nice touch.

«One of the Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in the USA.» That’s the slogan that got us in the door. What you may not know is that it is in the top 100 not according to the consensus of food critics or patrons, but rather the Chinese Restaurant News Association in its 7^th annual competition.
Don’t get me wrong; the food was pretty good — just not «top 100» good. What was nice is their ability to satisfy both your craving for American-​influenced Chinese food and Japanese food as well. They have a traditional restaurant on one side, with Japanese hibachi tables on the other. The prices were a little high for the appetizers, and very reasonable for the entrees.
What sets the food apart from other Chinese restaurants in the area is their not drowning the dishes in thick sauce as is often the case with Chinese restaurants. The dishes were well-​seasoned and tasty, without being too heavy.
Service was pretty good — we had a very anxious waitress who spoke little English. Though she hovered at times, we never had to ask for water or anything else.
Top 100 in the US? No. Maybe top in 100 in Georgia, outside the Perimeter. For best in the area, try Little Szechuan at 5091 Buford Hwy., Doraville.
