We are visiting from out of town and have been in this Starbucks a few times since being here. The staff should definitely work on their perkiness and overall friendly customer service skills! Coffee is great. but not impressed with the attitudes… a friendly smile can go a long way. keep in mind your customers pay attention to EVERYTHING!!!

I know. I know. Not all Starbux’ are made equal. And this reminded me of that. And reminded me why I would go out of my way to go to the one that is across the street from CVS. I ordered a Caramel Macchiato. Extra shot of Caramel. Soy Milk. And the whip cream. I got something else. I think a mocha latte. Then when I told them that wasn’t what I ordered, they asked if I wanted them to make the drink I had wanted to begin with. Of course I said no. I’ll take this. I can’t wait any longer than I already have been, waiting for my wrong drink. I never have gone there again, I never will. There are so many other ones that have parking, drive thrus, competent and friendly baristos/as. Never Again!!!

This Starbucks is a hotspot, on a very busy intersection in Newport News. Parking is a constant issue, and makes one wonder how the city fathers granted the permit to build at this location with a smallish parking lot. The shop is a good size, with plenty of seating, and the baristas are fairly efficient at moving the crowd along. Not a bad place to chill while others participate in the great American pastime, shopping. After stops in Lowes and BB&B, I had my fill of big boxes, and came here for respite. But, in the end, Starbucks is Star$$$, and to my palate, their coffee is just not very good, unless you fall prey to the upsell to buy more expensive alternatives to avoid the bitterness of the basic beans. Yes. they do have a magic franchise, but while the store may be comfortable, the basic product leaves a lot to be desired. As cafes go, this is a decent one and obviously successful.

This Starbucks location is pretty big. It can get busy at times here. It’s located at Jefferson Avenue and Oyster Point in Newport News. The staff is very friendly and efficient while preparing drinks. The only downfall to this location is the difficulty of getting in and out of the parking lot. Jefferson and Oyster Point is one of the most busiest intersections in the area. It can be very stressful getting out of Starbucks, especially if you need to turn left onto Victory Boulevard.

Tons better than the *$ in the airport, these folks have a clue. Quick service, well stocked and the wifi worked great. This is a good Starbucks.

This Starbucks store holds a special memory for me. This is where I was sitting minding my own business about 10 years ago when I happened to look out the window to spot a gentleman that looked like Bill Cosby walking into the store. It was one of those surreal moments where you tell yourself, «NAHHH, quit playin!» But as the gentleman got closer to the door, opened it and walked in, it was sure enough the legendary Dr. William Cosby himself! Needless to say that was the highlight of my day and still is after all these years! The location of this store is in a very, very busy area of Newport News. To give 757 southsiders an understanding, imagine the intersection of Va Beach Blvd and Independence. Military Highway and Va Beach Blvd or Military Hwy and Northampton. That’s pretty much the volume of traffic at the intersection of Oyster Point Rd and Jefferson Ave where this store sits. I merely used this comparison to prepare you for the inevitable horrid parking conditions. It’s not uncommon to arrive in the lot and have to wait several minutes for available parking to open up. And it’s not out of the question to have to park in the McDonalds parking lot behind the store and walk over. There’s a Ntelos Wireless store next door but the bottom line is that the lot is much too small for the sheer volume of customers both businesses create. And also add the fact that this store doesn’t have a drive thru and you can quickly see how messy things get. But yet and still… This Starbucks was my hangout spot when I was stationed at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station back in the early 2000s. The baristas have changed, the store layout has changed but the fundamental expectations in quality one comes to expect from Starbucks has not changed. This store has the most chairs and tables than any other store I’ve visited in the area. It’s not the biggest store I’ve been in but I think that this store utilizes and maximizes its available space the best. Even with all of the chairs and tables it doesn’t feel claustrophobic. And just as a sidenote, this store also has one of those King Henry IV dinner tables… best used to seat and serve 12 but this is America where individual space is prized so a mere TWO occupy this monstrosity. Okay, let me get off my soapbox… Décor is typical only that the standard«cozy corner» is more like a cozy living room equipped with a gas burning fireplace. I like that; I think it adds even more coziness to the overall vibe. In conclusion, this location is an overall great store but I had to be honest and dock it for the abysmal parking situation and the service is kind of slow. Now to the baristas defense there are constant waves of customers flooding them but I believe management should already know this(as they study numbers like no one’s business) and should adjust as necessary. It doesn’t make sense to have to stand in line for 15 minutes because two poor tired baristas are running ragged behind the counter to keep up. Huge shout outs to the hardworking baristas at this store! Max A. sees y’all caught up in the struggle… and raises a toast on your behalf… er, with the Pumpkin Spice Latte you whipped up for me.

Let’s be honest, Starbucks is one of the best franchises of our time, so it’s hard to argue about the coffee. This location does a pretty good job all around however the setup of the parking lot makes it difficult to maneuver in the mornings.

This Starbucks is at the busiest intersection in NN. Which is great, but terrible to get in and out of the parking lot. Inside is a spacious seating area, complete with a long picnic-like table and a fireplace for the winter. The staff is great, but also depends on who is working. This location also gets busy sometimes, so it may be even harder to find parking and a place to sit inside. Other than that, it’s your typical S’Buck. Serves overpriced coffee and whatnot.

Pretty friendly staff, a fairly spacious Starbucks. getting in and out of the parking lot can be a little stressful because close to such a busy intersection.

Every time I go in here, I feel like its the mid to late 90’s again and that gives me the warm and fuzzies when I have my weekly coffee press. Just a warning however, this place is extremely tricky to get in and out of.
