I’m as in love and crazy about Trader Joe’s as the next fresh market gal who loves great prices on great food… but does anybody feel me on the fact that this place is hopping almost 24⁄7(a good sign of greatness I know) and makes me feel like I am ALWAYS in someone’s way… AH! Either I am swerving around someone, saying, «I’m sorry» for being in someone’s way(or imagining I am in someone’s way), or trying to get to a product where someone is in my way! Ha! Can I continue to deal with all this fiasco time and time again… is it really worth it you might ask… HECK yeah! This place is AWESOME!!! The workers… always helpful! The grocery store itself… pretty much always in great order(minus all the people, lol) The prices… wonderful! The quality… Oh so good, Oh so fresh… your body will thank you profusely for buying the«good stuff» Trader Joe’s knows what its doing… and does it well, VERY well! Someone had stated that Aldi’s is owned by Trader Joe’s, so I will be going there the next I am in Portsmouth!

2015 Customer Choice Award Winner!!! Congrats! I love this location. Who am I kidding, I haven’t come across a location that I do not like. Friendly staff that know their stuff. They’re quick to ask what you’re cooking or offer recipes. Small and compact, located in the Jefferson Commons shopping plaza across from the NN/Williamsburg Intl Airport, parking is ample and its minutes away from several communities in Newport News. I stuck with this location thru almost a year of not having orzo on the shelf as a result of a foreign supplier going belly up. They offer taste tests, hot coffee, and wine tastings. They’ve got better background music than most lounges. Aisles are wide, store is bright and well stocked with an eclectic assortment of frozen, dry and canned items. Their frozen pie crust is ridiculous! I feel their pricing is reasonable however I would like a few items to be offered in larger quantities like the organic heavy whipping cream and almost all of their dry breakfast cereals. I’d rate it five stars if the fresh produce and baked bread sections were larger… totally out of their control I know.

I was on hand the day they opened, on hand for their 10th anniversary, and just keep going back. Love this place. Everything is sell is usually just great. On those rare occasions I am unhappy, they take it back, you get your money, all is well. Now if you bought everything that looked good you would need a large vehicle to get it home so do what I do: take a list and allow yourself a treat for one or two different or new things to try. How much do I like this place? I can actually walk in here in a bad mood and feel better when I leave. I would like to see another grocery store do that trick!

Loveeeee TJ’s! They aren’t the cheapest store around, but to pick up a few of your favorite items you should be fine in here :) The employees are always so helpful and I try to find 1 – 2 new products every time I go in to see if I’ll like it and keep them as «Regulars» :) I found 2 for this week!

I have been to this place a couple of times. And every single time they have a good selection the team is very knowledgeable. I go here for some specialty items and the holistic atmosphere.

3.5 stars for being a decently clean store with some variety in selections. As with TFM I also prefer this location of TJs to the one in Williamsburg because it seems more organized and somehow the staff here is nicer. This store has just about everything but not enough for me to make it my only grocercy shopping location. Prices are moderate and I have to say that some Trader Joe brand products can be horribly disgusting,(i.e sushi and a large amount of their sandwiches). The bathrooms here are also usually dirty and their free coffee stand is more often than not a total mess! Yes, they sell wine but I have yet to find a wine that I am crazy about, although their prices are pretty cheap. I enjoy their baked goods selection-especialy their seasalt brownies. Yum. The produce is properly culled and for the most part looks fresh and well stocked. They have a good selection of fake meats. They also have a nice variety of «ethnic» foods that taste pretty good. Overall, I return to this location out of convience and for better and more healtheir options than other grocery chains.

Im not big into the vegan or whatever scene, but I am a wino. And this place has a great selection of wines from all over the country. The $ 2 bottle deals are great. I’ve now walked in here with my bath robe on, picked up a bottle, and walked home to drink to my hearts content. Tried some of their turkey jerky too. Once I got past the smell, and also a little drunk from the wine, I was able to finish a whole bag. By my calculations it was roughly 95g of protein. Nice! Seriously we’ve all been to a trader joes, this place is stocked well, ran by great people, and the prices are not insane.

1. great staff– i mean awesome! they all are so knowledgable about their products, are helpful, smiley. 2– return policy– also awesome. ive taken back a few things i just«did not like the taste of” — not only did they refund my item WIHOUTQUESTIONS, they also offered suggestions and personal experiences. 3– prices– almost equivalent to that of walmart on a few items-peanut butter, fruits, sugar, etc. 4– location– very conveniently located in the middle of Jefferson commons– all the business & buziness. 5– great selection of beer and wine. they have an awesome freezer section with royal desserts, cheeses. They are always sampling coffee and quick bite of something yummy. Oh, they also carry household nautral products– animal food, deodrant, toothpaste, toilet paper, etc. Learnt today(by reading online) — that apparently TJ does not collaborate with local meat sellers– so most of their meat is shipped from CA. 6– quick in, quick out– every register does a return and most lines are very short. 7– cute little kiddy corner with a kids bench and coloring paper. I dont know how they run such an efficient store, nor do i understand how they get their staff to be accommodating and friendly ALLTHETIME. Whatever TJs here is doing, needs to be replicated everywhere. 5 Stars!

Love this store! Its too far away for me to be a true regular but they have the best wine prices in town. The produce is cheaper than a regular grocery store and they have a great selection of ethnic foods. All around great store.

Trader Joe’s ROCKS. They maintain a clean place. We can count on finding something new and healthy to try on every visit and I LOVE the free samples. It’s been a great way to tryout items you may otherwise pass just not wishing to take the risk. Keep up the great work! I DO like the quirky way they advertise by sending that faux newspaper… innovative and definitely unique.

Looooooove! This Location is different than my regular location in Forest Hills, NY. They have Wines! This may be a normal thing for those used to this luxury but to me it’s wonderful! The staff is so friendly, as at most TJs. Everything is laid out nice and neat. Great Store.

Trader Joe’s is awesome! Their model for business is what every business should strive for. Great prices on good products with amazing customer service! This particular store is never dirty, always organized and the employees have always been friendly and attentive. I visit the store once or twice a month, but I was particularly amazed at the kindness of one employee(I really wish I would have gotten her name) when dealing with my autistic son. We were checking out and he was being his typical loud self. He is non-verbal and often times just makes loud noises. She came from behind the register, got down to his level and asked him if he would like a balloon. She didn’t try to pretend he didn’t exist, she didn’t avoid eye contact, she didn’t seem weird or uncomfortable around him. She treated him like she would have treated any other child and that makes my heart smile! :)

This is where all the Richmond/VCU scenesters go to work after dropping out of art school. Some of the cashiers aren’t very friendly. Usually it’s those types that aren’t. They’re not mean, but with the long lines and busy store, it doesn’t make me want to return very often. They have a great selection of health foods and other specialty items I love.

Who needs to pay more at Whole Foods, when Trader Joe’s has an awesome selection at an affordable price? Their store brand products offer items that you can’t find elsewhere, with excellent quality. What you should be checking out: The beer and wine selection — it’s not just«2 Buck Chuck». Simmer sauces. Fresh guacamole ingredients in a bag ready for you to dice and combine. Fresh flowers. Their staff. Seriously, the staff has to taste their products in meetings and discuss them. Talk about knowing the product!

I’ve never had a bad Trader Joe’s experience as far as food or crew members. I love that when you’re looking for something, rather than pointing you to ‘Aisle X’, they walk you to the item you’re looking for… it makes me feel special :)
Hopefully we’ll have one in Norfolk someday b/c NN and Laskin are far, but for the once a month trip or so, it’s worth it. I try to find something new to try each time we go… prices are great and they will take anything back, no questions asked, if you don’t like it!

This is my favorite place to grocery shop! I love everything except the lettuce, baby spinach, and other salad mixes. We come here about every 2 weeks, its very kid friendly! All of the employees are super sweet. I usually go early in the morning when they are stocking that mornings shipments. I have had the same employee stop everything they are doing and ask me if I need help finding anything. Its a very positive shopping experience. I always look forward to going there!

Dear Trader Joe’s Please open a store in Suffolk. Thank You. I love Trader Joe’s and although I do find it a tad pretentious as another reviewer mentioned, I don’t think the prices are outrageously high. I find that many items are alot cheaper than Harris Teeter, for example. Namely, pure Irish churned butter. If you haven’t tried it, do so. You will not be disappointed. One thing that kinda sucks is the prize you get for finding the treasure chest. One tiny piece of candy. Perhaps this is geared more towards the little ones. Maybe that’s why they looked at me funny when I «yelped»(get it?) with excitement when I saw the treasure chest tucked away behind the brown basamati rice. Oh well.
