My wife and I went to this Chipotle-clone for a quick dinner while on vacation in Newport. What a mistake! My wife got nachos & I had a salad. Both were served with very watery toppings, making her nachos mushy and turning my salad into almost a stew. I think they person who prepared our entrees just dumped the beans onto the tray instead of straining them in any fashion. It was disgusting and we both had stomach issues later that night. Avoid this place!

And the update… This place has become my go to delivery joint in the area(not just mexican food, but out of all of the delivery I get). My favorite items are anything with the spicy chicken. Just enough heat with a great flavor. The pork, ground beef, and steak are also good. Very generous with the toppings/add ons. The burritos are large, the bowls are overflowing, the salads aren’t more veggies than toppings, and the tacos are awesome as well. The staff has been great. I’ve had a few issues with their website, and all it takes is a phone call, and everything is sorted out immediately. Eventually, I will dine in/get take out, but I’m very pleased with their delivery. Oh yeah, the delivery is also typically faster than the quoted time! So, the next time I order delivery, it will probably be from them.

This place has quickly gone down hill the last three visits they were out of rice on one, the second time out of beans, and the third time our of cheese. This place use to be very good however it has slipped big time.

Good portions, great taste and fast delivery. I had been to the one in North Providence and loved it, so I decided to give this one a try. It was exactly as expected and all three of us loved our burrito bowls(Burrito without the tortilla). I will definitely be ordering from them again, especially because I work nights and this is New England and it’s winter! No reason to go outside when the food came come to you. My only complaint was that the order arrived without silverware and napkins.

Ordered take out and the food was pretty good. In town on business so it was close to my hotel which was great. Received service with a smile, which is always great.

This place is great when you’re looking for something quick, delicious, and satisfying. He portions are more than enough, I usually order the salad when I’m in town. The price is great for the grand portions given.

This place is almost identical to Chipotle. I ordered the soft taco entrée with spicy steak. The meat is definitely spicy. It was very good. I would come back for the tacos.

Pretty good burritos at the goin rate for such a thing. If you’ve been to chipotle then you’ve been to cilantro as well. Good stuff, nothing to write home about, but pretty solid nonetheless.

I gave it four stars because I have a good and a bad encounter with this restaurant. I attempted to order delivery and unfortunately, the website is not up to date with the restaurant itself. After my delivery process was completed and confirmed, the store called me and told me that delivery was not available on a Sunday. The order was canceled and I was told I would be receiving a refund. When I called them back after a missed call, the associate on the phone was very rude. I wish I had asked her name. Anyway, long story short, the G.M. Matt was the best and easiest manager I had ever encountered. Not only was he very helpful in giving me my refund right away, he was very nice and generous on the phone. There needs to be more managers like him everywhere and he deserves to be in a superior position. The 4 stars is for him and the 1 missing star is for that rude associate.

We’ll go with 3.5 stars in this Chipotle-like eatery with a seemingly overwhelming number of choices. Felt a little rushed, but overall, the quality, flavor, and prices were pretty good!

Bad customer service!!! While I was in line, the cashier kept chatting with this military dude even after he got his order and did not even look at us who were waiting in line! Nachos were stale and the burrito was cold.

May 23, 2014 In the latest edition of «Laura’s Lunch,» I decided to take myself to Cilantro Mexican Grill, which is located just down the street from my office. The reason I was all hopped up on the thought of Mexican food was because on Wednesday people from my office were eating it. Being the suggestive eater that I am, I decided that I absolutely needed to have Mexican food as soon as possible. I called in my order mainly because I’m lazy and hate waiting for things. I ordered a large quesadilla on a smoked pepper tortilla with barbecue chicken, sautéed onions and peppers, pico de gallo, cheese and sour cream($ 7.55). Since my order wasn’t nearing my personal $ 10 maximum to spend, I decided to throw in a small bag of chips and salsa($ 1.50). I was quoted a total of $ 8.62 and told that it would only take five minutes for my order to be ready. I headed down the street and pulled into a parking space. Of course, since I never ever look down, I stepped right into a huge puddle. Dragging my soaking wet foot inside, I saw that my quesadilla was being packed up. «Perfect timing,» said the guy behind the register. A girl began to cash me out and asked me if I wanted chips and salsa. I told her yes(and wondered why she was asking since I had ordered it over the phone). She then quoted me a total of $ 9.16. I asked why and she told me that the phone dude never added in my chips and salsa. These chips and cup of salsa were starting to be a pain in the butt, but I had no idea what was to come. I cashed out and she asked me if I wanted a bag to put my chips and salsa in(the chips were in a small paper bag and the salsa in a small plastic cup). I said no because I had every intention of balancing the chips and salsa on top of the quesadilla box all the way back to work. Mind you, I have never balanced anything in my life. I pulled into the office parking lot, carefully balancing the chips and salsa on top of the quesadilla box until I reached the employee entrance. A man I’d never seen before let me in. I thanked him and took a sharp left around the corner and that’s when it happened. I dropped the salsa onto the rug in the hallway. The cup of salsa overturned and made a SPLAT sound like someone dropped a watermelon off the top of a building. It was absolutely disgusting. What made matters worse is that it made the rug look like something out of a crime scene. The unknown guy behind me just froze … and then started laughing. Due to the way the salsa fell, the cover was still a bit underneath the container. The laughing man did his best to slide the cover back under the salsa, flip the cup and then handed it back to me. I ran to the break room to retrieve napkins, but he found them faster and scooped up the salsa for me. What a gentleman! As flattered as I was, I never wanted to see this person again since I was horribly embarrassed, but as it turns out he works in the same department I do. He works the night shift so I never see him. Awkward! As he left the office he said, «Enjoy your lunch,» and then started laughing again. Alright, back to business. There were a few more inconveniences that took place(no utensils, I forgot to get a drink, I couldn’t find napkins, etc.), but on the whole the food was«meh.» I really enjoy Mexican food and on this Friday-that-had-the-appeal-of-a-Monday, I wanted something awesome. The chips actually had a weird taste to them. I don’t know what it was, but my guess is that there was either too much salt or they were too greasy. Either way, something was up. As for the salsa — yes, the floor salsa which I actually consumed — it was just ok. Perhaps it would have been better if it hadn’t been scooped off the carpet outside of the men’s room. I got the«medium» version and I will say that it had a medium amount of heat. The quesadilla was a really good size, but I wasn’t wowed by the flavor. The veggies inside made everything gloppy and for some reason the quesadilla was lava hot. I know that it was freshly made, but the foil surrounding it definitely did its job of keeping in the heat. Because of this, the sour cream melted and disappeared, leaving none of its awesome flavor behind. The most flavorful ingredient was the barbecue chicken, which was cooked perfectly but the taste overpowered everything else. Minutes from the office: One. Cost of the meal with drink: $ 9.16 for the misquoted meal and $ 1 for a soda from the office machine. Will I go back? Yes. I definitely want to give this place another shot. My meal was good and for the amount of food I got, the price was appropriate. It was my own clumsy fault for destroying the salsa, so I’ll try and be more careful on my next visit. Yummy, quick, and satisfying. Love that Cilantro offers delivery, it’s so convenient on days we need to order lunch at the office. I always go for the deconstructed burrito bowl. Good portions, low price, and very filling.

This place is crap. Seriously, go eat ANYWHEREELSE. There’s a 7 – 11 across the street where you can get a hot dog, You should do that before you eat here. I realize you might think I am indulging in hyperbole, so let me be completely clear — this place prepares actual garbage and«serves» it to you on little plastic baskets, and you are invited to eat your«meal» in a grimy, barren dining room with your plastic fork and knife. The food is horrible and would be overpriced even if it was decent. Staff is ugly in every way imaginable. The whole place is filthy. I would call and ask for my $ 10 back but I’m sure they wouldn’t give a rat’s ass about my complaint. Hell, they probably need all the rat ass they can get for their disgusting little buffet of crap.

Trash… I’m from Texas so i have fairly high burrito standards and cilantro’s just wasn’t up to the task. Like others have said, my burrito was extra cold. Nothing was warm. Plus, even with ‘spicy’ salsa and extra jalapenos there was zero spice. Took about half a bottle of cholula chipotle to fix that. Realized a couple bites in that I had missed the queso and perhaps that would help the situation. Went back to get a side of queso and received some sort of grainy gravy-like substance. Literally the worst queso ever. Cilantro’s worked in a pinch to quell my burrito craving but even taco bell is better than this.

I cannot believe how filthy this place was. Every table was dirty the floor disgusting and every employee of in the kitchen somewhere. The line where food was located so gross I left before placing an order. If the board of health walked in it would closed down. Stay away

Immediately noticed a dirty kitchen. Rice was not cooked. When I went to get my drink saw mold on the dispenser. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Unilocal has my rating spot on: Cilantro is A-OK. Aquidneck Island is admittedly limited on places to get a delicious burrito. There is Tito’s, El Grande, Diego’s, and Sapo’s Freaky Burrito — however all four of those restaurants lean towards sitting down for dinner. Cilantro fills the«fast food» convenience here. To be honest, Cilantro is just a knockoff of the popular chain Chipotle. I think that the people who work at the Newport location are really nice and are extremely generous with their food portions. I usually grab vegetarian burritos and unless I had a huge appetite that day, I barely finish my meal. I think their guacamole is pretty good too, to boot! Cilantro also has frequent customer cards with 10 punches getting you a free burrito, a big plus for all us burrito lovers out there. Given the choice and time I would pick Sapo’s Freaky Burrito over Cilantro but since it’s just so much easier to just run in, get a burrito and leave I often go to Cilantro’s more.
