Got delivery from crazy doughs and it was a horrible experience. Our pizza looked like the box was thrown on the ground. For a $ 25 pizza I’d expect it to come looking like a pizza. Getting delivery from crazy doughs is always an ordeal. Previously I’ve been called after ordering delivery to come pick up my pizza if I still wanted it. Never ordering from them again.

I would love to give this place a 5 star review; as when referring to their actual pizza… it’s probably one of my favorites in town. They always have a variety of pizzas [away from the normal cheese and pepperoni] so I know I’m going to have a flavor burst of an experience… and after being out at the bars some nights… nothing beats a hot slice of heaven. The issue… and the reason for only 2 stars is I NEVER know when they are actually going to be open. I can’ trust the hours posted on the door anymore. On way more than I can count on my fingers have I made the walk over for a slice [during a NORMAL hour, like 8pm] and they are either already sweeping/cleaning/doors locked… or just the entire place is shut down and locked… Excuse my but your hours ONYOURDOOR say until 10pm on a Sunday. Not to mention there have been BUSY, SUMMER, WEEKEND nights I’ve sought out some Crazy Dough pizza and the place is lights out and closed. If it’s a staffing issue, maybe change your hours or post something along these lines, because I’m tired of being disappointed by locked doors.

Crazy Dough’s in Newport looks like an unassuming little place on Thames Street, but once you go there, you’ll never forget it. The shop itself is small, but it’s full of big flavors. Big prices, too, but I guess that’s what you should expect from a pizza joint situated along a touristy strip of shops and competing restaurants. The first time I visited was in the wee hours of the morning, accompanied by a group of friends, after attending a house party. I probably wasn’t in the best condition to fully appreciate the genius that is Crazy Dough’s. But I remember sharing a slice of their Potato Bacon Cheddar pizza, and, well, do I really need to finish the sentence? Potato. Bacon. Cheddar. PIZZA. It was amazing. Since that first slice, I couldn’t wait to go back and get more. The second time I went, I had my heart set on the same kind of pizza, but I guess they don’t always have every flavor available. I was brokenhearted to see that they didn’t have my favorite, but I settled for a couple slices of cheese. It was still a bit pricey even for plain pizza, but it was so good that it pretty much made up for it. The rest of my friends only ordered one slice, but oh no, I could never stop at just one. Even though the slices are huge, I gobbled my two up like there was no tomorrow. No shame. Since then, I have been back two other times. Once for a slice of cheese pizza, which accompanied me on a walk to admire the scenic views from the piers across from the restaurant. And on my most recent visit, I was reunited with my cheesy, bacon-y, potato-covered favorite. Fully able to appreciate its deliciousness this time around, I was left totally satisfied.

The worst place ever! I’ve been a regular customer for at least 6 months. And today, they lost a customer for their terrible service and treatment. First of all, the lady that takes the orders doesn’t even know how to take an order. I received my pizza with things that I never asked and cold. They charged me $ 34 for this pizza and when I called to tell that was the wrong order and that was cold, not only she was rude raising her tone, they also didn’t want to refund me or at least suggest for a solution. They just told me that at the time that I was calling they were not delivering anymore and that they couldn’t refund me. I work in the Hospitality business and this situation it’s not only abusive, clearly shows the lack of respect from the restaurant to their regular customers.

Had a slice while walking around Newport. Very nice thin and crispy dough with several very fresh toppings. Several pizzas for slices had just come out of the oven so it was very hot. Would go here again if I was looking for pizza in Newport.

I love their pepperoni pizza! The crust is tho and crispy and exactly what brick oven pizza should be. They have tons of different pizza combinations on the menu that look delicious too. If you order a large pie, it’s really big which is nice because it’s thin crust so you might eat more.

Halloween night. Stopped in for a slice. Had their award-winning deep dish pie. OMG! SOGOOD! We prefer thin NY style pizza, but our thick crust slices were absolutely delicious. Fun guys behind the counter and great tunes on the sound system made us feel right at home. :) Thanks!

Honestly not worth the time or money. The people in there were super rude and it’s very cramped. The pizza wasn’t anything to brag about. I went here with my boyfriend just to see if it was anything good and it wasn’t! Worst mistake of my life. The slices felt old and were really burnt, the cheese was gross. Don’t go here unless you want some food poisoning. The slice was big but it doesn’t matter how big it is if it doesn’t taste good lol! Not happy about the pizza here or the rude works.

I called to place an order for pickup tonight. A pizza and salad. The restaurant claimed they didn’t have the order, upon my arrival. I confirmed the number I called, from my cell phone log. The establishment showed little remorse, nor did they offer anything to recover from the miss, not even a «we are so sorry this happened, let us put your order in now, and we will deliver to you ASAP». Nothing! They said I must have called another store, upstate. Like I said, I confirmed the number I dialed was the Newport store, by my log. I redialed it later, to confirm, in fact I had the right number. Not a biggie, we called the next one, and they had a delicious pie over in 40 minutes. In the end, this one gets 1 star, but would give 0 if that was an option.

Pizza is really really good! We love this place and it is our go to for pizza in newport! I would definitely call for deliver in the evenings because it can get a little crazy with the summer party crowd. The nutty Tuscan is the best pizza on the menu!

I can’t speak for their freshly made pizzas but their slices seem like they were made last month. Seriously. My mozzarella cheese did not stretch. The sauce was kinda bland and the crust could have been cooked a little bit more. It wasn’t a crazy dough. It was more like a sad dough. My guess is this pizza joint services two types of customers; tourists walking on Thames Street during the day, and drunken locals with the munchies stumbling back to their homes at night.

There are very limited pizza options in Newport. That being said, Crazy Dough is definitely the best. They have many gourmet style options, with flavors that sound so amazing. The pizza itself is delicious, and I would eat just the crust if it was offered. The store is very small, with only enough seating for a few people, but it has a great bar to sit at and watch Thames. I would imagine most of their buisness is take out/delivery or slices. Their slices are massive though and WAY better than any other pizza option! My only negative is that it is pretty overpriced. I understand it is «gourmet», but compared to the other pizza places this is significantly higher. Also, when ordering whole pizzas, you can only order 2 sizes… a large or a Scilian which is jumbo. We made the mistake of ordering 2 scilian for 4 people and were eating pizza the rest of the month. Also, their hours are a bit«by the weather», so you can’t always count on them for being open. That aside, definitely the best pizza that you will find in Newport.

Extremely tasty, a nice variety of flavor/topping combinations. The crust is fantastic. I make sure to stop in there each time I visit friends in Newport. When I crave pizza, Crazy Dough’s is what always comes to my mind first. The facilities are small and not meant for group dining. It’s just more of an order and go kind of place, with a few small tables and chairs. Beats the heck out of chain pizza restaurants.

I stopped in for pizza earlier today while in town on some work business. It was some sort of hawaiin but with pepperoni and a drizzle of something bbq like? A twist on hawaiin we will say. I really prefer thin crust pizza but I have been craving pineapple pizza like crazy lately so I decided to give this thick crust pizza a try. Honestly, I did not love it, mainly the crust. It was light and airy and just kind of an off texture for pizza. I am being generous here because I feel I may like their thin crust pizza slices better and the toppings were fine. Definitely time to nix that thick crust recipe though. After I was done, I was still craving real pizza, which this was not

After having survived a near death-by-pizza experience two weeks before at Via Via, we decided last weekend to give Crazy Dough’s a try. It is, in short, everything that Via Via is not. Most importantly, it’s edible. But in addition to that essential quality, the pizza at Crazy Dough’s is really very tasty: on the thin side, and a bit crispy after a quick spin in the oven. When you walk in, there is a bakery feel: a wide assortment of topping options await you, set behind a glass display case. If presentation means anything to you, this place trumps the other pizza joints in the neighborhood in that respect alone. We grabbed a couple of slices to eat on the go as we wove through the evening crowds forming on Thames Street. The first one was a meat lover’s dream, with pepperoni and hamburger. The other had chicken and pesto on it. I liked them both, a lot, but the pesto slice was my favorite by a slight margin. Let’s face it: pizza’s not a health food. If it was, most of the nation would look like SI swimsuit issue cover models. But this pizza doesn’t taste as though it will erode your stomach lining(to the extent that a certain«VV» down the road does). But this is worth a very occasional splurge, particularly after a few tipples at one of the local watering holes. And while I’m sure the late-late night scene rivals the little shop of horrors a couple of blocks away(in fact, one of the staffers assured me that 2am at Crazy Dough’s is no different), the quality of the food almost makes it worth playing dodgeball with drunkards. Almost. I, personally, will try to restrict my indulgences at Crazy Dough’s to before 10pm or the middle of January.

We needed a snack after a day at the mansions and before dinner which was a few hours away. Everytime we had walked by this place earlier in the weekend, we would say how good it smelled, so we decided to try it out. Apparently their«thing» is that their pizzas are grilled. They had a bunch of pizzas premade so you just choose your slices and they heat them up. I had a pulled pork slice and a margherita slice and they were both really good — crispy and crunchy. They had a bunch of different toppings but I was too full to try any others. I am not sure if this is a chain or not but I wish I had one near my home! Very good for a quick bite.

Visited Newport for the first time this past weekend and was craving some pizza. Being from CT, we have plenty of options with Pepe’s, Sally’s, Colony, etc., but this place looked to good to pass up. Decided on a Balsamic slice and Spinach/Artichoke slice. These were amazing. The pizza was very crunchy, fresh tasting and didn’t make me feel full afterwards. Liked it so much, we went back today before we left. Tried the Supreme and it was good. Nothing special about this piece, but it was really good. The pizza is really really good. I’d recommend trying the specialty pies instead of the common ones that you can find anywhere else.
