Stunningly rude shop assistant!!! In here yesterday and was all generally normal behavior. Today i was looking at shoes and asked a shop assistant who was folding clothes if they had then in my size. The response was word for word «you must see that im busy». …I was actually speechless for a few seconds which is unusual and then told her that the likelihood of buying anything here was below zero… or something similar.

Solid, but not revolutionary Vineyard Vines collection.
Long ago, I found the most amazing custom Vineyard Vines bowtie — a custom Block Island and whales pattern on sky blue that has been the jewel of my bowtie collection. Unfortunately, I only bought one, and I’ve spent the last three years fruitlessly searching for it’s partner. Imagine my anticipation when I made the trip out to Newport at this official Vineyard Vines retailer.
No dice.
Don’t get me wrong — the story was excellently outfitted with current season ensembles for both men and women, along with a reasonable necktie collection. Bowties? About ten. And all from the standard collection. What a disappointment. This is odd when compared to similar stores (North River Outfitter by MGH in Boston), which at least offer multiple Custom Collection ties including those of local colleges, the Red Sox, etc. Even the official Boston/​Prudential Vineyard Vines store stocks a healthy collection of Harvard ties. For such a nice Newport retailer, I expected more.
Otherwise, staff is very helpful, and the location is far enough down Thames Street as to make street parking a real possibility.

I love coming into Island Outfitters and always finding something new and amazing. There are great people working there and the owner of the store is very helpful and even more into making sure you have a great time at the store. Their new website also allows for online purchasing and some secret sales. Very cool! Check out the store today.
