Great selection of ice cream and taffy! The owners and employees are all very nice and helpful. They also make great coffee.

Lots of sweet treats. Tillamook Ice Cream is very good. Great service. However… cash only? For reals? They really deserve 3 and a half stars for that tomfoolery but I’m rounding up because today was a good day, and mom cooked breakfast with no hog.

When we asked where to get fudge this was where we were told to go. They were a bit busy and we had to wait a while before getting service at the candy counter, but the girl behind the counter was so friendly and helped us find more than what we were looking for. We caught sight of a worker in the back making chocolate covered bacon and decided to wait for that, too. It was worth it! Not only was it delicious, they gave is a free piece for our patience. It may not have the best selection on the coast, but we will definitely be back again next time we’re in Newport. The only downsides were the wait for service, which I understand because they were very busy but was still a bit annoying, and the small selection of fudge compared to the other sweets. What they had was excellent, but it was only the standard classics.

This place seemed to have changed hands since we were here a couple yrs ago, but the ice cream is still excellent, servings sizes are goo d. Love the Tillamook ice creams — coconut cream and other flavors were also excellent. Also had their coconut milk shake which was also yummy! Cappuccino is one of the most reasonable around town.

We liked this place for ice cream. Three brands and thus great choice! Dreyers, Umpqua, and Tillamook. Service was very friendly. Downsides are the strip mall location and no credit cards. The chocolate candy looked good.

40 different flavors of to choose from with even locally made Tillamook ice cream which is fantastic, I strongly recommend trying their Oregon Black Cherry !! The staff have a great attitude with a fun party like environment. They also offer many different flavors of salt water taffy and chocolates. They even offer chocolate covered bacon, for the end of the day at the beach this is a great spot to cool off !! Woohoo as good as it gets !

This store has always brought back good memories. The taffy is melt in your mouth and not as sticky as what you buy in a bag, but the flavors aren’t near as good as I remember. The only ones that carried their flavor were licorice and cinnamon(barely). Half of a bag is was $ 28.00. OUCH! Although, Dreyer’s ice cream is good, it’s made in California and sort of devalues the Oregon experience and since Newport Candy longer make their own, I stuck with the Tillamook brand.

The Tillamook Cookies and Cream in a cup was just fine. Nothing special. I can’t remember what the«salted seafoam» chocolate dessert item consisted of, but it was great!

very dissappointing the chocolate was very low quality. the taffy was mostly hard and small peices. they dont take credit or debit cards, but do have a «handy» ATM… for which they charge a nice fee. the prices are a total ripoff. go somewhere else… seriously

Cute store — lots of the requisite salt water taffy flavors, ice cream from Tillamook, Dreyers, and Umpqua — a wide choice of cones and dishes for ice cream. There are even cute toys in the window in case a diversion BESIDES sugar is called for… I’m guessing that a summer afternoon at the beach is perfect for this place — but a breezy spring afternoon isn’t bad… I went with Dreyer’s almond prailene(sp?) in a plain waffle cone. It’s a little overpriced(non-premium ice cream) for anywhere other than the beach, an amusement park, or a movie theater — but it is what it is.

Just a typical ice cream joint. Nothing special, they do not make their own ice cream but the service was fine.

We first decided to go because of previous reviews. It is no longer called Oregon Maid but instead is called Newport Candy’s Ice Cream Shop. They serve Dryers and Tillamook Ice cream along with taffy, carmel corn and fudge. The Tillamook Chocolate Mudslide was to die for. Everyone in our party of 6 had a delicious treat. We would return.

Excited to get some fresh pulled Oregon Coast saltwater taffy, we stopped at this store after our trip to the Aquarium. We found the proprietors less than friendly. First, they do not accept debit or credit cards(cash only), but there’s no signs stating this is their policy until you go to pay. The woman working behind the counter was short and curt with us and directed us to an ATM machine at the back of the store. If we hadn’t already picked out the product, placed it in bags, and had I not had children with me who were counting on this purchase, I would have cancelled the purchase, and left once the rudeness began. However, I sucked it up and used the ATM, paid for the goods and left the store. Once we got in the car, we discovered the candy was mostly old and dried up, and hardly worth all the grief we went through to get it. In future, we will find another store, possibly in another town to purchase our salt water taffy and other Oregon Coast souvenirs. I have had great luck finding fresh saltwater taffy in Seaside, Cannon Beach and Lincoln City. This was the first time I had attempted to buy it in Newport. My recommendation is that anyone searching for souvenirs or fresh candy on the Oregon coast, skip the Newport Candy’s experience… and keep driving. Clearly, these people don’t appreciate or respect their customers, and I am sure there are other stores up or down the coast that would. Save yourself a headache and buy some place else.

Great! The banana ice cream was so delicious that we took a quart back to Seattle. It tastes like real bananas and not artificial banana flavoring. This place is amazing. Get into it.

The Pirate’s Pleasure was my favorite! I also ordered the«adventure» of five small scoops and let them choose. All five flavors were great and it was just the perfect amount of ice cream. Very glad we stopped there on the way through town.

A flavor adventure! Housemade ice cream in exciting flavors like Mandarin Chocolate(a Grand Marnier flavor) and Pirate’s Pleasure(rum and coconut flavor ice cream with chunks of guava, papaya and pineapple). I recommend ordering an adventure of five small scoops in a cup. $ 3.50 if you let them choose! $ 4 if you choose the flavors. I enjoyed a cup with white licorice, pumpkin, cupid’s kiss(a peppermint variety), Pirate’s Pleasure, and wild cherry. Yum! The gent who makes the ice cream is charming and happy to talk about all the different flavors they’ve concocted. In fact, he explained Pirate’s Pleasure to me in a pirate voice. Awesome! Stopping in here made me smile.
