Those menus have seen better days! But I wasn’t there for the ambiance I was there for the muffin, yummy! My friends all had eggs and toast, the rye is thick and amazing! That’s a rare find. Overall we were pleased, except don’t order the on or grapefruit juice, I think it was only 10 percent actual juice! Looked like Hi C!

Two words: Don’t Go. The staff was oblivious to the fact that we’d been standing there for about 15 minutes waiting for a hostess to seat us.(and there were several open tables… not like they were jammed with customers). While waiting, we began to notice how filthy the floors were, and realized this place is just not run well at all. We left without eating and found the Corner Café(excellent breakfast, 5 stars) and today hit the The Franklin Spa which is also good.

Stopped by this weekend(rainy, dreary outside), so why not a great soup and sandwich? It didn’t work. Disinterested wait staff, crappy potato chips and an underwhelming performance by the Thanksgiving sandwich.

in the heart of Newport and looked inviting from the outside so we went in. Once inside, we noticed a dirty(floors covered in food crumbs) sticky diner with giant black flies buzzing around. As we sat down to look at the old sticky menu, I was surprised to see the average price was $ 11.95. that includes the burgers and the breakfast menu. I looked up at my wife and she said«should we go»? I said«Na» we are here lets just eat. As we ordered, I noticed two separate parties sit down look at the menu and within 5 minutes get up and walk right out. At no point did anyone working there stop them to say«hey whats wrong» or «what can I do to make you stay». The food was not great, but it was not bad. It was a combination of good and bad. Good home fries. bad«canned» corned beef hash. The bill for breakfast for me, my wife and 3 «childrens menu» kids with tip was $ 60.00. Until restaurant is cleaned and they pay attention to their patrons, I recommend NOT going to this restaurant. I would not go back

I wanted to give this place 4 stars but the wait staff were not up to par the morning we stopped by. This breakfast place is delicious and has an amazing bakery! Homemade muffins and pastries were very tempting! We sat right away on a busy Boat Show morning and their ice coffee to start was really good! Our waitress was kind of out if it and acted strangely when she arrived at the table… talking about how she needs a coffee as well. We ordered our food and it was delicious! I ordered the eggs benedict and it was amazing… I also got one slice of French Toast just to try it bc it sounded delicious… I can eat ALOT at breakfast for a small person haha! Now the reason I gave 3 stars is because once we got our food our waitress disappeared into thin air like a ghost! There wasn’t any syrup on the table so I asked another waitress since ours was no where to be found and this lady brought me sugar free… eww has a terrible after taste… Although I appreciate low carb during the week I wanted real syrup this day ;) I asked another waitress for the real syrup and she finally brought it. We were working the boat show and had to leave… another 30 mins go by and still our waitress was nowhere in site… finally we asked someone else to bring our check… another waitress came over took our plates and brought the check and apologized. She said our waitress had to LEAVE!!! Thanks for letting us know! lol oh and the prices are HIGH for breakfast here… anyways food was great we will be back… as long as there is plenty of syrup and waitresses ;)

Wow, is an understatement. Driving up early on Labor Day was not only a smart logistics move but ensured we arrived in time for Brunch at The Ocean Breeze Café. The café has won a number of awards and isn’t shy about it. I ordered the meat lovers omelette with an order of fully loaded home fries and was not disappointed. Our table split a blueberry muffin which was a nice touch on a tank filling brunch. The meal was well priced and I walked away with a smile on my face. Oh yeah, the OJ is top notch. –Boots

No. No. No. I’ve lived in Rhode Island my entire life. I don’t care where this place is, it is not worth the money. $ 11.95 for canned hash? You, want to see my blood-pressure raise really quickly? Try to feed me canned hash for $ 11.95. The waitress was a doddering old codger, who poured us dreadful coffee, forgot about one of our plates, did not bring napkins, and did not bring the check until I runway-technician-style flagged her down. I understand being busy, but being neglected, because she presumably thought we were young and therefore not going to tip well is intolerable. The entire kitchen staff seems a bit sleepy, as well. I ordered French Toast and it was, not exaggeration, little more than slightly egg-dampened bread. NO. I’d rather nip across to the Shell Station and get a microwavable breakfast burrito than risk eating here again.

Had a wonderful low carb wrap for breakfast. Had to take ½ home, it was so big. Service was excellent and waitress kept my coffee cup full. Terrific looking pastry case.

I must say im very upset to inform you that I’m not pleased at all with this business. No I haven’t tasted the food even though it’s something I would have LOVED to try. Seeing as though my niece is 15 and it was her first job. She absolutely Loved it !! But they take advantage of the teenagers my niece has been working since April 6th and has only received $ 4.00? How do you NOTPAY someone their work owed ??? I’m going to bash this place with so many hurtful things. Please if you go their make sure you pass the people their own tips it’s not fair !!

Super dirty and worn out, to the point where I was nervous about how dirty the actual kitchen was. I was scared to look. Food was average and over-priced for what it was.

Great muffins, known for their breakfast, stick with the standards. I made the mistake of getting a Lobster omelet. Buy lobster in a lobster place and stick with the great breakfast items here.

Food is ok, if overpriced. Service is inconsistant. But make sure you check your bill, they are overcharging for everything on the menu. Their excuse is that the owner raised the prices and the menus haven’t been updated. Come on, this has been going on for at least two months since I caught it, how muchwork is it to go through 20 or so menues with a pen, or run them off on the ink jet. The waitress will give you the excuse that they can’t change the price they charged you. It’s a bait & switch and probably illegal. Make sure you check your bill, and bring cash — half the time their credit card system isn’t working and they want to write down your card info for later processing — watch out.

Ocean Breeze Café was a place I would come to for breakfast on the regular when I lived in RI and visited Newport much more frequently than I do now. The food, service, and atmosphere were terrific. It was still good when we came this Sunday but not the same way it used to be. After having coffees at Coffee Grinder on Bannister’s Wharf earlier in the morning, we hoofed it to Ocean Breeze(quite a walk!) for breakfast. We arrived to a packed house and a half hour long wait. When we were seated it was chaotic inside and the waitress forgot a few of our drinks but brought them quickly after we reminded her. Also, I noticed that they had fresh squeezed orange juice on the menu but found out from the waitress they only have conventional oj these days. After another long wait for our food it finally arrived. It used to be that they would serve a slice of cantaloupe with every breakfast plate. I was hoping they’d still be doing this, but they did not. The corned beef hash is not made in house, so while I had my eye on the corned beef hash omelet initially, I opted for the Azorean omelet instead. The chourico was a little chewy but the omelet overall was delicious. Peppers, onions, and tomatos provided great flavor and texture and the egg layer of the omelet was an ideal thickness(I prefer it on the thinner side). Home fries tasted like they were loaded with butter and we were all addicted to them. Everyone at the table seemed to love their meals. The entire time there were people waiting for tables and also others just stopping in for coffees and/or baked goods our of their bakery cases. The cake balls looked so tempting we shared a peanut butter chocolate one while we were waiting. Later, I also purchased a red velvet one and a yellow cake with chocolate frosting one to have at home. Neither of them were as tasty as the peanut butter chocolate.

Chocolate chip pancakes and corned beef hash. Greek omelet was generous with tomatoes.

I have walked past this place many times while I lived in NPT and never ate there. I was in town last weekend and decided to finally try it. I wasn’t impressed. I have gotten coffee and muffins from here a zillion times and I have loved every bite. Breakfast food on the other hand is left to be desired. The service was good and we were seated right away. The overall atmosphere of the place though is gross. They really need to close the place down and do a deep cleaning. The food I thought was some what over priced. It was good, but you could taste the butter dripping off the potatoes. I’ll go back, but just for coffee and muffins.

Wow, every part of this breakfast was delicious! The coffee(recommended by our waitress) was superb. And seriously, when a cup of coffee sticks out as being this good, you know the rest of the meal followed suit. I also loved the parking. It’s so hard to find close, free parking anywhere in Newport. This is super easy and convenient. My only pet peeve was the price. Expensive. But I guess that’s how it goes in Newport, particularly in the summer time. Needless to say, I’ll be back for a visit the next time I’m hanging out in Newport.

Lets start out with«the muffins are great!» Everything else could use improvement. The food could be good, but the hollandaise was out of a can, and the potatoes were burnt and hard. The staff was great; friendly and accommodating.

Visiting Newport for the first time, we decided to go to a place that was easy to get to and didn’t have a large crowd. The parking here was very easy. The first thing after we were seated, we waited 10 minutes before someone came to wait on us. It is understandable if it were busy but only 4 tables had customers. When we were finally waited on, the waitress was nice. Here’s the second problem. My husband ordered a Nantucket nectar drink, they brought the drink and it was warm. No ice to chill it… The good: we waited for our clam chowder. It was delicious! It was creamy but light. I had high expectations for lunch after this. The bad: my husband ordered the lobsters Benedict and I order a lobster quesadilla. Bear in mind I have had lobster quesadillas before they were phenomenal(try side street café in bar harbor, me for a delicious one!). Their lobster was well over cooked and very chewy! It also was not very fresh. They used a cheese which did not go well with the lobster. My husbands lobster Benedict was not cooked well either, rather it was way over cooked as well. The eggs were cooked all the way through and the yolk did not«run». His lobster was also very chewy. He ate the food because he was hungry after our cliff walk stroll. Overall I’d stick with their bakery items and clam chowder.

One word… MUFFINS. Hey, do you enjoy Chocolate Chip muffins? Well, how about a Raspberry Chocolate Chip kind? Or, how about a Pistachio Chocolate Chip flavor that tastes exactly like Stella D’oro cookies in muffin form? To Chocolate Banana muffins to your basic Corn, they have a great selection that easily beats out any Dunkin Donuts or chains in the area. They don’t have a board for a list of their muffins as it seems like it changes daily, and they also don’t label their muffins in the case either but the staff is helpful in letting you know which is which. As far as sitting down for breakfast, I think it’s Ocean Breeze’s downside. It’s not that it’s bad food, but it’s just not worth the price you pay. I don’t really know how they can command«Newport prices» with it being so far away from the main downtown stretch. Honestly, I would rather head over to the other breakfast places in the area, namely Gary’s Handy Lunch that serves mostly the same food but is much cheaper. Moral of the story: Come here. Eat muffins. Enjoy!
