Horrible food and worse service ever. Was a group of 6 adults and one child…1st ppl in restaurant… everyone got a bread basket first and we had to ask for one 20min after ordering. Mussells came out with empty shells… child spaghetti came out and red sauce 10 min after… was dry n stuck together… all appetizer n soup came late and all entres late… while all the tables around us got their food already paid n left. Swordfish was weird texture… lamb was raw and all fat… sashimi was yellow for white tuna n had bad after taste… all the food was questionable leaving us all with stomach aches

I didn’t try the food, but we stopped in for drinks before dinner elsewhere. I liked the décor– it was modern and artsy, with a nice ambience. I was surprised to see that it was almost empty a bit before 8pm on a Saturday night.
I immediately realized that they have very few wines. There wasn’t even a wine list to look at(unless the bartender didn’t know or didn’t want to grab it– she said there wasn’t one because there were so few options). The only cabernet option was a house cab, and it was terrible(it tasted almost syrup-y and sweet, which a cabernet should never). It was served in a white wine glass, and the glass was dirty.
While the bartender was pleasant enough, she spent most of the time chatting with a group of three people who were obviously her friends, about some boyfriend who was going to take her somewhere soon. However, it is worth noting that the couple next to us ordered a charcuterie platter, and it looked really good. I also visited the restroom, and it was clean and pleasantly decorated. Addition: I walked by this place the next morning, and it was much busier than the night before. Perhaps it’s more of a brunch location? The doors were open so there was outdoor seating and indoor/outdoor seating(when you’re inside but the whole wall is open), and it did look nice.

I have lived in NPT for about 8 years over all. Two 4 year stunts! I have also wanted to go to Asterisks. ALWAYS. I heard so many wonderful things about Asterisks. The martinis are delicious and the food was great. You used to not be able to get in, and the line was out the door! Well, that wasn’t the case this past weekend. Once I realized it was restaurant week in NPT, I thought it was best to make a reservation. We easily got one. In fact, we were the only reservation on a Friday night. Ok, I’ll give them that it isn’t exactly peak season yet! We walked in, and the place was DEAD. Only one other day, and 3 or 4 people at the bar :(We sat down and decided to try it out! I ordered a“75″ French. It was ok. We also ordered a basil infused martini, which was really good. The waiter was friendly and nice. The bread was soooo stale. Yuck. We ordered off the restaurant week menu as well as the regular menu. There were many things that looked amazing. I ends up ordering some indian fried dough balls with a cucumber sauce. The were ok. A iceberg wedge salad and a plate of meats. The food was ok. But nothing stealer. The fiancé got the restaurant week menu, a flatbread — which was good — SHRIMP + FLATBREAD with a white bean pure. And COD smoked potatoe chowder, bacon + clams. It looked good. Also, the LEMONPUDDINGCAKE thyme syrup + raspberries — which was really surprising. I was sad they didn’t have any chocolate desserts — one reason I didn’t order from the RW menu. It would have been much better, but the place was dead. It is up in the air if we will go back.

I came here for Valentine’s Day based on a sweet deal coupon, read the reviews and got the crispy salmon based on the responses. I was very impressed with the red wine broth and risotto. The Donut Crème brûlée was creative and tasty. The only downfalls were that we were put at a table near the coats in the corner but we were asked if that was okay. Also, we had to ask for some bread but the waitress made up for it with her bubbly personality. Overall we will be returning… just hope that they have riesling on the wine menu next time!

I can’t get enough of the new menu. The pizza is off the wall. Personal pizza but I had plenty to bring home for the next day. The bar tenders shake up a mean cocktail and service is steady. Has a different feel then most of the other restaurants with a very open dinning room and comfortable seating. One of my favorites

My girlfriend and I have been to Asterisk several times over the past few years, and it had always been very good — great food, broad menu, nice atmosphere, etc. I had even been there on a previous New Year’s Eve for dinner with groups of friends and had a pleasant experience. However, we went back for New Year’s Eve dinner this year, and the service was awful. The hostess was extremely rude from the get-go, and the waiter — while polite — was clearly rushing us the entire time. This was all despite the place not being crowded at all! There were several open tables the entire hour we were there, and there didn’t appear to be any walk-ins waiting for a table, so there was absolutely no reason for the staff to rush us and act this way — particularly because we are return customers, were punctual, and ordered over $ 100 worth of food and drink for two people. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this restaurant, nor recommending it to any friends.

We made reservations for 14 and were the only table in the place… food forgotten, seafood not fresh, management clueless, waited two hours for entrees and had to argue about validity of service. Just sad performance and waste of our time.

My boyfriend and I stopped by Friday night after dinner for a drink(4th of July weekend). The espresso martini is amazing and I’m so glad we skipped dessert and ordered the martini instead. The space is really cool as it was an old garage and the doors are still as is. The food that was being brought to tables next to us looked so good and smelled yummy. The atmosphere was also really cool and we both enjoyed it. Can’t wait to go back for dinner!

Asterisk tries hard. The martinis are excellent, and the bartender is top notch. The waiter, a recent graduate from Salve Regina, could not have been nicer. The food was good — and bad. The iceberg lettuce with maytag blue was warm, and wilted. The dressing was warm. too. The lobster and shrimp fritter appetizer was too doughy. The short rib ravioli appetizer had flavor, but was drowning in cream and had large chunks of chopped tomatoes on top. It also had a bit of strange curry flavor. The swordfish was good, as was the crispy salmon but orzo accompanying the salmon was cold and the texture was a bit odd. The lambchops were extremely small and very very fatty. Asparagus was crunchy. The menu is supposed to be fresh, farm to table, but definitely needs improvement.

Best salmon I’ve ever had, hands down! Get the Crispy salmon and you wont regret it. Perfectly cooked salmon on a bed of creamy mushroom asparagus orzo risotto with a river of cabernet sauce. SO. YUMMY. The boy has taken me here twice and between the two of us we have tired the crispy salmon, Belgian Drunken Beef and Char-crusted Sirloin Steak. Everything has always been good and our services has always been good! I am confused why this place got bad ratings… but hey that just means more salmon for me!

Food is good, drinks are good, service from the kitchen is slow. That is my only knock and it’s not a dealbreaker by any means. You can tell by the quality of the food and presentation that they are taking the time to do it correctly. My wife had the Crispy Salmon and that was fantastic. I enjoyed that dish more than the Drunken Beef that I had, although it was good too. The Key Lime Pie might be the best that I’ve ever had. It is amazing.

We showed up 30 minutes early for a dinner reservation on a Saturday night. They were able to accommodate us right away and we had first choice of the seating outside. Drinks, food and service were all great. * Calamari app was perfectly cooked but portioned on the small size. * Seafood pizza was OK. Mussels were fishy and the shrimp were tiny but it filled me up and I suffered no gastric consequences. * Cocktails were a highlight. Basil Lime Gimlet was so refreshing and smooth while the French 75 was just as delightful. * There were too many specials to keep track of and I felt they should have printed up a menu to properly peruse those options. The ambiance is great and on a breezy summer evening, there’s nothing better than sitting outside and watching passersby on the quieter end of Thames Street while sipping a cocktail.

I had high hopes for a pleasant meal at Asterisk. For a Sunday night, the service was absolutely atrocious. The waitress was exremely rude. One of my companions asked for a different vegetable with his entrée. Instead of immediately offering to check with the kitchen regarding alternate availability, she swiftly told us their would be an up-charge for a different side(instead of listening to the medical reason he was unable to consume spinach: kidney stones) I was shocked that she brought out my entrée before one of the other people at my table was finished with her appetizer. Then she proceeded to bring out my second companion’s entrée while my first companion was STILL eating her appetizer(isn’t bringing out all entrees at the same time waitressing 101?) I found her demeanor to be unacceptable, especially since we were the only table she was serving. The food was decent. To start I had the Blue Point oysters. They were good, not as briny as I would have liked. I also sampled the osso buco ravioli and crème brûlée. The ravioli were savory, yet had a little too much salt. The crème brûlée was rich and tasty, yet the portion was too large for one person to consume. I would be willing to give Asterisk another try, after seeing other favorable reviews. To the waitress: «don’t be so smart, and educate yourself about what frites are»
