Went with friends and had the best meal. Had mussels marinara and it was by far the best I ever had. John the bartender was so smart and friendly. We thought he was the owner. I totally recommend going there and if you have a beer, ask for a shot of aperol in it. This was John’s suggestion and it was so good! Bön appetite!

Best seafood place around. Started valentines night with a nice toast of champagne, on the house, a nice little touch on a night like Valentine’s Day. As an app we chose the lobster raviolis which were delicious! No filling or puffy extract these ravioli were just pasta and fresh chunk lobster. Next up were a plate of oysters, I’m a huge fan of oysters and frequently like trying new types. These ones were from Chesapeake Bay Area in James River, VA I think they were very good clean oysters, although they didn’t have a brine or sea taste similar to most RI oysters. As our main course I decided with one of the night’s specials, mussels frites and my girlfriend decided on the shrimp scampi. These garlic and thyme infused mussels were unbelievable and the broth at the end of the plate could’ve been my favorite aspect of the entire dish. My girlfriend did LOVE her shrimp scampi, and when she couldn’t finish… I took eating the last three shrimp as my duty and I’m happy I did. Delicious. 5 stars. Check it out.

I have been in Newport for 46 years 2:28 minute wait Table for 6 and we had 9 Apologies don’t matter I will never return and quite honestly I have been there many times, the food was never worth the price! Great spot but very disheartening experience for loyal customers.

I began my obsession with linguine & clams at Scales & Shells over 20 years ago. This is the dish that I compare all others to and it always delivers a FANTASTIC meal. On this last visit, it was quite busy and we were fortunate to grab 2 open seats at the raw bar. The service was excellent and we left with full bellies. While I have never veered from L&C, my friend ordered the skate special and said it was one of the best fish dishes she’s ever had! Can’t wait to go back!

S&S took great care of us even though it was a really busy July 4 weekend. We had a late dinner here and the wait was over an hour, however we were patient and actually were seated within 20 minutes, which wasn’t bad at all. The only problem was that they ran out of drink glasses because everyone waiting ordered a drink at the bar while they waited. This meant that we didn’t get cocktails when we first sat down, but we got a comped beer mid meal and it was absolutely fine. Food was served really fresh and fast. S&S has an open kitchen concept and you can see the crew cooking live. We had the calamari(best ever, great tender consistency and crisp exterior), grilled shrimp(really tasty and my fiancée loved it), and the lobster fra diavolo for 2 over linguini. I’m a big eater and we were unable to finish the seafood pasta. It’s the thing to order so go for it. They do a good job here and the service is super friendly. Give it a try if you’re in the area.

Jan 22016, drove 45 min from Massachusetts with another couple that frequently dines out in Newport. I’ve been here several times and have enjoyed it each time, was looking forward to going with our friends who have yet to try this restaurant. Saturday night, 8pm pull up in front of the restaurant, only to find it pitch dark, with signs taped to the windows saying«closed for the holidays, see you next year»…well it is next year now, so when do you reopen? Nothing on Facebook or their website saying they are closed. In fact website said«open this evening from 5pm-10pm»…ended up at another restaurant nearby. Just think it would be common courtesy to let people know that your closed. Not everyone is coming from nearby, Newport is a destination for dining, nightlife, etc…
