Not a good spot. Had the worst experience ever here. I’m a regular to Newport and there are much better spots out there.

Meh– Parking is not worth the 30 $ when 25ft down the road there is parking for 15 $… we’ll service started out by loosing the reservation which would have been fine if it wasn’t our anniversary(which made me look stupid in front of my wife) Once we finally sat, it was like a game of who’s who? Who the waiter who’s going to take out order, who even works here. After 20 min of waiting our order was finally taken. We started off with calamari which was good if we wanted three pieces on a plate. Now the main course was good, we had the Surf and Turf which was a filet, lobster and king crap on mashed potatoes and garlic asparagus. Main course was cooked well. Nothing too extraordinary but the food was good. However for 65 $ I would have added a little more good to the main dish it looked a bit cheap.

This is Christies 2.0, long gone is the waterfront restaurant that was a Newport staple for years, replaced by a shadow of itself. Food was fine, but you can get fine anywhere. Waitstaff was really good, bartender was not so good, more interested in staring at their phone than anything else. The old Christies set the bar so high, that Christies 2.0, gets exactly that 2 stars…

I have fond memories of the delicious and hearty clam chowder here as a child. However, Christie’s is no longer the same since the change in either management or ownership. The chowder was absolutely nothing to write home about or even buy from a supermarket. The more trendy and pretentious this place got, the worse the food became. Even the overpriced lobster Mac ‘N Cheese wasn’t good. Very disappointing.

Came here on a trip to Newport for drinks and dinner. Very cool place with awesome décor that gives it an old vibe while being extremely modern. Our table had swinging chairs that hung form the ceiling and a huge picture of marilyn monroe on the wall. It was a very upbeat vibe with lots of people having a good time. Overall the vibe was awesome and so was the place. Now the food? Not so awesome… I had the fried chicken and waffles and it was not very impressive at all. The chicken was coated in dough and overall just didn’t taste like it was very high quality meat. The waffle was decent, but nothing special at all. We also had coconut shrimp for appetizer which was better than the main course but nothing mind blowing. Overall the food was definitely a bit disappointing. We stayed for a while and had drinks at the bar area which was a lot of fun. Good music and a fun crowd. This is definitely a great place to have drinks and make a night of it, but definitely not somewhere I would recommend for dinner. Four stars for the nightlife and three stars for the food.

I don’t know… this place is kind of weird… Feels like they’re going for a NYC vibe, I guess I’m just used to classic Newport and wasn’t expecting the atmosphere at Christie’s. I read Unilocal reviews before we went and was expecting more restaurant, less bar/club vibe which was not at all the case. We did go a bit later(845−9pm) on a Saturday night in March, so quiet/off-season is to be expected, but we were one of three tables and and by the time we finished, we were the last table. It was dark and a DJ w/light show was setting up while we were eating. Manager did ask if we wanted the DJ to turn his music down so that was appreciated. Waitress was fine. Food: Clam chowder was good, lots of clams. I had fish tacos. Could have made them better @ home… Ortega taco shells, swear to god. Boyfriend had the steak over french fries. Cooked well, he enjoyed it. He did feel that the food was incongruent to the atmosphere, felt it should have more«umph» than just a steak served over french fries. Oh, they charge $ 1.00 for water ’cause it’s filtered/served in recycled wine bottles… Basically we’re kicking ourselves for not going with our original plan which was to go to Scales and Shells, but when we drove by there, all the tables were occupied(well, duh, ’cause their food is bangin’). So, skip it. Lots of better restaurants in the area to chose from and if there’s a wait at a restaurant, that’s probably where you want to be(at least in the off season).

*BARREVIEWONLY* There should be more places like this! Stopped here during a glorious summer day with some gal pals. We were dying for some brunch-time cocktails, and while walking we saw a Christie’s sign on the road advertising«Bacon Bloody Marys.» Done and done! The hostess told us that it wouldn’t be a problem to just grab some cocktails, sat us outside, and got us some water. The drinks menu was LUSCIOUS and it gave us a challenge in deciding what to order! I went for a «Cantaloupe Crush» cocktail with muddled cantaloupe, cilantro, and assorted boozy goodness. My companions of course ordered the Bacon Bloody Marys. The quiet side street allowed us to rest our heels and chat for a few minutes while our cocktails were made. They were delicious! My Cantaloupe Crush was light, extremely fresh, well chilled, and the cliantro gave it an intangible herby kick. Really refreshing — I could’ve had WAY more than one. Haha. The Bacon Bloody Marys were also out of this world, complete witha bacon garnish and a bacon salt rim. Can you ask for anything better? They also had the right amount of heat and spices, and were the stuff brunches are made of. Would love to come back for more cocktails and to try some of their scrumptious looking food. Pleasant staff, pleasant location, awesome cocktails. Worth a check out for sure!

Come on and safari with me… Stepping into Christie’s in the summer feels a bit like walking into a Beach Boys song come to life. Murals of vintage bathing beauties on the wall immediately get you into the old-time summer mood. The décor is a mix of «mod» and modern. And the location, right on Christie’s Wharf nestled in between Forty 1 North and Rhino Bar, is the perfect setting to grab a dependably enjoyable meal: one that isn’t as back-breakingly expensive as Forty 1 North, nor as subterranean and isolating as Rhino Bar. Christie’s offers al fresco dining in nice weather. It’s only the tiniest waterfront view as the restaurant is set back from the marina that Forty 1 North commands, but it’s good for people watching. Larger parties are better off sitting indoors, where more plentiful seating abounds. The staff at Christie’s are friendly and accommodating. Last Friday my boyfriend and I arrived with only 45 minutes to grab a quick dinner before a show. We were immediately greeted by the manager, Kat, and seated at a table outside. Our server deftly handled our orders and made sure we received our bill in time; our schedule was accommodated and we didn’t feel rushed in the least. I’ve had many dishes over the course of several visits here, including a wonderful beet and gorgonzola salad, the Christie’s burger, macaroni and cheese, fresh seafood entrees(the tilapia — wow), as well as the calamari appetizer. The food is very good, across the board. If you are on Christie’s Wharf and looking for a great dinner that won’t break the bank but is a quintessentially«Newport» experience, look no further than Christie’s.

Came here last weekend for a couple drinks. I haven’t been here since the remodeling, and I love it. I think it might be trying to be more of a night club than it is, considering we were there on a Saturday night and the outdoor patio was pretty packed, and the downstairs ‘club’ area went from almost empty to 25% full at various points throughout the night. I’m from NY where the bars don’t close, so I find it useless to try to go to a night club in Newport where last call is at 1245am… Was that snobby? Anyways, I loved the outdoor bar, and the fact that Christie’s had 4 bathrooms to choose from(biiiig plus). I’m not sure if it was Svedka promotion night, but the drinks were awesome and strong! Thanks, Bill. Oh, and you’re going to find the super, trashy wasted stumblers for sure — but it seems like Newport nightlife lends itself to that sort of behavior. All in all, I’ll definitely be back, had a great time and the bar on the porch was exactly what I was looking for that night.

Take an old, seasoned port building, add a whole lotta funk and a pinch of quirkiness with dash of elegance, and you have the atmosphere of Christie’s. It’s super sleek and modern without feeling out of place on Thames St, which is a feat. It’s beautiful, hip, and I gotta say… I like it. While Christie’s is certainly popular for dinner and drinks, I have frequented this spot on several occasions for lunch, and would recommend it to anyone. There is a definite Asian theme to them menu, but it has something for everyone. There are definitely some fab items to dive into, like the Lobster Club. Ummm… yes. Yes and yes. While the Pad Thai wasn’t my favorite, I ate the whole plate(which wasn’t a small portion, kids). The Asian Salad and Crispy Calamari were super-fresh decent and enjoyed by all. All in all, it ain’t knock-your-socks-off grub, but I keep coming back to Christie’s and I never leave displeased. The servers are friendly, the atmosphere lively and fresh, and the food is tasty. Three stars it is!
