By far the best ran shop in the levee. They are always running great deals and have an excellent selection of items. I was able to get a nice tank top for my date during riverfest and it was fairly priced and received excellent customer service, despite the fact they were very busy. I love their selection of hookahs and shisha!!!

It was an amazingly Rude customer service experience at their best of attitude at Newport store today when I returned my purchase and their shop workers made insulting gestures as I was walking out the store. I even returned the other purchase at Florence store as well. I almost spent over $ 80.00 at both locations, but it was clearly proven they do NOT deserve my patronage, and I wouldn’t spend even a penny here ever again. Sorry to know that that the bad, unpractical, unprofessional customer service and business ethic practiced by the store employees made the owner lost her sales that would have paid for one of her employee’s one day wage worth. Perhaps the business owner is having these few stores just for some hobby with no serious intent then its understandable these lame customer service attitude is like their business practice standard. No star given if optioned.

Such a cool place. I work at the hookah lounge up the street and always stop by before I open to check out anything new here. I’ve bought shisha from here, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful!

Great store located near the parking validation kiosk and near the movie ticket purchase area. Upon walking into the store, you will notice the myriad smells of incense, candles, essential oils, and other«earthy» feel good odors. There are gifts for everyone, even iPhone cases, those silly visors with fake hair out the top, and even hookahs! The prices were reasonable and comparable to other mother earth kinda stores in the area. There were also fair trade items and a clearance section in the back near the fitting rooms. My girlfriend noticed the smudge sticks and explained Native American smudging. Read about it here: Cool stuff. Anyways, I wish this store continued success as a number of stores in the Levee have come and gone with little fanfare or notice. So, if you are in the market from anything to wonderful smelling incense to hookahs, or maybe some really unique gift or decoration, check out Tala’s.

Tala’s Distant Treasures is a cute little store outside in Newport on the Levee. The store has handcrafted imports and furniture. See Cathy R.‘s review for more specifics. I liked the jewelry and handbags that they have. The home décor items are really unique and eclectic. However, the store was somewhat chaotic as it also has knick knack items that seemed to be made in china strewn about the place. I also enjoyed the large collection of really pretty wooden boxes. There was lots of extra small storage boxes/furniture with cute little drawers for storage in them compiled into one corner. None of the products gave any inclination of being fair trade which was disappointing. Also because the prices were very reasonable. I’d feel much better shopping at ten thousand villages because I know the artists in other countries are paid fairly.

This great shop sells jewelry, handbags and home décor items handcrafted in places like India, Pakistan and Peru. I liked so many things it was difficult to choose, but I finally decided on a brightly colored tote from India as a gift for my mom and a pair of shell earrings for myself. The employees were very knowledgeable about the products and their origins. I thought the prices were very fair and I’ll be back to shop again!
