We popped in on a Monday night for Restaurant week. It’s quite a fancy place, so we didn’t know what to expect. The hostess helped — she was a pretentious princess. However, luckily, our server as really nice, so we left the hostess to be unhappy and full of herself up front. We ate: –12 oysters: small, not too salty, not much taste –Bottle wine: montes classic series cab: nicely flavored –Spiced pumpkin soup: really well flavored, great consistency –Free Bread: not impressive(interesting bread can really help — not sure why they toss out boring stuff) –Sirloin: pretty good, w kale and a nice block of scalloped potatoes –Golden Beet risotto: well done, but not super impressive –Key lime dessert: flaky w sweet lime: really nice –Chocolate chip cookie dough soufflé: really excited for it and totally disappointed — not at all like chocolate chip cookie dough, very egg-y, like runny flan. –Chocolate éclair: nicely done Overall enjoyed our food quite a bit. For the price we paid, we were quite happy. Not sure how different it would be if not restaurant week — if it would be worth it. But we were happy

Thought it was a bit over rated for breakfast. Ambiance is wonderful and views definitely can’t be beat. The Lobster Hash was delicious but the French Toast was far too sweet. Service was great though and very attentive. Maybe lunch or dinner would be better time to go? I would go back but just not for breakfast.

One of the best dinners I’ve ever had! Spent the weekend in Newport for an anniversary and booked a late night dinner at Castle Hill Inn — to our surprise, it was restaurant week as well! Upon our arrival 30 minutes before our reservation, my girlfriend and I enjoyed some interesting cocktails(a hot spiced wine and cranberry vodka apple cider) on the enclosed porch-outdoor bar. The cocktails were unique and delicious! When it was time for our reservation, we were sat immediately and greeted with two glasses of champagne from the restaurant to our surprise. Which was fantastic! We partook in the restaurant week menu as well as ordering a bottle of Silver Palm Cabernet. For an appetizer, I had the root vegetable fondue, which was delicious — had a perfectly flakey cake onto which the vegetables and cheese were sat upon. My girlfriend had the glazed pork belly which was equally delicious. For entrees, I don’t remember what my girlfriend had because I was so enamored with my amazing dinner of the New York Sirloin cooked to perfection. Following dinner, we both had the chocolate éclair which was the perfect way to finish the meal. Between each of the courses, the restaurant was kind enough to bring complimentary tasting dishes — a lump of fresh crab meat over fresh melon wrapped in celery, as well as a delicious pumpkin-custard like dish. Both were fantastic. I will be returning to the Dining Room at Castle Hill Inn annually because of such a fantastic experience. Thanks to all the staff!

Breathtaking views greet you and provide a great backdrop for any meal. We ate an amazing lunch here on Saturday during restaurant week. We started with beet salad, new England clam chowder, and spiced apple soup. Everything was delicious. The chowder was a good competitor for the best we’ve ever had. Next, we had turkey sandwiches, a lobster roll, and cheeseburger. Everything was excellent, except the fries which were slightly soggy. My lobster roll was especially delish with huge lumps of claw meat!!! Finally, desserts were very good as well… apple tart and cheesecake parfait. Yum. Beautiful lunch and a lovely drive along the ocean to get here… a must while visiting newport.

This is the only place off of Ocean Drive that has a proper restaurant. Food is excellent. Got the lobster rolls one time and were excellent. Also ordered the chicken sandwich and it was probably the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever eaten. Definitely worth a visit. The views are breathtaking. A bit pricey but worth every cent.

I took myself out for a date in Newport, and I am sure I made the absolute correct choice in deciding to eat here. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was on point, and the scenery is DIVINE. I was seated in their sunny dining room in a table that overlooks the water. I was offered drinks, and given the New York Times. Being a coffee addict, I ordered coffee, and they brought me my own French press. It was wonderful coffee with no bitterness. Next I ordered the clam chowder, and the frisee salad. I’ve read reviews that people were disappointed with the amount of clam in the soup… I could not have pulled more clams out of it if I’d been clamming in a bay… It was fantastic. The salad was EXCELLENT. I can’t remember all of the ingredients, but it had duck, fruit, and a fried cheese over spinach and some other edible green. After lunch I took a stroll around the grounds. The views are dreamy. I spoke to some people in the dining room and outside on the lawn who were enjoying their wine… They’d been coming here their entire lives. I know exactly why… This place is truly a gem.

Sun set dinner here is a must, romantic and beautiful. We had the clam chowder and tuna tartar as starters, it was good but not spectacular. The clam bake entrée was delicious, I would order that again. A little expensive, but the view, the romance and the clam bake(with lobster) was worth the money.

Met up with some old friends at this beautiful restaurant last week. Our server Kayla was very courteous and on the spot with lunch and drink recommendations. I had the grilled romaine salad which was delicious along with the fish tacos(equally delicious), while my wife really enjoyed her lobster gumbo. The view and outstanding service alone were worth coming back but the food was tremendous as well! See you soon Castle Hill!

Wonderful view and would be a nice place for drinks, but very mediocre food for a restaurant of this level. Anything from bread and butter to entrees could be improved. Was out of stock on some wine options and has rather inexperienced servers. A Relais & Château property should do much better than that.

We had the six course tasting menu with the paired wine. Food and service was top notch. Wines, while good, were not as spot on as I would have liked, but did not detract from the meal. Maybe it’s just me being a wine geek. Great view of the sunset, pretty room, wonderful place for a special ocaasion.

Today was my 9th Wedding Anniversary… this was our 5th trip to Castle Hill to celebrate. Our waiter for the last 4 years has gone… and tonight’s meal was not as memorable. The waitress forgot to bring our dessert drink pairing and did not write down the list of wine with my meal. However, we still had a great time and look forward to next year!

The service was excellent. The ocean view is spectacular! I had the clam chowder which was good. I would have liked more clams in it. The fluke and lobster was good. I only got half a lobster tail. For the price, I should have received a full lobster tail. But it was a nice experience.

I’ve been dining at Castle Hill for about 6 years now, and it only gets better with time. Although some of my menu favorites have been phased out over the years, they have been replaced with other fantastic dishes. I prefer lunch and brunch because the food is fantastic and the prices are more reasonable than dinner. Brunch is only served on Sundays, but at a bonus with your meal you get to enjoy some fabulous live jazz music. There’s plenty of outdoor seating with panoramic views, but even on rainy days, the indoor dining room has plenty of windows with views of the bay. The food is consistently wonderful. I haven’t had a single disappointing meal here in 6 years. I’ve dined on everything from steamed mussels and poached lobster to eggs Benedict and fish sandwiches. The cheese plates are fantastic as well, and change regularly. The only less than stellar experience at Castle Hill has been with the desserts I tried recently. The lemon meringue and s’mores parfait were both intended for single servings, but were incredibly sweet, especially the s’mores one. I shared them both with my sister, and we couldn’t polish off the s’mores one at all. With that said, Castle Hill still gets 5 stars for 6 years of incredible meals. A couple overly sweet desserts are not enough to deter me from visiting, but it’s just something to keep in mind :)

This was the best dinning experience I had in Newport. My daughter and I ate on the patio and sunset. Spectacular view and the food was excellent. We had a salad scallops fish lobster oysters corn and dill potato wedges. All delicious and the view just added to the experience

Hands down this was one of three BEST restaurant experiences in my lifetime, and the other two were the famed French Laundry in Yountville, CA and the Metropolitan Club in Manhattan. Like those other two places, the service at Castle Hill Inn’s dining room was impeccable! It was warm, efficient, polite and spotless, without any feeling the wait staff was hovering! We went for Newport Restaurant Week, with $ 35 three-course fixed price dinners, in addition to excellent $ 35 bottles of wine. We chose the Laguna Chardonnay from Russian River, CA is it was outstanding. We also ordered an additional appetizer of 6 big shrimp with three dipping sauces: avocado; pineapple and Bloody Mary. All were sensational! For the prix-fixe appetizers we had the Lobster Corn chowder and the mussels. Wow! Entrees were Roasted Salmon and Roast Chicken in Wild Rice Gravy! We could have licked the plates, had it been polite. Again, WOW!!! Desserts were the Cheesecake Parfait(so clever and tasty) and a Chocolate Financier Bar. Just excellent, all around, but I say the Cheesecake Parfait was the winner! The atmosphere is the small wooden dining room with fire place and ocean view was simply stunning! We cannot wait to go back, and dine outside in the summer! Five Stars, no question about it!

Wow! Just had New Years Eve dinner at Inn At Castle Hill. To call this«cooking» is an insult. This was art. First course was smoked sturgeon. Presentation was nothing short of amazing. Colors and taste beyond words. Second course was pork belly. Served with asparagus custard and citrus accents. Third course was quail. Served over bok choy with mushroom and sweet breads. Main course was bonded filet and veal with mini Brussels sprouts and layered potatoe and onion topped with cheese. Every bite was pure joy from beginning to end. Our server Dan was exceptional. In fact the entire wait staff was excellent. Made us feel like we were the only customers in the place. This isn’t «cooking». This is genius. My only regret is that I am not sophisticated enough in my descriptions of this unforgettable meal. This meal including my generous and well deserved gratuity was about $ 300. If they doubled the price I would pay it. It was worth every nickel for this unprecedented culinary experience. I was truly awestruck.
