The UPS Driver pulled a top of our Driveway, which also happens to be a hotspot where Fishermen like to park to travel down to the waterway to fish. I heard the Truck pull up and immediately headed to the top of the driveway so he would not have to trek down. I get half way up our driveway, and there he is «Throwing» my packages out of his window as though they were nothing… AND then pulled out immediately … Anyone could have taken off with those packages had I not been home. AND I did not Appreciate the manner in which my packages were treated. From now on… I pick them up at the UPS Store. Ridiculous !!! No these were not Christmas packages.

Having to use this place for dry ice shipping pretty much ruined my day. First of all, they opened late, and the old white local man working the counter only decided to open when he saw some old white local man he knew who wanted to send a package. He decided to let him go first, even though I had been waiting for 15 minutes outside, while I struggled to bring my boxes inside without the help of the dolly he had behind the counter. They had a nice long conversation, because clearly my time didn’t mean anything. Then, when it came to processing my order(which was a substantial amount of money — heavy boxes overnight to the east coast) he was very rude. Not only did he snap at me instead of asking for things politely(example: «If you’d move your arm I could get a weight on this package for you» instead of politely asking me to move my hand, since he had been sitting there ignoring me for 5 minutes and staring at his screen, and I had no idea he was weighing anything), he also made a lot of assumptions about what I wanted and filled them in instead of asking me. The result was that I had to double check things with him that he was supposed to be checking with me, and that made him even crankier. Furthermore, he claimed they didn’t have any discounts(AAA, etc) and put everything through without ordering e-mail tracking, which is standard on my account. As a consequence, I had to find an internet connection while traveling to try to communicate information about arrival time back to my lab. I found Newport to be a lovely place with great people, but the jerk who works the counter here embodied all of the close-minded yokel mentality that I was warned about when heading in to rural Oregon. If you can manage to avoid this place(as I had no choice), then run, run and go somewhere with decent, civil human beings.
