Great coffee and atmosphere. This is one of those places you go to sip a good cup of coffee and read a book. The service is friendly, but not fast. So if you’re in a rush, this place probably isn’t your cup of tea.

It’s so nice to finally have a truly excellent café in the neighborhood. We go to Fleck at least once a weekend. The espresso drinks are as good as any we’ve had, and it’s practically in our backyard. Hopefully Fleck will be a mainstay in the neighborhood for years to come.

This place never disappoints… especially when you’re waiting for the #59 Needham-bound bus in the cold weather. It’s right at the stop. The coffees are dark, intense and flavorful… plus they have some great chocolate bars too.

So, I have visited this Coffee shop by default a few times simply because it’s there, as I wait for my corporate work shuttle. I’m a tea drinker, not a coffee drinker which should not matter. However, my observation/complaint with this place is the blatant arrogance, rudeness and disingenuous attitude of the owner(heavy set guy w/beard). Also, the lack of diversity of his staff, which is another story in and of itself. I have had several unwarranted«smart-ass» remarks as a response to questions regarding his offerings, which seems to offend him in some way. BTW: THISPLACEISQUITESMALLONMANYLEVELSINCLUDINGITSPRODUCTLINES. NOTQUITEANESTABLISHMENTSUCHASTHETHINKINGCUPINBOSTONPROPERWHICHITCOULDSURELYLEARN. Continually, my last negative encounter with the owner was simply ignited by the question: «Do you carry mint tea such as Moroccan or Greek?» He looked at me, stated no and continued to state sarcastically, «We can mix a peppermint tea with a gunpowder green IFYOULIKE but the Greek and Moroccan mint teas are of low quality». Then he started to go off on a tangent about Green Gunpowder teas and how the quality is beneath his standards. Now this guy is quite laughable because he attempts to «come-off» as a snob which translates to me as a «wanna be». Now, I am writing this review as a favor to HIM as I did not want to create a scene and embarrass him or me in the process. However, he did not have a problem with doing so in front of his 5CUSTOMERS. Firstly, I’m keenly aware of tea varieties especially relative to the green tea variety. FYI: I order all of my loose teas, including mint from The Tao of Tea( ) located in Portland Oregon and they have never stated to me that mint teas are substandard to other varieties of tea. Either this owner is a raging idiot or he was simply embarrassed due to the overall lack of offerings in this fledgling business. I’m also aware that he believes himself to be a coffee aficionado… a purest even. Another point I find laughable. However, this is not the case. The atmosphere of this place is stale and uninviting. The service operates at a snail’s pace and it attempts to serve those trying to get to the T station or shuttle for work. PROMPTSERVICEISNOT A FICUS however, if you have time to chat about the history of coffee, Robusta vs Arabica, or those substandard tea varieties that are beneath his«pedigree», then this is the place for you. Also, there is a male employee, heavily tatted, who has to be the worst employee known to mankind, in my opinion. He is dry, unfriendly, not too bright, and apparently has extremely limited experience with ethnic minorities. Yet another establishment in Newton that has a thinly veiled layer of exclusivity(read between the lines). Obviously, I will never step foot into this place again! The service is awful and the owner is beyond delusional. My advice to the owner, you need to secure as much of a loyal customer following as you possibly can. It should be more than obvious that the area is growing a rapid pace with corporate owned businesses securing prime real estate from those mom & pop shops that folded. And we all know what happens when this occurs. To reiterate, the small businesses are pushed out slowly but surely. You can best believe a Starbucks is on the way! So rather than pissing-off the small clientele you have with your false sense of elitism and arrogance, you may want to channel that negative, yet laughable, energy into developing a long term plan as to sustain your business against the corporate machine. Just a suggestion.

Fleck is one of the new hip coffee shops in Newton Highlands and my experience here was excellent. The décor is new, but comfortable. The staff are coffee enthusiasts as well as baristas here. Sourcing only the finest, freshest beans from around the world, along with a boutique selection of bagels, pastries and muffins make this place a must visit on your way to work, or hanging out in the area.

Cute coffee shop and super friendly staff! Cold brew iced coffee was good. They have baked goods from a local bakery that all looked delicious. The bagels were fresh and I had the apple bread which was awesome. It was a little out of the way for me but if I was heading in the vicinity I would stop again!

Not enough tables inside and they burned my coffee… they have great potential and I hope there will be an improvement with the interior atmosphere and food choices soon.

Pretty good café with expected café prices(3 – 5 $ per). If you’re coming here don’t expect Starbucks. This is real espresso, something that seems to be hard to find in the Boston area. The Mochas my girlfriend and I had were delicious, more on the espresso side than chocolate side which is what we like. Atmosphere is nice, but not very much seating. If we’re in the area we’ll definitely stop in again.

Ever since I moved to MA, I’ve been surrounded by Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts, but missed really really good coffee. I came upon Fleck and I was very happy with their pour-over coffee: sweet, smooth, light on the acid, just great coffee. I haven’t tried their espresso, but I’m certain it would be amazing. The shop is decorated with dark lavender walls and is very open, with lots of light inside. It was a perfect little place for coffee before a conference. They serve ice cream here too and pastries as well. They do sell home brewing appliances and accessories, including the non-electrical Hario Buono kettle(the kettle with the curvy spout). I like the fact they serve Counter Culture coffee, so that’s a plus :) The staff is laid back and easy to talk to. Overall, great place. I wish I lived closer, I would come here pretty frequently!

Was taking a wake around the neighborhood. decided to give Fleck a try. I have driven by this place several times. I didn’t actually know what kind of place this was. The Fleck«Logo» is just plain awful. I’m a graphic artist the logo is very hard to read. I would think that people riving by wouldn’t give this place a look because you can hardly read the name of the place from the street… Well I went in very nice inside. considering the was a dress shop before. There really was not much to offer. a few tired looking pastries & cakes in the display case. Then there was your typical coffee counter. This place I think i similar to a standard starbucks. similar prices. The lady behind the counter was very cute & nice.& she knew her coffee. I asked for the best thing they had. she suggested the IDIDO iced cold brew coffee. $ 3.50 for a medium sized cup. I must say. I quit enjoyed the coffee. I also wanted to get a rosemary biscotti they offered, But they were all out of bummer. I will most likely go back to Fleck. I would like to meet the owner. The counter lady said she is nice. It’s worth a try. They are fairly new in the neighborhood. It would be nice if they can stand the test of time.

I’m a stodgy coffee drinker – I always ask for hazelnut wherever I go and don’t think twice about it. I popped into Fleck figuring I’d get the same-but was enticed by the incredible aroma of the coffee to ask for a suggestion and had the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Service friendly, real, and you get the sense that the staff is comfortably devoted to what they are offering. Bought some beans to take home. Love the oatmeal to go. I wish I lived in the area – I’d go back again and again.

Little coffee shop on the corner of Newton highlands near the T. The cold brew is definitely good. This are needed a coffee shop similar to this. They also carry tipping cow ice cream! There is oatmeal and various baked goods. Parking can be tough, but side streets have parking. Room to expand in the food section as they grow but the coffee quality is there! Oh and they’re super nice!

Not only was our pour-over Counter Culture Coffee —the Fast Forward— nicely light-bodied and multi-dimensional, but this new café has the best scones in Boston(cream scones of several flavors, from Nashoba Brook, West Concord, MA). And its apple coffee cake — also from Nashoba — is homey and delicious. The service is very friendly. Only a few tables. Art exhibit too.

One of the best lattes I have ever found anywhere really and I am excited that it is here in newton highlands. They make their own syrups that are better than most places, but even without syrup it was a really delicious coffee! I hope more people discover them so they can stay around.

I’m a regular commuter. I take the T all the time to work. What’s been missing in this corner of Newton is a decent coffee shop for those of us who may have missed the 59 because the green line was being delayed for whatever reason. When I saw that a new coffee shop was opening right by the 59 stop, I couldn’t wait! And it was well worth it! I’m a fan of the mocha’s and the tea’s. It’s a cozy atmosphere with free wifi. I can stay warm in here while waiting for the 59. The staff is young, very hipster, yet they’re super friendly. I also dig the purple walls. I’m most likely going to be a regular here for as long as I take the 59 to work. I’m also looking forward to their blended drinks they’ve been teasing for when the weather gets warmer. Can’t wait!

Pretty much a perfect latte. I really, really want this place to stick around so just one item they might consider adjusting: The interior doesn’t have a homey/coffee shop feel. I spent time drinking my perfect latte and looking around to figure out what was missing. Better lighting? More comfortable furniture? Better layout of tables/chairs? There were no seats available both times that I’ve stopped in, so for me the place is better suited to grab and go than meeting a friend to hang or contemplating my drink.

I didn’t even know that coffee could taste like this. They do a pour over method — it’s slow, but worth it.(the pastries are good too — although the pink peppercorn brownie wasn’t for me). Will be back often.

Probably the best handcrafted latte in the Boston area. They make all their syrups in house(vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut). The vanilla is outstanding. You can certainly takes the real vanilla flavor. You will even see the tiny specks of vanilla bean in the latte itself. Recently tried their seasonal latte(maple cinnamon) made with real maple syrup. Again, phenomenal. The owners are friendly and take care in each beverage they make. Can’t say enough about their drinks. Oh, and they have a terrific pour-over coffee list. Located conveniently diagonal from the Newton Highlands train stop on the corner of Lincoln St. Who the f#%k would go to Starbucks with this place around? I’ve been to nearly every coffee shop in the Boston area and their are certainly some really memorable ones… But this place is in my top 3 without a doubt.

So I went here as part of a coffee crawl(it’s when I go to a bunch of coffee shops in one day, yes I’m nuts, don’t judge) and this place had the sweetest service and warmest atmosphere of all the third wave places I checked out, with amazing coffee to boot. They brew Counter Culture and it’s delicious. This place seemed to cater to a wider demographic than the other shops I checked out that day(Pavement, Voltage, 7 Pond.) Famiiles, single people reading the paper, people knitting, commuters(it’s like literally across from the Newton Highlands stop.) I thought it was great. I also overheard some of the staff giving suggestions to people without hesitation. No snobbery? Check. Do check out the affogato. Their espresso made the mark in this and also in the macchiato. Try the macchiato with a pastry(I only had the brownie bite but I’m assuming the rest of the pastries are just as delish.) I think I’ve found a new regular spot. And it’s purple.

Cute little coffee shop in Newton that just opened up! The service was great and the lattes are even better. I ordered my usual hot vanilla latte and it was perfect. Not too sweet at all. The only down side is the parking. I can’t wait to come back to try an iced latte!
