This is by far my favorite location between Boating in Boston and Charles River Canoe and Kayak. It’s convienent, always plenty of kayaks available, and the staff are great. The boats and equipment are always in excellent shape. I also appreciate that the manager appears to be around often and generally seems attentive to both staff and customers.
As a side note, one night I dropped my phone and it plopped in the water. One of the deckhands stayed to help and the phone was recovered and is now working well.
I’m very impressed and can’t wait to buy another season pass next year!

Boating in Boston @ Hopkinton State Park: The facility in the state park is excellent. The staff is helpful, and the equipment is in excellent shape. The lake is calm, so paddle boarding for the beginner is really easy. If you purchase the season pass, the rates are very reasonable. The lines can be long on holidays, so it’s a good idea to arrive early. The Hopkinton boat house will be open on week-​ends in the fall.

I love kayaking on the Charles, and Charles River Canoe and Kayak never disappoints. Their equipment is all really new and in great condition– and it’s really clean. The lifejackets can be a little smelly from people wearing them, but safety first I guess. Prices can be steep but if you can get a season pass, and sometimes they run Groupon deals, it can be a little friendlier on the wallet.

East Walpole, MA
After not being able to get into the Natick location due to the park being full, we went to this location (we had a Boating in Boston Groupon). I’m very glad we did. I was a bit worried because we’d been to other places and had to wait for a while because all of the kayaks/​boards were out. Although they were busy, they had plenty of kayaks and paddle boards available for us. The equipment was all in great shape, easy to use, and readily available! What more could you ask for?! Oh, there were even real bathrooms! ;-) and, I saw a few people bring their dogs in kayaks with them, so we may try that next time (I’m guessing you need to provide your pup with a life jacket yourself!). One tip — our daughter had a hard time SUP back — the headwind and current were stronger than what she was used to, so if you’re new to SUP, or have kids in your group, it might be wise to stick to a lake or pond, or just kayak like I did! ;-)
