A totally conveniently located liquor store with decent prices. Small but nice. They let me bring my dog in if it’s cold out and the store is empty. They do have a card minimum, but so do lots of places. It’s actually pretty unfair that many of the previous bad reviews are from when the store was also a deli and under different management. To be clear, they are not currently a deli and do not make sandwiches. Just beer, wine, liquor, tobacco, and I think they have snacks and other beverages.

This small, unassuming shop is quite a shock. On the outside, it looks like just another neighborhood liquor store, but the array of well-chosen wines and very nice liquor and beer is a delightful surprise. I live near San Francisco, and the Boston I remember from years ago had tiny selections of bulk-production wine. Not this place. The center of the store is completely filled with wine racks, with well-chosen assortments. There are strong collections of Italian, Chilean, Argentinian, New Zealand, French and California wines, and many of my favorites are here. Hundreds of wines, pinot grigios, sauvignon blancs and chardonnays, many nice sparkling wines, many varied reds. Going over to the liquor section, there are excellent tequilas, whiskeys and whiskys, dark rums, gins, and a large and varied vodka section. I only glanced at the beer and cigar sections, but what I saw also seemed surprisingly nice. The best part is, after asking for a premium and wonderful tequila I have never found on the right coast, the proprietor asked me to write it down so he could order some. If you don’t find your favorite thing here, just ask, as the family that owns the store really wants to make their customers happy. He checked inventory, put stuff aside for me… take a minute and ask for what you want, they will help. It’s easy to pop off I-90 and stop, the parking is good, and it’s easy to jump back on the f-way. Really, check it out.

The man there seemed very cold and snippy when I asked him a question. I know it’s snowing, but it was your choice to be open. Talk about customer service.

Small liquor store with a limited selection run by a guy who stares at you through beady eyes as you look at the beer, avoids eye contact when you pay, and is generally creepy. I hate to come here, but when you live in the neighborhood it’s convenient. On a recent pop in to pick up some waters, the guy tried to pull the credit-card-minimum-thing. I tried to be friendly and let him know I’m in there all the time and it’s just for some water on a hot day. He was as adamant. I pointed out it’s against his merchant agreement with the credit card company. He was pretty stubborn. So I left and bought the same things at Walgreens down the block, saved 50 cents, and paid with a credit card. Marty’s down the street is a much better liquor store.

Been getting great corned beef sandwiches there for years. Went in today and the deli is gone and not coming back. Neither will! I. Bye bye Burtons

This place used to be an almost weekly visit when I worked on Arsenal Street. Tuesday or Thursday carved turkey sandwiches! They are closing the deli at the end of May 2011. The last day is May 27, and no specials will be served during the final week.

I won’t say the food is awful. I’ve eaten a few sandwiches from the deli. They’ve all tasted OK, but not particularly great. I found out today they microwave the pastrami before putting it on the sandwich. They lose a full star for that. I was so disappointed to see my food microwaved. It’s a pretty big sandwich for under 7 bucks, until you realize that’s without cheese. Cheese adds almost a dollar extra! I think the pickle spear they always offer is free, though. It’s a pretty good pickle. Always crisp and fresh-tasting. The liquor store doesn’t have a very good selection. I have browsed, but not bought anything. Burton’s is next door to my office, so I can’t pretend I’ll never be back, but it is all so underwhelming. Definitely not worth going out of your way for, but so much better than any quiznos or subway sandwich.

EEWEEWEEW. Pull it together. I have actually seen the guy making sandwiches sneeze without gloves on and continue to make a sandwich without washing his hands. GROSS. Absolutely not. The sandwiches are blah, but after seeing that I will not eat anything there again. Not to mention the total non personality of everyone who works there. Not helpful and irritated when you try to make conversation as they ring you up. When I have tried to buy liquor there they have not had what I wanted 6 out of 10 times. I’ll go to Marty’s down the street which is huge and cheaper.

This place saved my lunch hour. As Katie M. noted, Quizno’s and Corner Café are super fails, but for the longest time I was wary to try Burton’s deli. «Come on,» I told myself, «how good could the sandwiches be at a liquor store?» The answer – SOGOOD. The man behind the counter is very friendly, and the turkey sandwiches are unparalleled. Unlike Subway, they don’t use pre-cut/prepackaged meats and cheeses. Everything is fresh and made with really high quality materials. The liquor selection is pretty good, too, but I wasn’t paying too much attention as I was waiting for my wonderful sandwich! One note – $ 8.50 seems a bit much to pay for a turkey sandwich and a can of soda, but it was very worth it. I like to treat myself to a Burton’s as a special midweek prize.

Yesssssssssssss!!! I am so glad I discovered this place! OK… so I already knew they sold booze and cigs. But too many soggy subs from Quiznos, and overpriced salads from the Corner Café, drew me to the deli section of Burton’s. And boy is it worth it!!! For $ 6.50 I took home a foot long turkey and cheese sub, the meat and cheese freshly sliced, with newly cut lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. The mustard is quality and they put on just enough mayo. Plus, the guys that work there are nice as can be and super speedy! If you live/work around Newton Corner, give this place a try. I’m buoyed by my yummy lunch and can’t wait to go back!!!

Situated between Honda Village and Buff’s Pub is this little liquor store that shares a parking lot with a gas station. It’s location is convenient for Newton Corner folks and while it is small they have what you need for beer, wine, and liquor and don’t forget the lottery. We stopped in for some Cinco de Mayo supplies and I ogled the deli menu. If you’re buying meat and cheese by the pound it can be a bit spendy with prices creeping into the $ 8 — $ 10 per pound range. They have the regular ham, turkey, cheese and also many types of Italian cold cuts. One thing that caught my eye is that they have chicken salad that appears to be homemade since it was in a corningware dish inside the deli case. I can just picture someones mom making it so I may have to give it a try. They also have sandwiches and weekly lunch specials.
