We have ordered from and eaten here MANY times. In Sussex County there isn’t a Chinese restaurant that can hold a candle to this place. Food is good prices reasonable and service is always excellent. Wouldn’t think twice about recommending this restaurant.

We just moved to the area in Oct of 2015. Despite some of the crappy reviews we decided to try this place since its within walking distance of our home. Joy of joys the food was good. Fast forward six weeks later. We were craving Chun Bo and called for a pickup. It’s Saturday December 5th @ 11am. They don’t do lunch prices on the weekend. No big deal. I don’t eat cooked veg. Ordered the exact same way six weeks ago. This time they want to charge for no veg. They didn’t do that six weeks ago… We didn’t ask for extra meat, just no veg. «Sorry, it’s not a lot of meat, there is an extra charge.» Are you for real? I’m asking for LESS product in my meal and you are gonna charge me more? Then while trying to figure out what we want to do, they hang up on us. I’m the general manager of a restaurant near Morristown. If my customer service was as crappy, we’d go out of business. You just lost a customer who will probably be in this area for the next 25 years and who will make sure everyone knows there is probably better Chinese, who don’t charge extra for no vegetables, and have good customer service, in the Newton/Sparta area.

Two words: where’s Jimmy? I want to start by saying I have lived in Andover for 25 years and have been a long time customer of Chun Bo. The staff has always been friendly, the service and food have always been on point. Chun Bo used to have the best food around. Ever since Chun Bo was sold off, the restaurant has been on a decline. I noticed it first over the summer that the food did not taste as good as it used to. I thought maybe they hired some new chefs who didn’t have the menu down right but two months ago we were told that Jimmy had sold the place. I was very disappointed with tonight’s meal and I will not return back to Chun Bo. Now that Jimmy doesn’t own the establishment I feel no reason to support it. The three boys standing at the register are very unprofessional. One was wearing a t shirt and jeans and all three stood bored on their phones. I’m confused as to why three are handling to go orders and answering the phone, because that is a job for one. Granted, it looked like tonight was busy for take out but it would have been nice for them to help out or at least ask the server if he wanted help with his tables. The food has been cold on several occasions and the recipe has definitely changed for some of the meals. All five of the meals tonight were cold. The service tonight was less than good. The server had 6+ tables to wait and was very busy. He worked hard while everyone else stood and stared at the dining room. Our table was never pre bused. Roles were very defined tonight: one does the water, one does the tea kettle and one does the serving. Someone could have helped out with the pre bus. When you order the combination platter you have the choice of ordering dessert. This is normally great, however, tonight our server didn’t ask us what we wanted and instead brought a plate full of different flavor ice creams with pineapple. This was a terrible thing to do because most at the table order chocolate and there was only one scoop for five people. I asked the server when this changed and he said«this is better for sharing.» If you’re going to change something like that you should tell the customer or at least give them an option to share or have individual desserts. The pineapple was out of a can, Dole is a great company but it was obvious this was not fresh. Overall I am very disappointed with the decline Chun Bo has been on and do not recommend eating here if you have been a long time patron.

I used to like it for takeout when I lived in Newton but feel the quality of the food has gone way downhill. First off the sushi rolls are tiny. Don’t even consider getting the sushi with all the terrific sushi places in nearby Sparta. I used to really like the General Tso’s chicken but when I just got it recently it has gone from being perfect from way to sweet and syrupy with almost no spicy flavor at all. I’ve only eaten in there a few times but the service was always rude when I did with the server mumbling things under her breath after leaving the table.

2nd time. 1st was eat in. 2nd take out. Shrimp and veggies was too greasy. Seaweed salad too much oil. Service is quick and good.

This place wanted to charge me $ 1 for giving them my credit card number over the phone. After they knew it was for a pickup(they don’t deliver). What a joke.

Chun bo used to be the best Chinese in sussex county. The wonton soup would always have greens and pork in it. The wontons had more meat. The ribs looked and tasted like they came from a well fead pig, not an emanciated mystery animal. The crisp noodles would always be made fresh and never stale. The price increased steadily year after year while the quality took a nose dive. Many more Chinese places to choose from now with better quality, cheaper and better tasting. I rarely order from chun bo now.

What can I say? Nice local Chinese restaurant run by friendly staff, quick and efficient service. Food portions are large, tasty and wide variety including sushi. Never had a bad meal or experience here.

The food was REALLY good… the service was SOOOOOOSLOOOOOOOOOW. I understand it was a busy night, but it shouldn’t take 20 minutes to get the waitress to tell her to get our check, then another 10 minutes to get the check. The food was good enough where ill go back and give them another chance.

This place is disgusting. They reuse old food and I will never order from this place again. One time I ordered out and my food had green flys in it. Absolutely foul.

Good middle of the road Chinese food as evidenced by the decent Saturday night crowd. Atmosphere is interesting, probably overdone but i didn’t mind it. Portions are on the larger side but align with the pricing. Tables are a bit too close together — we had two loud talkers at adjacent tables, unfortunately saying nothing entertaining. Service was just ok. Kid was trying but they seemed understaffed. Bottom line, I’d go back.

Food is mediocre, and at times good, but overall, not as fresh when it comes to hot dishes. Sushi and service are redeeming qualities.

The first clue is the stirring rendition of «Reunited» by some chinese instrumented orchestra. In a nutshell this restaurant offers chinese style food that will live up to the expecations of most non-Asian or non gourmet palates. The tea was familiar(oolong) but not spectacular. The delivery of the oh so authentic fried noodles was prompt along with the classic sweet and sour sauce and chinese looking mustard. Strangely, the mustard was bereft of taste and heat. Safe for children I guess. We ordered the classic won ton soup which again arrived promptly and was fairly warm. The won tons were a bit tough but still tasty and the broth was a bit salty but still tasty. Next up was kung bo chicken while my partner had shrimp and cashews. Being an aficionado of hot and spicy food, I asked for Extra Spicy. I know from past experience that kung bo(po) chicken in the proper hands can melt paint. Not this time. I actually did not detect any heat level. I’d rather not imagine what the regular recipe tastes like. My partner has less discerning tastes in the area of asian food and she was quite happy with her selection deeming it «quite tasty». Portions were large with enough leftovers for at least another meal The room was well lit and comfortable and decorated in classic Chinese Restaurant style(here and abroad) with dark mahogany furniture, red accents and lots of gold paint. All things considered, a fine place to get a filling meal at a reasonable price if you want classic american style chinese food. Nothing objectionable but nothing spectacular either. A safe bet to kill hunger.

Stopped by here for a light meal. I keep going here for convenience, and they never cease to let me down. Whether it’s a worker not washing their hands after a bathroom trip, workers out back smoking, or cheaply made meals, there is always something to disappoint my meal. Maybe I need to lower my standards. This place is mediocre Chinese take-out. Period. If you go into with those expectations, you’ll be fine. The meat in the hot and sour soup has been reduced to zero over the past couple years. The vegetables(i.e. Chicken & broccoli) are never fresh and the meats don’t seem like good, quality cuts. The sushi is OK and the drinks are always good. My wife hates them because they don’t have anything that resembles a Gluten Free selection. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend unless you’re in a pinch. I’ll probably stop there again, though, but I’ll be sure to stick to sushi and Mai tais.

Ordered take out. Used to have great Chinese food. The egg rolls were orange mush inside. The fried rice was old and broccoli had gray spots on it. Did not eat the chicken because it was with the broccoli. Did not want to get sick.

Driving past this place a number of times and seeing that it did attract a crowd, my husband and I decided to give this place a try. The décor is typical cheesy Chinese with very loud(and nerve wracking) music in the background. The place was empty when we went with only one other couple there so we were very surprised at the slow service. The waiter was not rude but was very indifferent towards us almost to the point that we felt like we were annoying him somehow. The food was meh. I ordered the spicy tuna roll as a starter. It smelled fishy – never a good sign for sushi as it means it wasn’t all that fresh – and was rather bland. Definitely not spicy. The only thing that saved that roll was the wasabi I added in. My husband ordered wonton soup which was also bland and very watery. For our entries I ordered the General Tso’s chicken, which(ironically) had a chili pepper next to it on the menu indicating it was spicy. It was the farthest thing from it. It had to be the blandest General Tso’s I have ever had. My husband had the sesame beef which had a bit more flavor but not a lot. I will admit that I may be a bit of a Chinese food snob, but that comes from living in Bergen county for many years and having access to some really good stuff. However, even for Sussex county this was bad. While the quality of food they give you for the price is decent, the quality is not. We’re not going here again. You are better off going to Tokyo Sushi in Sparta for sushi and Wok and Sushi in Franklin for Chinese. Prices are comparable to both.

What is this!!! A chinese/japanese place in Newton!!! Can it be? I must say I was a little hesitant to go to this place… but it is so close to my girlfriend’s apartment. Boy was I surprised. Staff is super friendly. Food is tasty. She had a few sushi rolls and wonton soup. I had a tempura dish which came with miso soup, salad, and rice. everything was tasty and came out real quick. best of all, the price was very very reasonable. I’ll have to make this place a regular spot.

If Chun Bo simply focused on the Chinese food, they would get 5 stars, but they, for some reason, have a sushi bar on site as well. Both myself and my wife have ordered from the sushi bar, and while it’s never terrible, it’s certainly not good, about the quality one would get from a supermarket sushi. The chinese food, on the other hand, is among the best in the area. I would liken it to a much less expensive Hunan Taste in Denville, which is high praise for anyone who knows that restaurant. Any time I want Chinese, I take the trip down 206 to go to Chun bo! I know a lot of people complain about the cheesy interior design, but I kind of like it.

This was our first on-our-own group dinner during our two week stay in East Bumble. Actually I think we were technically in West Bumble. The staff was friendly and very cool about accomodating our walk-in party of 10. They also kept feeding the men in our party drinks despite the ever-increasing noise level. The food was standard Ameri-Chin, nothing special. But it was hot and filling and the leftovers were just as good the next day. What more can you really ask for?
