I hired them based on a friend’s recommendation and their price quote($ 87/hour for 3 guys and truck) which was literally half what I received from others. When I saw Unilocal reviews I was a bit nervous, but I was only moving Lowell to Boston so wouldn’t have to deal with storage which seemed to be one of the big problems. I actually found Ofra to be very nice and responsive. My move was scheduled for a Monday, which coincided nicely with a 2 day blizzard. When I called the office first thing Sunday morning to get a jump on rescheduling, I literally had her calling me back before I could leave a message. The guys were nice enough, though I am pretty sure one got sick in my bathroom which was kind of gross, but hey I don’t live there anymore, w/e. When we got to the narrow streets of Boston, I had a moment of panic that the truck wouldn’t be able to park anywhere, but thanks to my new favorite neighbor we worked it out. I also got charge for tape, etc. which you are made aware of ahead of time, just didn’t think they would use so much. It was a couple hundred bucks more than was guestimated and I can’t say I would jump to use them again, but overall it was ok and I wasn’t unhappy with the experience.

This company is so messed up. Do not hire them under any circumstance! You stuff will arrive late and it will be destroyed

Sorry to say, but I gotta agree with Dave. Cheapest quote I could find to get the goods from Peabody to Burlington, VT, so I went with them. Red flag, non? After MUCH back and forth with Orla, we finally arranged for a friend(«my agent,» which I like the sound of) to meet the movers at the storage facility and sign off on Juan and Billy bringing my stuff on up. Orla wasn’t too thrilled by the fact that I wasn’t there. I wasn’t to thrilled by EVERYTHING that followed. Per our discussions, the 3 movers were going to pack it all and bring it up and unload it, no worries. The TWO movers(Juan and Billy) were nice enough dudes but halfway into emptying the truck, they stopped. STOPPED. Apparently if the payment hadn’t been submitted(which it had, they had a CC with ridiculous zeroes on it), they were legally unable to continue. At this point, I kind of lost it, but not at them, as it wasn’t their rule to follow. I got Orla and her boss on the phone, both of whom promised the other would fix it but only 30 minutes after the calls started were they«able» to continue unloading the truck. Half an hour that I(in fact, my employer, who thankfully funded the thing) had to pay for. Not only was I not informed of this in advance, but Orla insisted it was standard protocol and I should have known, and oh bytheway it was a holiday for them and therefore she couldn’t talk on the phone after sundown. I called serious bullshit on that, cos you can hire all KINDS of people who can work after sundown. I should know, I was a Recession Statistic. Either way, how the folks in the office treated me was bad enough, yet it does get worse. My company’s procurement woman who regularly stocks offices and homes in conflict zones around the world is ready to throttle these folks. She requested a receipt from them, to which Orla replied that«they don’t do that,» she has tried repeatedly to reach their office at various times of day, left scads of voicemails, all to no avail(sometimes voicemail picks up, sometimes not). Her most recent ones have been to tell them she’s going to dispute the charges on the CC if they don’t call her back. The BBB may be called. They«don’t do» receipts? There’s no one to answer a phone? No one to return a call? No one cares if their payment is refused? It’s pretty unbelievable.(of course, the actual cost of the move was $ 500 over the estimate and a bunch of stuff was massively scratch/broken/crushed. charming) Gentle Giant and Metrosexual Movers get great ratings, and now I can see why Julian’s hella-doesn’t. Just thinking about it make my hernia rage. AVOID.
