Great food, staff makes you feel like family. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Italian food. Menu isn’t giant but that just makes it more home style which is a great thing. Pizza is great when eating in and I saw plenty of people get it for take out. Pasta dishes are delicious too.

Pretty solid Italian food. Not a fancy place, the presentation is okay.

Charming, Italian restaurant, with feeling of Italian Mom & Pop kitchen. There is a feeling of authenticity, as if you were experiencing Italy. Everything is freshly made there, including there iced tea. The pasta marinara is nice. The green salad was also fresh.

I’ll admit, I have a bit of a soft spot for this place because it’s run by this adorable older Italian couple. The husband works the front and the wife cooks. I’ve been in there a few times, each time trying something different. It seems, like what most people have said, that the pizza is your best bet if you end up going. I’ve had the chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs, and a veal parm sandwich. All have been decent. Pizza, though, is great. Definitely recommend the pizza. They appear to get a lot of take-out orders; everytime I’ve gone in there to eat there has been a steady stream of people walking in and out to do pick ups. Again, mostly pizza. I’d go back, even if the food isn’t «WOW!» quality, since I like to support the small businesses around town rather than the repetitive chain places.

Went on an evening last week, and there were only two other tables filled while I was there. A few customers came in for takeout, which I didn’t realize they did. We were seated quickly by an older gentleman, who seems to own the place with a woman who was in the back — Maria, perhaps? I like small businesses, so this was a good start. The menu was a bit pricy, at $ 15-$ 20 an entrée and $ 8 or so for a Bruschetta app, but I had hopes it would be stellar, or at least on par with other Italian places I’ve been to. The bruschetta was good, if a bit messy — lots of onion and tomato. Not sure if it’s Italian style or what, but chopping things finer would have helped me a lot. Half the toppings fell onto the table while I was eating, but it tasted good, so that was ok. The salads were tasty, which were included with our entrée. Careful if you don’t like vinegar when you order oil and vinegar dressing — it’s really tangy and strong vinegar! I liked it, though. The entrees came next, with less than a 10 minute wait between courses. They were fresh pasta, but somehow, just didn’t taste like much. My palate is pretty sensitive to flavor since I cook at home most of the time, but nothing really popped in my pesto tortellini dish. The pesto didn’t taste like basil or fresh herbs, just mildly like dried herbs and not much else. I had to add pepper(I love pepper) to give the dish some flavor after a few bites, despite worrying that I was being rude, it was just necessary. :-/ My partner agreed that his cheese ravioli, while ok, were just not that tasty. Our check took a long time to arrive. I finally was about to get up, and was turning out of my seat when a young man finally came over to get us the bill. For some reason, the owner(?) couple was in the back constantly, meaning I couldn’t ask for the check if I’d tried much earlier. I didn’t want to be rude, but I think we were waiting 25+ minutes. I’m not that impatient usually, just wanted to be acknowledged and allowed to leave when I want, not when someone else gets around to letting me pay. Especially for the price, I’d rather go somewhere else. Sorry, I like my Italian food to taste like herbs and tomatoes and garlic — or at least like something definitive. $ 50+ for a largely tasteless meal kind of hurts. Oh, well. Kind of a waste of money and time, but the people seemed nice. It was also not dirty, as another reviewer stated, just not aseptic. I won’t be back.

I recently moved back home for a bit after graduating college and figured I’d explore some of the restaurants around here. After Unilocaling a bit, I found this Italian place and figured I’d give it a shot. I went with my sister on a Saturday evening and was surprised to find a small, quaint place. Not what I was expecting but I was excited to try it out. Now, there were probably 6 – 8 other people there, which was ¾ capacity, and one server for all of us. I cannot stress how incredibly awful the service was. It took 5 minutes to get us seated, 20 minutes to order, and we didn’t even get our appetizer until at least 30 – 40 minutes after that. The service is enough to make me never want to come back here. As for the food, I was really impressed with some and ‘meh’ about others. The bread all around is fantastic, some of the best I’ve had in Boston. This also made the pizza delicious. On top of that we got a pasta dish which was pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary in my mind. I’d love to try this place again if the service wasn’t so bad. But if you’re willing to risk spending over an hour to get even an appetizer, I’d recommend trying it out.

Found it on Unilocal while staying at the Crown Plaza hotel. Restaurant is about a mile away; a nice evening stroll in good weather after traveling. Thank you, Unilocal!Five stars for the food… maybe the best Italian food we’ve ever had. Ever. The atmosphere is simple and casual; the food simple and delicious — made with care and attention to flavor. Try the scampi or the red sauces. A warm night with no AC was the only drawback, but in a way made the experience even more«homey.» Excellent service from the«cutest waiter ever»(actor-son of the proprietors) according to my teen daughter, but we were the only ones there… and had a teen daughter with us. If we lived in this town, we’d eat there as often as possible.

While not quite as sophisticated(or good) as Vecchio Roma, Maria di Napoli is an excellent spot for good, honest Italian cooking. I’ve been impressed with their pastas(e.g., linguine con vongole, aglio olio) and they make outstanding Neapolitan pizza and lunch sandwiches. Hands down the best Italian joint for lunch that I know of. And the prices are so reasonable! Oh and as an added bonus… they serve amazing espresso drinks(their cappuccino is second to none). Finally, the place is run by a lovely husband and wife team who are such nice welcoming people. I honestly feel like I’ve made friends! I’d recommend to anyone with a hankering for a good, authentic Italian meal. Now, if only they spruced up the décor a bit…

This place was recommended to me by my Italian friend from Rome — note: a real Italian from Italy. He described it as very authentic and given that he’s picky about all Italian places in Boston I knew I simply had to check this restaurant out. According to my friend, everything is home made here — even tiramisu ingredients and tomato sauce for the pizza. I finally went here for lunch today with co-workers and we loved everything: delicious, thin crust Margherita pizza, great caprese and strong coffee with tiramisu(the piece was big enough to share for four people!). Margherita pizza was perfect and I can’t wait to go back to try capricciosa. The place is very cute too — it’s family owned and the owner is very sweet. Service is on a slower side, but who cares. The food quality is top notch and prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back!

If you want a nice quiet place to eat Maria Di Napoli is the spot for you. Everything is home made and the food is exceptional. Maria and Roger really make the experience great. I have been going there now for close to 5 years and I have never had a bad meal there. Check it out!!!

This little charming place is something that is very worthy of 5 stars! We went in right at 5pm on a Wed. night and we were the first ones in. We were seated by a very nice older Italian man. This place only seats about 25 which is the way I like it. He gave us our menus and showed us the specials of the day on the chalkboard. One of them was Ravioli’s with a salad for 15.95 which I ordered and my friend ordered the Chicken Parm with ziti. We ordered garlic bread for an appetizer. For drinks I had a diet coke but my friend ordred their freshly made lemonata al fresca(homeade lemonade) FANTASTIC! The garlic bread came out an was fresh and yummy… toasted and crusty, and soft in the middle. Our salads came and perfectly sized, they were super fresh and the dressing was great… So far things were right on time… Our food came and I was drooling. The second he put it in front of me I could tell these raviolis were homeade, hot, fresh and they tasted like heaven. The sauce was not too thick, not too thin and just the epitomy of simply good authentic Italian. Now my friend’s Chicken Parm came and if I thought it couldn’t get better than my dish. his OMG!.. I took a bite and I have to say one of if not the BEST I have ever had! It was perfectly cooked, so tender and just the right amount of breading… and so fresh. Even though we were kinda of full we couldn’t resist dessert because they had homeade mini cannolis and Spumoni gelato! Both were just sensational! Can this place get any better! This is one place that I think I will be on my all time top 5 list for a loooong time!

This is a family owned restaurant. The dad takes the order and the mom is in the back preparing the food. Super cute couple. First impression of coming in, you don’t except much. Not much décor. The menu is short and simple. We ordered their caprese salad as a app. The large slices of mozzarella tasted fresh over a cold, crisp, and sweet tomato slices. The salad was enough to share with 2 ppl. As for our main dish we shared a large pizza. Their style is a neoplolitan… extra thin with a great crunch to the crust. We were shocked how good the pizza was. We can’t wait to come back and try other flavors and other dishes. Prices are reasonable. I would eat there than to have take out. Pizza tastes better when hot and straight from the oven.

This is my favorite pizza place. I stress Pizza Place. Order a pizza, insalata mista, and a nice glass of wine and you will not be disappointed. Almost like Naples. One of the best Neoplolitan pizza restaurants in New England. Remember just order the pizza, yes that means you Ali B.

First time at this restaurant with my first impression being«This place is so cute.» I ordered the Margherita Pizza, ice tea/lemonade combo and a salad. The pizza is thin crust and absolutely delicious. The ice tea and the lemonade are also homemade and refreshing. They put no sugar in the tea so people can make it as sweet as they want. The lemonade has sugar but it was just the right amount of sweetness. Maria makes the dough and the sauce for the pizza from scratch. She is an amazing cook. I can’t wait to try the spaghetti and meatballs next. Or the chicken cutlet sandwich. The place has a warm happy feeling with Italian music playing in the background. The owners are extremely nice, personable and welcoming. Since I am new to the Netwon area, I’ve designated this as the restaurant to which I will bring any of my visiting guests. It is just that kind of place I know I’ll be going to again and again…

Maybe we should have read the reviews more carefully, or taken notice of the 2 other tables in there on a Saturday night, and just ordered the pizza … but we were craving pasta and decided to go based on rave reviews from a friend’s co-worker. Our server was nice enough, but perhaps not all ‘there’ … we asked him which pastas were homemade to which he replied — all of them. We were delighted to hear that because the menu only stated one kind was homemade. Well, our chicken marsala and chicken parm came … and it did not appear that the pasta was infact homemade. When we asked the server, he responded with … oh, I thought you meant what pastas were *made* here, as in, cooked/prepared … WHAT?! Not only could we not believe the confusion between home made pasta and where the pasta was actually cooked, but the food was just not good. The chicken marsala sauce was weird. Not marsala-tasting at all, and seemed like it had sat in the pan over heat for too long because it was like syrup — not creamy, syrup. Not inedible, like I’m going to be sick, but BAD and the most poorly made chicken marsala I’ve ever eaten. I’ve made better at home … there’s a chance we’ll give it another try for pizza, but anything else … forget it!

This is one of my favorite places to eat! Maria and her husband Anthony are super nice and always accommodating. My favorites are their eggplant parm(best I’ve ever had, thin slices and perfectly breaded and fried), panino caprese(buns are toasted, fresh mozz is amazing), their homemade lasagna(veggie and meat ones are both out of this world! The layers meld together beautifully especially since Maria makes her own pasta), shrimp giardiniera(perfectly sized pieces and tasty combination), puttanesca(best I’ve ever had, perfect combination of ingredients), chicken marsala(I lick the plate to get every last drop of this sauce), and any of their pizzas(margherita is phenomenal and you should try their potato pizza).

After reading all of the reviews here, I decided to give this place a try. The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door was that while the place is set up to be a pizzeria, the owners have dressed it up to look like a small Italian restaurant(approximately 6 – 8 tables, all covered with nice rustic table cloths) and, as a result, you can go there wearing everything from sweatpants to a suit and tie without feeling out of place. I ordered a slice for $ 1.75(I like to do a test-run before committing myself to an entire pizza) and while it was tasty, I didn’t think it was all that special(and I also got a can of Coke that wasn’t all that cold – although when I asked for some ice, they gladly gave me a glassful.) But, at this point, I was almost ready to walk out(because, by now, I was starting to wonder what all the shouting was about – and I just can’t afford to waste my money.) But, at $ 9.25 for a 16 inch pizza, you really can’t go too wrong, so I decided to order a pizza, after all, and just prepared myself for an average, at best, eating experience. And, boy, was I ever wrong about that! I told Maria(who does all the cooking) that I wanted my pizza a little well-done(I like some charring around the crust) and she told me not to worry, that she knows how to make a pizza, and that she’d make me a real Neapolitan pizza. And when that pizza came out of the oven and her hubby brought it over to my table, I took one look at it and knew immediately that I was going to spend the next hour in Pizza Paradise. And that’s exactly what it was: pizza in paradise. I would try to describe it, except that I wouldn’t be able to find enough adjectives to describe how great this pizza was. Amazing sauce, perfect(thin) crust, and incredible cheese(pure mozzarella, Maria told me). Holy shit, what an awesome pizza! It really was one of the best pizzas that I’ve ever had – and, in my opinion, it belongs in the same catagory as North End Regina and Santarpio’s(during it’s heyday in the ’80’s and before). This was Pizza Nirvana, ladies and gentlemen: Maria from Naples knows how to make one hell of a damn fine pizza, so if you really are a pizza-lover(and especially if thin crust pizza is your thing) then you really MUST go here. I’m just glad that I didn’t walk out! Holy shit…

Maria DiNapoli’s has amazing authentic Italian food. When it comes to Italian food I am very picky. My favorites: pizza and chicken parm. When they have the ravioli or lasagna special I always get it. My family lives a close by and gets food here every Friday. This is a must-try.

I eat lunch here about two days a week and have yet to find something on the menu I don’t like. The quality of everything is fantastic — pretty much everything is homemade and not out of a can, and the prices are reasonable too. My three favorite sandwiches are: –Chicken Caprese — made with breaded chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, tomatoes, and great balsamic. –Sausage, peppers, and onions — they make their own sausage and roast the peppers themselves — the quality comes through –Eggplant Parm — I can’t get enough of this eggplant! Their pizza is also excellent and at only $ 1.50 a slice you can’t beat the deal. Not only do I love the food, but I come back because the owners are so damn nice. They really treat you with great hospitality — something that makes staying to eat in worth it.
