The actually care here was fine. My husband was sick the day after Thanksgiving and the Dr. was closed. We had exceeded out catastrophic benefits so we actually had no co-pays at this point. The facility assured my husband 1) they were a preferred provider but 2) they had to collect the $ 50. co-pay. After some back and forth they told him they called Blue Cross and confirmed this. I later found out Blue Cross had the day off. I got a letter from BC informing the facility was not a preferred provider and I would be responsible for the entire bill. I was a couple hundred dollars. I called Premier and after lots of back and forth they said when I got bill they would knock off of a little, but it was kind tough luck. I am told the walk in rate for a cold(which is basically what he went in for) was $ 75. I asked why I wouldn’t be billed for $ 25. I was told once I presented my insurance card I had to pay the whole nut. We have never been billed for the excess. But I noticed on the BC site they appear to be a preferred provider. I called and was told, yes they were and have been since early November 2014. BC said they would re-submit the claim and I presumed I would stake my claim the $ 50 excess I paid. WRONG !!! I got EOB and it indicates patient responsibility $ 50 !!! I called BC and found out they denied a $ 50 «junk fee»(their words not mine) of an after-hours fee of $ 50. What the heck. This is an urgent care facility. What, did they open up special for him??? They are toast me and I’ll spreading the word.
