Slack’s Hoagie Shack

I will tell you now that this franchise is a disgrace. I typically do not post bad reviews, but feel obligated to warn people about this place. I called to place an order for pick up at 7:30pm on 12/​13/​2015. The person who took my order gave me a total that was well above what the total should have been. I was looking at their current prices on their menu on GrubHub, and was about to order online, but decided to call it in instead. I placed my order and he gave me the final total, it was significantly higher than what it should have been.
When I called back and began pointing out the 35% difference in pricing, he proceeded to tell me that GrubHub prices were wrong, and then thanked me for pointing it out. He then sarcastically told me that he would charge me the exact same price, regardless of me pointing out the error. When I told him that it did not seem fair, and that I would like to cancel my order, he proceeded to rudely hang up on me.
This franchise does not value its customers and clearly needs a lesson in etiquette. Luckily now I can cross them off my list of places to eat in Newtown.

Food wasn’t very good and took forever for it to be finished. Also expensive for the quality.

I’ve ordered delivery from slacks several times. The only time I was satisfied was when I had the buffalo chicken cheesesteak but the last two times I ordered were bad enough to prevent me from getting slacks in the future. I got the chicken tender platter and the godmother or something like that. The chicken both times was not appetizing at all. The delivery time was a little long but not to upsetting. There a few are a few better places to order food delivery from in Newtown.

I really like Slack’s and have for years. Honestly I always thought they were better than Lee’s when even when they were still open in Newtown. Slack’s is in Newtown Commons across from the Dunkin Doughnuts and Napa Auto, it’s on the corner so it can be easy to miss. Inside is your basic hoagie shop with a big open air kitchen which means you get to smell all the grease (this is a bonus by the way). They have all your basic hoagie shop fare, including some vegetarian options which are pretty good. I personally think they have some of the best cheese steaks around also. In short, I just plain like going here.

The food was overcooked today and VERY dry. the cheese steak I could add ketchup and it was ok but the Motz sticks were so over cooked that only 2 had cheese inside. 5 bucks for fried bread crumbs sucks

I would love to give it a 5 but they don’t put enough meat on the cheesesteak for the price. But thank the lord someone still uses Kraft cheese wiz. Yes Kraft! The only suburban place to use this and this is why cheesesteaks taste better in the city and why I would of giving it a 5 star.

The only place I’ll get a mushroom chicken cheesesteak and truly be happy and satisfied. And their seeded rolls are incredible.

Absolutely amazing customer service and great food! I stop in to eat here almost everyday, and haven’t been disappointed yet. I have had almost everything on the menu, and it is ALL delicious.

Love this place! Family owned and operated, awesome food and I’ve tried many different items. Very nice staff Very clean (even bathroom). Gotta try this place !!!

Slacks by far is the worst place in NEWTOWN and bucks country for that matter. We had ordered 4 hoagies and for delivery. First, the order was over an hour late, the hoagies were made horribly (gross) and were also not what we had ordered. We had called to complain and reorder, we were told they would remake the hoagies and re deliver in mins… after and hour and a half, we had called back, then to be told they are much too busy to remake the sandwiches.
Hopefully, they will be shut down sooner than later… that are HORRIBLE !
fyi, WE REFUSE TO EAT AT THEIR LOCATIONS, ITS SO OLD, DIRTY AND DEPRESSING THERE…

Wish they would get rid of the obnoxious phone commercials blasting at your after they put you on hold when you first call.

I had not visited Slack’s for a few years. I guess their hoagies were just not that impressive to garner my loyalty.
With the arrival of Primos in the Village of Newtown Shopping Center, my interest in torpedo sandwiches has been rekindled, and after visiting another shop in the Slack’s strip mall, I went in on impulse and ordered a Chicken Salad Hoagie with Provolone. The first thing I noticed was that they now offered their hoagies with a sesame seed roll option, just like Primos. Who said competition doesn’t improve all competitors?
The sandwich with hots and sweets was very good. About the equivalent of Primos, with a similar price. If anything detracts from the Slack’s experience it is that their facility has not changed in years and looks a bit dingy and dated. Also, the employees seem to lack the customer service polish of Primos. These are not big things, but if the food is basically equivalent, then the decision comes down to atmosphere and price. Price is close. So, atmosphere carries the day, and Slack’s is not on the same level as Primos.
I will stop in now and then to see if things are changing, but it will not win me over until it sees the need to offer a new image, and takes steps to meet it.

The wait time is horrible I was so happy when they picked up and it was 10 mins to opening time. But I put my order in at 1050 … It is now 1230 and still no food. :(
And to top it off i called and the guy said oh the driver doesn’t get in until 11:30 … When were you going to tell me this… Never again. They finally got here and I wish I take a pic horrible, I ordered a soda mm nice and warm :/

Hadn’t been to this Slacks for awhile. Ordered $ 39 of sandwiches: a giant chicken salad hoagie, a giant roast beef hoagie and a Mardi Gras wrap. There was very, very little chicken salad in the hoagie and the roll was crumbling like it was stale. The roast beef hoagie was actually pretty good. The wrap was really small. For $ 39 and a 40 minute wait, we’ll try Lee’s next time.

Slack’s is far superior to Lee’s! Great delivery service, frequent eater card, and really good food.

It has always been very quiet here when I have come at lunchtime– which is easy for me, because service is immediate.
A little short on extras, but a fine casual lunch.

Slack’s Hoagie Shack is a great sandwich shop in Newtown, PA. They offer eat in, take-​out, and delivery of all their menu items. They have excellent cheesesteaks of both chicken and beef. They use Amoroso’s rolls and quality lunch meats. This is not the first review of a Slack’s, but the first of the Newtown location. Stop in and ask for Matt, he own’s the place and will be more than happy to help you with your order. Great customer service and products.
