Viola’s Submarine House

This is my favorite sub in Niagara Falls hands down. This small place on Military Road packs a serious punch. They have different subs but the family sticks to what we know and love.
My personal favorite is the double steak and cheese. The meat is always tender and flavorful and the cheese well that is just amazing.
They cook everything right there and in no time they are asking you how you want it. For me it is everything minus tomatoes. Everything includes lettuce, oil, seasoning, onion and tomato. I always opt out of the tomatoes as they are not my thing.
The rolls are soft and not too doughy they are pretty thin which is perfect for me as I like the meat and not a ton of bread.
They do wrap the sub in plastic wrap but it makes it so much easier to eat as these things get super messy. Just rip off a half and peel back your plastic slowly and enjoy one of the best subs I have ever had!

I have done repeated tests, at Davids, Mariposa’s, and this one takes the prize. First, it’s consistent. Also, the mix of LTO and the dressing is good, as is the balance of meat and cheese with the LTO.
I don’t know where the rolls are from but they are always fresh.
I always ask for light seasoning, there’s sodium in the roll, in the dressing… why over do it.
They do have the weird tradition of wrapping the sub in plastic wrap, but that’s just a weird Niagara Falls thing.
Cash only! Large Steak and cheese and a bag of chips, 10 bucks. And it’s worth it.

Steak and cheese… period! Okay, maybe steak double cheese or even a double steak and cheese, but if you go there and look at the menu to decide what to get and you HAVEN’T had a steak and cheese yet… well, just don’t do it. That’s their signature sandwich and worth traveling 100 miles for… which we do!
