Frosty Treat

Nom nom nom nom nom soooo delicious!

A few weeks ago, I was out in Niantic with some friends and we were pretty hot. Frosty Treat provided an excellent refreshment. I got vanilla ice cream — pretty simple, but tasted great nevertheless.

This is a staple of summer in Niantic, CT. We stopped for a burger but I wouldn’t suggest it. If you go get the ice cream and go down the street for a meal

We visit frosty treat every time we go to rocky neck state park in the summer. They have amazing ice cream at a great price! Love this place!

I’m torn with this ice cream shop. I’m torn between yelling about them from the roof tops to all my friends because they are so amazing or keeping them to myself because I don’t want to share this precious gem that we found with everyone.
We make a trip every few weeks to the book barn and swing in here after every time. We love it! The staff is young and sweet. While the lines are normally long any given day or time, it is worth it! We LOVE the roadrunner raspberry (white chocolate icecream, raspberry swirl with raspberry filled chocolate cups) and the cappuccino crunch (cappuccino icecream with chocolate crunch. Lol). The play dough looks fun (bright colored cookie dough icecream) but we haven’t tried it yet due to not wanting to give up our favorite choice!(we went back and tried play dough. While it looks neat, there is nothing super special about the taste)

We were driving around in the area visiting book stores and were going to stop at a different ice cream place (which had NO outdoor seating and not even any grass nearby) but when we drove by Frosty Treat we noticed that this location had a number of nice tables and umbrellas outside. Ice cream was yummy, I’ll pick this one of the nearby chain any time :)

One stop shop for fried clams, hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream. I wasn’t interested in trying the food food. We just stopped for soft serve. Both of us got the chocolate and vanilla swirl and it hit the spot. There is a cute outdoor seating area.

Its like a 1950’s malt shop popped up in today’s world. Real old time feel, real nice young staff working there.
All I can say is this –they have a big selection of ice cream and soft serve. We ordered two small cones and paid about five and a half bucks. In the world of today’s ice cream prices that is a rock bottom bargain. My small soft serve with caramel flavor burst was a generous size and it was great! Sweet, creamy, great texture and consistency, it was all good.
We didn’t get any food, but they have all your clam shack and snack bar faves here –burgers, dogs, clams, even lobster rolls.
The only downer is the parking lot is teeny tiny. It snakes around the building and the traffic lane is so small it’s only one way traffic. Also, the parking spots are pretty narrow– the guy next to me couldn’t get into his vehicle — and he was in the center of his spot as was I.

Generous amounts, the two scoop was more like a four scoop. The only complaint I had is the icecream I ordered, muddy sneakers, didn’t really have any flavor to it. I would definitely come back, just staying far away from that flavor

Great hot dogs and awesome fries! Quick and orderly service. The seating was nice, very casual tables and umbrellas. I enjoyed that they served Hershey’s Ice Cream. The soft serve was less creamy than other places but they had interesting flavors and toppings. Prices were very good for what was served. Staff super friendly and courteous.

I can’t drive by this place without stopping for the Whole Belly Clams. I have had them from all over Southeastern CT and Southern RI. These are consistently the best around the area.

Went to this place for the first time today. Ordered chili hot dogs, fries, and onion rings. They do serve a foot-​long hot dog and it was okay. The chili was straight out of a can. The onion ring order that I paid $ 3.29 for contained maybe six (6) over-​cooked onion rings. I don’t think this place offers anything unique so I’ll go on by the next time.

This place is great. I was really surprised how good it is. its a wonderful value compared to others in or around town. my burger was dripping the gooey cheese and grease. which might sound like a bad thing, but its oh soo good. fries were solid, onion rings were very crisp. i had flavorburst icecream, which i enjoyed. the best part about flavorburst is at the end of the cone there is super concentrated syrup. the place was super busy, i’ll be back much sooner than i thought i would be.

Frosty Treat is a MUST if visiting the Niantic/​Lyme area. Excellent food from the grill, i’d recommend the foot long hot dog. Great ice cream choice. Friendly staff (mostly teengers but they are great!). The service is quick, even if there is a long line. Great stop for a beach day, after dinner, or just because. You really can’t go wrong with Frosty Treat. Ever.

Summer wouldn’t be summer without a trip (or 2 or so) to Frosty Treat.

Nice old-​school ice-​cream stand. 5 minutes off I95 and certainly worth the detour.

Best icecream in town. Little place where kids work in the summer. Have all kinds of icecream and junky american food. We go here often after dinner. Great business.

what can be said? this is america. period.
line up up at a window where a teenager takes your order. eat your unbelivelably delicious ice cream treat (or hot dog) at a big round table, with an umbrella for shade, with your family, friends or sweetie. wishing that summer would never end.
