For a Friday night, service was very good, food portions were good, but food was just ok, a bit bland, nothing special for the price paid.

Lobster rolls super delicious but the place could really use a warm up. Placemats would help, maybe some changes in lighting and such to make the experience better. Salads, staff and wine was ok but nothing to brag about.

Mediocre. Burger was dry and overcooked, though I can tell it would have really been superb had it been juicy. Fries were boring and tasteless. If you love a crispy, well seasoned fry, you won’t find any here. I would give them another shot, though. As busy as they were, there must be better stuff on the menu.

Went for dinner tonight with friends and was extremely disappointed. The service was painfully slow and the place was not very busy. Ordered chicken Marcela which was decent, the baked potato was cooked days ago and cold. My wife ordered the stuffed combo and hardly ate any of it. The Lobster Bisque soup was only Luke warm and not very tasty. The waitress did not keep our table clear that and could not explain why the food took so long. She never asked if everything was OK and said the owner was coming out to talk to us but never did. The people around us also complained and were visibly upset. Terrible service and below average food, pick another restaurant. As we left there were 3 of the kitchen help and our waitress smoking right outside the kitchen door. Enough said, stay away.

Went with my Dad and BF and none of us left satisfied or wanting to go back. Ordered two apps, mussels and seafood stuffed portabella mushroom. The mussels were O.K., the smoke sausage used was so overpowering its all you could taste. The portabella mushroom was the smallest I’ve ever seen, when they are that small you should put at least two on the plate, was tasty though. Got the fish sandwich and so did the bf. I had a baked potato with mine and oooh boy was it old. The potato was room temp, crusty(in a bad way) and soooo dry. They had obviously cooked it the day before and were reheating. I requested another one and was brought exactly that, another old crusty potato that you couldn’t even melt butter in. I mean come on, if you cant execute a damn baked potato than you have no business selling food. My boyfriends fries were so gross, seems they too were old and had been sitting in a bowl, he didn’t eat them. The fish sandwich was mediocre at best. Waitress left a huge pile of our dirty plates sitting in front if our faces throughout the whole check out process, never cleared them. One of the first rules of serving, never leave or enter the kitchen with empty hands… For the price the food should be so much better, service as well. Disappointing dinner for sure.

poor presentation of food Waited for our table on the deck so we knew what we wanted to order when were seated Ordered a pitcher of sangria — 24 $ tasted watered down Bacon wrapped scallops were served in a bowl — poor presentation! Only 4 wrapped in bacon Our order came to the table. We had: *A Reuben with baked potato Served cold *MSG salad(Main Street grill) A salad with tuna Not bad. * baked twin lobster tails with veges Lobster & veges cold Spoke to manager about the lobster & vegetables being cold, said she would fix it — when the lobster tails & mixed veges came out again they were hot! Not served by the manager but by another waitress The quality & presentation of the food is poor For the price they are charging!!!

The best lobster roll I’ve had in Niantic! Tons of Lobster. Not skimpy at all. We sat on the upper deck in the evening it was a good night.

Stopped at the bar for a Del’s lemonade… THEYDONOTSERVEORIGINALDEL’S. Whatever concoction they are serving is nothing like the treat I’ve had my whole life. Plus, $ 6 each for corn syrup crap. And to top it off, the male bartender was a misogynistic asshole… looked right at me and turned to my boyfriend and asked, «May I help YOU, sir?» And when I spoke, because I WASTHEPERSONORDERING, he again repeated the question to my boyfriend. Get a new NEW bartender because this one has zero appeal… And really, you expect a TIP after that?!

Main Street Grille — Niantin, CT — 5÷30÷2015 Set in close proximity to the water this local restaurant features a large two story outdoor patio. Bring a light jacket or sweater as it can get a bit cool with the breeze of the water. The people are always friendly and they make a mean frozen lemonade… Three of us had the Beer Battered Cod Fish & Chips which were delicious. Their Onion Rings are different in so far as large pieces of onion in a crispy crust. The onion is soft and the crust crispy. My daughter had the Pulled Pork sandwich which was awful. Waaay to much cheese on it and they were gracious enough to take it off the tab as she gave up on eating it after two bites. Like so many places on the shore, the appeal is the location not so much the chef’s prowess in the kitchen. We do go here frequently and enjoy ourselves each time we go. All in all you will enjoy going here so I do recommend it. Ittss a greatt place to go with a group of friends…

I had late lunch here in a Monday. There was only one other table of people in the dining room and they had already been served. So it was surprising to me that my waitress still acted hurried and did not give good service. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad, confirming with the waitress that I would get an entrée-sized salad rather than an appetizer salad. I was very disappointed when it came. It was so bad, I would have sent it back if I weren’t in a big hurry. For me this is saying a lot; I have never in my life sent food back. There was such a small amount of chicken, I kept expecting to find more under the greens hiding somewhere, but no such luck. Just as well, since it was dry, hard, flavorless, and obviously cooked ahead of time and then microwaved. I had many good meals here under the previous owners, but will not be returning. It’s a shame. It is fun to sit and watch the trains go by & enjoy the ocean view, but not if it means you’re served a lousy meal.

Awesome spot, my wife and I were skeptical at first, but the food was great. My wife had the fish and chips, the fish was good, not greasy, nice taste and the fries were great. I had the shepherds pie(corn, TENDER beef tips, and mashed potatoes) it was the best I’ve ever had. Waitress was great and the manager/owner seemed very nice. Great parking, great space inside. I’m definitely going back.

Mediocre in every way. I went w my husband a month ago. The food was mediocre and nothing to write home about. We went there during the Niantic restaurants week and they advertised to give a $ 10(??) gift card but nothing happened. We did not care bc we have no Plan to go back.

My boyfriend and I decided to have an early dinner here on the top deck. First off, the service was horrific. Then there’s the food. My boyfriend got the shrimp scampi and there had to be at least three sticks of butter in it. I had the pulled pork which was ok; certainly nothing to write home about. We won’t be coming back.

We dined here new years eve. We were greeted at the door and promptly seated. Ordered two boneless rib eyes with sides if mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, and spinach. The rib eyes were the most pathetic $ 22 pieces of meat I’ve ever seen in my life at a whopping ¼ inch thick at best. The meat was very undercooked, the sides were bland with no flavoring. The waitress never came back around to ask if we wanted refills on our alcohol. For an $ 86 dollar dinner for two adults and two children,(grilled cheese and cheeseburger sliders), we left extremely disappointed.

Went here with my boyfriend in Labor Day… Got seated outside quickly. Service was great. The food, not so much. I ordered the sword fish, and Cesar salad. My fish clearly had been frozen because it was watery and pretty flavorless. The salad had too much dressing so the lettuce was pretty soggy. The croutons were good though. My boyfriend got the burger. Asked for it to be cooked medium, but it was very undercooked and more on the rare side… If it wasn’t for the good service, I wouldn’t go back. But I like to give second chances, to try different things. We paid about $ 90 an app, 2 entrees, and two cocktails… The meal was not worth the price.

I used to enjoy this place a lot more under the previous ownership. Under the new ownership, the food is not nearly as good. We had nachos, which didn’t seem like they had enough toppings, and the Reuben and chicken sandwiches, which were bland and unremarkable. The bread and fries were almost certainly out of the freezer. The dining experience was nice enough, and the location overlooking the water is wonderful. I would go back for drinks and an appetizer, but there are better options for dinner nearby.

Simple uncomplicated newly redecorated good food, if you’re stuck up and expecting too much good luck but for a good solid dining experience thumbs up!! our annual tradition, dinner and a movie night in Niantic!

So some people say location is everything… I think it is the start to everything, but not quite EVERYTHING. This Grille is located in the perfect spot with a back patio that views the ocean. I was really confused upon arriving. In the parking lot it says there is a rear entrance, well we used the rear entrance and 3 of the wait staff members looked at us like we were aliens. Once we found the hostess(on our own) she was sweet, friendly, and professional looking. The waitress was so loud I felt like I was being yelled at. The food was amazing and overall appearance was clean and perfectly ocean themed. The wait staff drags this one down to 3 stars for me!

Understatement: This was not my best dining experience. Treated my mother to lunch here for her b-day and had actually heard some great things about the food. Sadly I was disappointed. The whole place has sort of a renovated office type feel with a «reception desk/counter» in the front. Greyish office carpet was kinda weird. I ordered the steak which was around $ 20 and asked for the menu item to add sauteed mushrooms for an extra $ 1.50. The waitress said that they only had mushrooms and onions… I wonder why you can’t just get mushrooms… I guess it is just too hard to seperate them when they are IN A CAN. If I want canned veggies I can get them for 50 cents in the supermarket. The steak was about 1⁄8 inch thick, was overcooked and tasted like steak’ums smooshed together. Gross. At least the waitress was friendly, she served my slop with a smile, promptly and very politely. She was the only thing worth spending money on in the place.

This place is what I like to call a «meh.» The food is ok, the atmosphere is ok, the prices are ok. Nothing is great, nothing is terrible. Decent place to have a family dinner. Especially if your family members happen to be old.
