The wine is alright, and the grounds are beautiful, but we were unimpressed by one of the staff. When we walked up to the counter, she gave us a look like we had no business being there, and then demanded to see our IDs.(There were 5 of us ranging in ages from 26 to 43). Lake County class at its finest, I suppose.

What an absolutely awesome place. They are closing the tasting room in 2 weeks and I just discovered it! Overlooking Clear Lake, it’s a perfect venue for parties or weddings.

This place is cool. Take the boat, dock it at the winery, walk up, beautiful gardens. Good wines. The tasting room is often pretty busy, but there is ample outdoor seating, some good snacks to eat while you’re tasting. Decently priced. My only qualm is that I wish the outdoor area was dog friendly.

This by far is the most beautiful vineyard I have ever been to. One problem, your mid 30s male employee made our experience extremely stale. We didn’t feel welcomed, which is sad because we bought several bottles… Ceago if you read these FIREHIM.

My family and I have been to this winery a few times. We always take a boat across the lake and end up docking on the boat dock. We were met with an amazing courtyard full of lavender plants. It was a sight and smell to behold. We walked into the tasting room and were«greeted» by a very quiet unsocial man. I can say that the last time we were here we had great service and a very knowledgeable server. It almost felt as if we were a burden on today’s server. It just was not relaxing at all and as enjoyable as my last visit. Weak pours and even after buying quite a few bottles, the tasting fees were not waived. We left not impressed.

Love this place. Not only because it’s gorgeous and a more intimate experience than let’s say, Napa wineries, but the staff is amazing! In particular, Shawn, who has been there the past few times I’ve gone to Ceago is awesome. His descriptions of the wine make me want to try them all! Ask him what his fave is and he’ll pour you something great and memorable! I adore the«soul of syrah» and their cabs. Their dessert wine is perfect too– not too sweet. They have at least 3 whites for those white wine drinkers. Everything is also reasonably priced. Tasting room is only $ 5 for 5 tastes(great deal!) but I also LOVE the fact that they use lavender in their biodynamic wine maintenance. The lavender products here are amazing too! They have lavender essential oil that is super high quality and perfect. Makes me swoon. The best part of Ceago? There is a gorgeous deck/dock that you can walk out to. I recommend asking Shawn for a cold bottle of white and an ice bucket, a few glasses, and taking the deliciousness and going on an unforgettable stroll to the end. You’ll fall in love. Totally 100% dishcrawl approved!

The bf and I stopped off here while on a road trip. We’d heard some great things, and weren’t disappointed! We sipped and chatted with Nina and before we knew it we were buying a few bottles and joining their wine club. Really looking forward to the pick up parties, and can’t wait to introduce our friends to this place!

After looking forward to visiting this winery all week, we finally made it about 30 minutes before closing time on our last day. All I can say, even with the beautiful view, we were treated so rudely that I don’t think I would go back. When we asked about having enough time to walk out on their deck to see the view, we were advised we could as long as we were«efficient»! Seriously? Thank goodness we has visited several wineries during our week in the area and recognized this wasn’t the norm. Didn’t buy any wine… their loss.

The facilities are beautiful, and a stark contrast to the surroundings – well worth seeing. The wine seemed average for the quality, and below average by the standards one comes to expect having just driven through Napa to get here. The prices are more akin to a captive resort, where if you were willing to pay the money to stay there, you probably don’t mind paying the steep Napa-level prices for the wine(though a bottle at half price in Napa would likely taste better)

This place makes it money on their grounds. The pier and building are amazing and I would love to hang out on their patio and drink wine all day, just not their wine. We didn’t really care for their wine and the staff was very lack luster. We were also supposed to receive a free tasting due to a relationship our B&B had with the winery but it wasn’t offer to us during our visit.

This was the first winery that we went to and I couldn’t wait — because it was the first winery I’ve ever been to in the entire state of California. Wine tasting is $ 5 for 5 and they recommended that we each pick different wines(same type, just different years or technique) in order to better compare and contrast. Great service and extremely knowledgeable staff. It was a great start to our afternoon. We ended up picking up a bottle of Muscat which was just divine. The lavender fields are very cute as you walk along the docks to take a look at the lake.

3.5 stars Came here with a bunch of friends just to sit on the patio on a HOT summer Lake County day and sip wine. We ordered a couple of bottles of wine and nibbled on some snacks that we brought. It was SO relaxing and beautiful at Ceago that we didn’t make it to any other wineries that day! Although it took us awhile to track down some staff(it was pretty late in the afternoon), they did not rush us and were pretty chill. And the one toddler with us enjoyed running around on the patio and playing in the fountain! Would love to go back to taste more of the wines. Would make an absolutely BEAUTIFUL wedding venue!

My husband and I just got married at beautiful Ceago about a month ago. We have been visiting Ceago frequently during the summer, when we are up in clearlake at his parents summer house. We love taking the boat across the lake to spend an afternoon drinking delicious wine and snacking on the wonderful cheeses they have. The first time I visited Ceago, I knew it was where I would have my wedding. Carleen is wonderful to work with, as is Sandy, the tasting room manager. Our wedding was absolutely perfect. The property is beautiful, and all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed spending the day at Ceago! We have lots of leftover wine from the wedding, which I am very excited to be able to drink for the rest of the summer! The casitas are beautiful — my bridesmaids and I got ready in the large one the day of our wedding, and my husband and I stayed there on our wedding night. I can’t wait to stay there again! Thanks Carleen and everyone at Ceago!

Formerly known to locals as «The Barnes’ Yard»; Ceago has been transformed by Jim Fetzer and his team. Total respect for the land, respect for the wine, and respect for the consumer. Ceago is on the forefront of bio-dynamic wine-making. Not only do they make great wine, but other products from crops grown on the property(olives, lavender, etc.). This is the gem of Lake County, stunningly beautiful and pays homage to the aboriginal Pomo that inhabited these lands for eons.

The reason I came back was for my wife who told me her favorite wine was from this winery even though the last experience was bad one for me. I was relieved not to see the person I had dealt with on my last visit.(See previous review). I did have the pleasure of meeting wine hostess Sandy who has poured for me in the past over at Wildhurst Winery few years back. Sandy was very busy multitasking tasting with 4 groups in the tasting room but made sure no one was left out treating me and everyone else with a stellar level of service and respect. I am glad that my faith in this winery has been renewed. Oh, yes, and the wines are still good here!(hint: must try the Soul of Syrah and the Muscat Canelli.)

What a treat. Even for this non-drinker here. A gorgeous winery, complete with a separate sector for guest lodging, and olive groves for making oil, and lavender fields for harvesting. They also have wooly sheep grazing nearby and lots of skittish chickens. You can get up close. A great draw for the whole family. Inside their tasting room they also sell cheeses, crackers, a few snack items for picnicking, cookbooks, some items featuring their lavender products, and the softest custom-made wool lap blankets. Outside, a beautiful, large two story Mediterranean villa with stunning landscaping and view of the lake, perfect for a large special event. Mr. B especially loved the 2010 Muscat Canelli. Bought four. Definitely a must-see, friendly winery.

Ceago! The only Winery very close to my heart… My bf and I together with a group of friends always stop here during our annual Clear Lake trip. We LOVE everything about this winery. We love the fact that we can arrive there by boat and park it at their dock and have a nice wonderful lunch/brunch and have their exquisite wine and lavender cookies! Their garden is beautiful, lavished with tons of Lavender. Always have to buy their lavender lotion as well. I hope to book the winery for future special occasion. wink wink;)

I’m a fan of the Fetzers. I like their use of organic and biodynamic farming practices. I like several of their wines. I’ve only ever heard good things about them as people. Plus, I’ve been going to Lake County at least once a year(more like 7 times a year these days) since I was two years old and I love that they built this property where they did since it is beautiful and has done a lot to add interest to the Nice/Lucerne area of the lake. However, my visit to their tasting room last weekend with my mom was just so-so. The place is beautiful, of course. They have some interesting things in their gift shop but everything is EXTREMELY expensive. Sea salt from Washington state: $ 19.50. Small salami: $ 16. 750ml of olive oil $ 19.50!!! If you just wanted to pick up a few thinks for a small picnic for two people, it’d set you back 40 bucks and that’s before adding wine! Also, the woman pouring for us knew very little about the wines or any of the other products. Every question we asked she didn’t know the answer to and said she’s ask the other woman there, but never interrupted the other tasting room attendant’s conversation in order to ask the questions. It’s a pity because there is so much to tell about these wines– about the biodynamic practices, etc. and it would have added a lot to the experience– particularly for my mom who doesn’t know much about it. The wines themselves are nice. I particularly liked(and purchased) the Sauvignon Blanc. Another varietal that they do very well with is Merlot– and that’s not one I generally gravitate towards. I would recommend stopping by to do some tasting and get some of their wines. Perhaps pick up lunch elsewhere.

My brother-in-law’s family has a house on Clear Lake so we took the boat over here one warm October afternoon and had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful and the fact that it’s a lake front winery means you’ll get great views and warm lake breezes for a lot of the year. The wines are very unique and worth the trip. There are a bunch of random wine varietals that I’ve never had that the wine girl was knowledgeable about. The staff is quite friendly and totally unpretentious. Not sure about most of the food, but the cheese plate we ordered was fantastic. It even included some honeycomb which I’m currently in love with. If you’re in the clear lake region and want to enjoy some nice wine with a great view, this is worth a stop!
